Hate preacher Abu Qatada issued orders to kill British and American civilians after the 9/11 terrorist attacks, according to a secret MI5 report seen by The Mail on Sunday. The Security Service document has raised questions as to why Qatada – who the British Government has tried and failed to deport to Jordan – has not been put on trial in the UK for inciting murder. The report is marked ‘secret UK eyes only’ and claims Qatada is the author of a fatwa that ‘encourages Muslims to take part in jihad against the West’.
A man who listed his address as a homeless shelter has been charged with stabbing a 67-year-old man who was dining with his family at a restaurant on North Michigan Avenue, police said. Jimmy Harris, 56, was charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated battery with intent to do great bodily harm and aggravated unlawful restraint, police said. Harris is accused of attacking Mir Jafar Shah, of Oak Brook, in the restroom of a restaurant in the Westin Hotel around 8 p.m. Saturday officials said.
Islamic Jihad deputy chief Ziyad Nahala said on Sunday in an interview with Egyptian television that all of the organization´s weapons came from Iran. “I want to note that all our weapons are from Iran. The rockets fired into Israel until now have a range of 70 to 80 kilometers," he said, according to a report on Channel 10 News.
Ask not what you can do for your country, but what your new country can do for you. “Welcome to USA.gov,” a website maintained by the Department of Homeland Security’s U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), bills itself as the “primary gateway for new immigrants to find basic information on how to settle in the United States” — featuring a prominent section for new immigrants about how to access government benefits. “Depending on your immigration status, length of time in the United States, and income, you may be eligible for some federal benefit programs,” the Web page reads.
Former CIA Director David Petraeus told Congress he never believed the Obama administration’s claim that the attack on a U.S. mission in Libya was a spontaneous mob action prompted by a crude anti-Islam video. In closed-door testimony Friday, Petraeus said that he believed all along that Islamic terrorists attacked the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya, on the 11th anniversary of 9/11. In so doing, Petraeus recanted his previous account two months ago of that terrible day that left four Americans dead in which he promoted the Obama administration’s official storyline.
CÁDIZ, SPAIN — Starting in the late 1990s, Spanish companies began a drive into Latin America that resulted in their takeover of some of the region’s most prized assets. Now, Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy of Spain wants the investment to flow in the other direction. Mr. Rajoy used a weekend summit meeting here to try to persuade Latin American leaders to invest more in recession-hit Spain, suggesting that his country could be “the closest platform” for companies to make forays into the rest of Europe, and even North Africa.
A new documentary claims that O.J. Simpson’s ex-wife Nicole Brown was the victim of a known serial killer and not her famous football star ex. Glen Rogers was convicted of killing two women in 1995, and the latest theory is that his killing spree began months before with Brown-Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman. Created by Investigation Discovery, an offshoot of the Discovery Channel, the documentary claims that Rogers had boasted that he befriended Nicole shortly after he moved to Los Angeles from Ohio. He is said to have boasted about partying with her and, more ominously,
President Obama and aides are asking the same question as other political professionals: Can he sustain the voter turnout organization that elected him twice? In a congratulatory e-mail, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina asks backers to fill out a questionnaire designed to chart their future -- and presumably gather information for future races, including the 2016 presidential election. "We´ve got so much more to accomplish over the next four years," Messina writes. "The first step is looking at the work we did and defining where our movement should go from here."
Leno: So, we´re headed for a fiscal cliff. The bad news is we just reelected a guy whose campaign slogan was "Forward." Leno: What’s so hard about counting votes in Florida? They just finished. Half the population there can play 10 Bingo cards at once. But they can’t count votes? Leno: Hillary Clinton denies she´ll run for president in 2016.
WASHINGTON — Ten months into 2012, the number of suspected suicides by active-duty soldiers has surpassed last year’s total, even as the Pentagon struggles to stem the persistent problem. According to the Army, there were 20 possible suicides in October, bringing the total for the year to 166 — one more than the total for 2011. The 20 suspected soldier suicides in October is also a spike, compared to 15 in September. U.S. Army officials have been worried about the pace of suicides this year and were concerned the numbers would surge higher than last year
Three Things: 1) Just because you´re paranoid, doesn´t mean there is no conspiracy. 2) If Barack Obama wants a divided nation, we should give it to him. 3) Negative campaign advertising is extremely effective. Let´s start with Benghazi. As a writer of fiction, read by dozens, I love a good conspiracy. If you give me enough time, I can explain how Hurricane Sandy was directly caused by the introduction of New Coke years before, and how Morgan Freeman, the inventor of the teleprompter, is actually Barack Obama´s true father. Obama betrayed us and now it´s
Washington -- Less than two weeks after Barack Obama won his re-election campaign, protesters gathered Sunday to call on the president and his administration to reject the proposed Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, and to act on climate change. While Republican candidate Mitt Romney said he would support construction of the 1,700-mile pipeline, for the jobs he said the pipeline would create, Obama in the past has rejected rapid approval, citing what he called the "arbitrary nature" of the deadline Republicans proposed for passage and the need for sufficient time for the State Department to gather information
We normally use the term "appeasement" to describe the sort of weakness in the face of despotic aggression that crosses a line separating mere ineptitude from the kind of eager passivity that is tantamount to surrender. Today´s Republican Party establishment, including its elected leadership and its well-placed Washington advisers and media figures, is defining a path of domestic appeasement as dangerous and as foolhardy as any ever pursued on the world stage. To identify behavior as an act of full-scale appeasement, we must satisfy two conditions: (1) we must perceive a clear threat of despotic aggression, and
Washington - A top Latino Republican strategist had harsh words for U.S. GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney and joined other conservatives calling for immigration reform. Carlos Gutierrez, who led Romney´s Latino outreach during the presidential campaign, told CNN´s "State of the Union" he was "shocked" Romney last week blamed his overwhelming electoral loss on "gifts" U.S. President Barack Obama gave key groups, especially blacks, Latinos and young people. "(Snip)I think we lost the election because the far right of this party has taken the party to a place that it doesn´t belong.
