Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Thursday called President Obama’s proposal for $1.6 trillion in new tax revenue a "joke." On the Senate floor, McConnell demanded presidential leadership in discussions on how to avoid the “fiscal cliff” of tax increases and spending cuts that will be reached in January. “The only way we succeed is if the president steps up and leads,” McConnell said. “And an opening bid of $1.6 trillion in tax hikes just isn’t serious. … It’s a joke." Sen. John McCain launched a fierce counterattack on Barack Obama yesterday after Obama arrogantly called McCain’s criticism of U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice “outrageous” and said critics of Rice should “go after me.” McCain, speaking on the Senate floor, went straight for the jugular: “This president — this administration — has either been guilty of colossal incompetence or been engaged in a coverup, neither of which is acceptable to the American people. I speak as a friend of Christopher Stevens, I speak as a person who knows something about warfare, I speak as something of an authority —

On Wednesday, November 14, President Obama held his first full-scale press conference and, despite continuing to speak in generalities, Reuters was impressed by the revelation of his second-term agenda. The President was "feisty" yet "conciliatory," Reuters claimed. Reuters led its piece with Obama´s gave a "feisty defense" of U.S. Ambassador Susan Rice. It was Rice who was one of the loudest, early voices claiming that the attacks in Benghazi that killed four Americans was the result of some unknown Youtube video -- a claim solidly proven false soon after the attacks occurred.

Politicians -- and, come to think of it, criminals under interrogation -- are famous for answering the questions they want to answer, which are often not the questions asked. And they frequently attempt to bury a query with words that sound good, but end up revealing very little. Not to mention, consume valuable time, precluding additional questions. Barack Obama has long been reputed as the Real Good Talker, a fellow who says things that sound fine, even at times eloquent to his carefully-picked, eager audiences.

Just in case the unaffordable price tag and rising costs don´t quite do the trick, America´s spiraling dearth of doctors will contribute heavily to the collapse of our re-engineered health care system, according to a new study: The United States will require at least 52,000 more family doctors in the year 2025 to keep up with the growing and increasingly older U.S. population, a new study found. The predictions also reflect the passage of the Affordable Care Act -- a change that will expand health insurance coverage to an additional 38 million Americans.