The Queen and Prince Philip celebrate their 65th anniversary tomorrow and if the Duke of Edinburgh follows tradition he will buy his wife a blue sapphire. Quite what Philip will receive is open to debate but on the eve of the anniversary, two seasoned royal watchers offer him a gift in the form of a new collection of his sometimes wise and occasionally not so wise sayings.[Snip] Only a month after his 85th birthday, Philip told a student who had been working in Romania: "There´s so many of those orphanages over there you feel they breed them just to put
That didn’t take long. Ever since CIA Director David H. Petraeus resigned, one question has risen above all others: Why? Yes, he had an affair with a woman 20 years his junior (quite the mentor), but hey, there was once a top federal official who had sex with an intern his daughter’s age right in the White House Oval Office, and he didn’t step down. So, why the retired general? (Snip)Me, I think Mr. Obama and his minions put the screws to Mr. Petraeus: You go to the House, they said, and tell them the things
President Obama this morning staged a historic meeting with Myanmar opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi as he became the first American president to visit the controversial country. The warm reception that he received from Suu Kyi, who made headlines for being under house arrest for two decades because of her push for democracy in the country, is diplomatically important as it sends a clear signal the America supports her cause. Adding to the friendliness between the leaders, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton gave the petite Kyi a giant hug, as the two have met a number of other times before.
Here’s a classic. Let’s start with the ghoulish display of sorrow over the body of a dead boy, allegedly killed by Israeli bombing. It’s aimed right at the heart of a someone like Annie Lennox who, upon seeing bombs falling on Gaza immediately imagines Palestinian babies on the receiving end, rather than Hamas militants targeting Israeli babies. And, of course, the news media snatch up the photo-op. [Snip] It is unclear who was responsible for the strike on Annazla: the damage was nowhere near severe enough to have come from an Israeli F-16, raising the possibility that
Who would have thought the ubiquitous education superstar Michelle Rhee would be sitting next to Andy Stern on the board of the Broad Foundation? Yes, that´s right. The Republican governors´ siren and CEO of StudentsFirst works alongside the former SEIU leader, who´s visited the White House more than anyone else in the past four years and who said "workers of the world, unite" back in 2007. (snip) no one (except us) on the conservative side appears to be getting the con game going on with Rhee and Broad and, of course, the Obama regime
AUSTIN -- There´s a new line drawn in the sand in the fight over exhibiting Lt. Col. William Barret Travis´ iconic "victory or death" letter at the Alamo. State archive officials who have opposed exhibiting the fragile document believe that their concerns were justified last week when San Antonio police said a rare copy of the Texas Declaration of Independence might have been stolen from the Alamo. "When we heard about it, we caught our breath. I was like, ´Oh, my goodness,´" said Peggy Rudd, director of the Texas State Library and Archives. "That´s the reason we put so much emphasis
Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Sunday that she has initiated a review of talking points used by U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice on the attack on the American diplomatic facility in Libya, with the goal of determining why the public comments appeared to conflict with the initial assessment of U.S. intelligence sources. Feinstein, chair of the Senate Intelligence Committee, defended Rice against what she called the “politicization” of her comments....." But the California senator also said she had “some concern” with the process that produced the unclassified “speaking points” that Rice worked off of
WASHINGTON — Paula Broadwell, whose extramarital affair with CIA chief David Petraeus led to his resignation, is telling friends she is devastated by the fallout.A person close to Broadwell said Sunday she deeply regrets the damage that´s been done to her family and everyone else´s, and she is trying to repair that and move forward. The friend spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly. A group of friends and neighbors welcomed Broadwell, her husband, Scott, and their young sons back to their home in Charlotte, N.C.,
A year after passing an ordinance to gently regulate al fresco nudity — requiring that naturists place something between their seats and public seating — city officials are scheduled to vote Tuesday on whether to ban public nakedness outright. Well, almost outright. This being San Francisco, there are exceptions:The preschool set still could go diaper-less anywhere and everywhere. Fetishists could drop trou for a flogging during the annual Folsom Street Fair, billed as the world´s largest leather fest.
The head of the House Intelligence Committee suggested on Sunday that President Barack Obama might have known about former CIA Director David Petraeus´ extra-marital affair before the November election, and said Attorney General Eric Holder should address this question soon before Congress. U.S. Representative Mike Rogers, a Republican, said Holder´s statement that the Justice Department had not informed the president before the election implied that Holder might have told Obama privately.
Last July, I wrote that the states still had the power to kill ObamaCare, despite the Supreme Court’s gross dereliction of duty in Florida v. HHS. My point was that the insurance exchanges required by PPACA are the key to its success or failure, and that the law grants the states enormous power in the way they are set up. (Snip) Last Friday, three more governors officially announced their refusal to set up state-run ObamaCare exchanges. Ohio’s John Kasich, Wisconsin’s Scott Walker and Maine’s Paul LePage all released statements indicating that they would not assist the Obama administration
Susan Rice, the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, is reportedly being considered as a possible replacement for Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, who is believed to be leaving soon to spend more time with Bill (i.e., to start her 2016 presidential campaign). Because of Rice´s central role in the Obama administration´s attempt to deceive the American people about what happened in Benghazi, Libya, on September 11, she should be denied confirmation if she is nominated. Everyone whose name isn´t Romney must by now understand what happened on September 11 and how the Obama team spent weeks lying and spinning
