Mitt Romney’s White House bid comes down to business experience – i.e. he has it, the president doesn’t. To that end, the Romney campaign trotted out a roster of well-known business leaders Thursday who are backing the Republican presidential nominee. Supporters include Charles Schwab, Cisco Chief Executive John Chambers and Bernie Marcus, the co-founder of Home Depot. The newest name on the list belongs to Intel CEO Paul Otellini, a member of President Barack Obama’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Mr. Otellini’s relationship with the president has been hot-and-cold since Mr. Obama took office. In 2010, he criticized the administration

The revelation of a classified cable dated August 15 from Ambassador Christopher Stevens to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton describing in detail the security threats to the U.S. Benghazi consulate is a quantum leap forward in the reporting on the attack that left the ambassador and three security personnel dead. We have Fox News’s Catherine Herridge to thank for reporting yesterday on the existence of the classified cable. Mainstream media coverage of Benghazi has been scandalously negligent. Indeed, David Ignatius, one of The Washington Post’s top columnists, is now citing Fox News for its breaking stories on Benghazi.

A number of scenarios are possible: (Snip) Last Friday, Fox News came up with a conversation-driver. A piece under the byline of reporter Jennifer Griffin opened with these revelations: Fox News has learned from sources who were on the ground in Benghazi that an urgent request from the CIA annex

Fox News senior correspondent Eric Shawn reported on possible voter fraud in the all-important state of Ohio. With just five days until the Election Day and millions of people casting their votes early, there are reports of problems at the polls. Shawn reports that several voters across the country have been experiencing similar issues with the touch screens. In Nevada, North Carolina and Ohio people have said that when they vote for their candidate, another candidate’s name appears. One woman in Marion County, Ohio said she selected Mitt Romney, but instead Barack Obama’s name was selected.

EPA regulations the Obama administration is scheduled to unleash in its second term would destroy up to 887,000 jobs a year, Sen. James Inhofe announced today. Citing the results of a new study released today by the National Economic Research Associates (NERA), Sen. Inhofe described the crushing effects on jobs and family income of the coming EPA regulations: “Earlier this month I released a Senate oversight report detailing the numerous job-killing regulations that the Obama-EPA has delayed or punted until after the election. “Now, thanks to a new report from National Economic Research Associates (NERA),

Yesterday, the Romney campaign told reporters that it expected to win at least some of the “blue states” in which it is now competing with Obama in the Midwest, including Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Minnesota. The campaign did not give a specific reason for its optimism, but one thing these states have in common is a high proportion of Catholic voters. And Catholic voters have shifted dramatically towards Mitt Romney. In September, the left and the media were exultant when the Pew poll seemed to show a surge for Obama among Catholic voters. He led by fifteen points, 54-39.

LOVELAND, Colo. - Police in Loveland have arrested an Obama campaign worker for unlawful sexual contact. A 21-year-old woman told police that she was touched inappropriately by a man who identified himself as a member of the Obama political campaign. The man, Luke M. Buchanan, allegedly knocked on the woman’s door in Loveland on Tuesday afternoon. The victim and Buchanan talked about her voting status for a short time. Then he asked if he could give her a campaign sticker. While applying the sticker to her shirt, Buchanan, 24, allegedly grabbed her breasts.

Speaking in Green Bay, Wisconsin this afternoon, President Obama reminded voters that if Mitt Romney was president, he would “rubberstamp the Tea Party’s agenda.” Obama told crowds that Romney’s ideas were not change, ridiculing him for “using his talents as a salesman” to dress up the same Bush-era polices to give “more tax cuts to the wealthy” and “more power to big banks.” “Ruling out compromise by pledging to rubberstamp the Tea Party’s agenda as President -– that’s definitely not change,” Obama said. “In fact, that’s exactly the attitude in Washington that needs to go.”

Earlier today, Foreign Policy reported on what two of its reporters found when they visited the Benghazi consulate, six weeks after the terrorist attack there. In the building known as the Tactical Operations Center were several documents that had not previously been reported on, or, perhaps, discovered: One letter, written on Sept. 11 and addressed to Mohamed Obeidi, the head of the Libyan Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ office in Benghazi, reads:

The State Department Wednesday expressed “great respect” for Islamic charitable traditions, but declined a terrorist’s offer to dispatch “doctors, relief and rescue experts, food and medicine” to help Americans affected by super storm Sandy. “While we have great respect, obviously, for the Islamic tradition of social assistance to those who are in need no matter where they might be, this particular offer strikes us as very hollow,” State Department spokesman Mark Toner told a briefing. Last night, radio host Mark Levin told the media they were “so damn corrupt” in their handling of the September 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. Levin compared ABC News touting its poll regarding President Obama’s handling of Hurricane Sandy to the media's coverage of the Benghazi terrorist attack: “You know, it’s interesting. I try to listen to the top of the hour news, and I’m hearing ABC Radio News, and they talk about a poll or survey on the president’s performance during this natural disaster. And it’s 70% positive, including Republics, and

A member of the president’s Secret Service protective detail, who was being investigated for having an unreported romantic relationship with a foreign national, was found dead Saturday in an apparent suicide, according to law enforcement sources. The official cause of Rafael Prieto’s death is still pending. The investigation had led to the suspension of his access to Secret Service facilities, according to sources familiar with the case. The Secret Service does not believe that Prieto passed any sensitive or classified information to the Mexican woman, according to a senior law enforcement official. Instead, Prieto was in the midst of an

Wednesday on The O’Reilly Factor, two weather experts debated Al Gore’s claims that global warming was to blame for Hurricane Sandy’s wrath. Gore said, “The storms are getting stronger. The stronger storms are getting more frequent. And you know, this is the second time in two years that part of Manhattan has been shut down … But the evidence is now so overwhelming.” Joe Bastardi, chief meteorologist at WeatherBell Analytics calls Gore’s claims “stunningly ignorant or stunningly deceptive.” According to Bastardi, such storms are nothing new, “In the 1950s […] 10 major hurricanes ran the eastern seaboard.

While President Obama and New Jersey governor Chris Christie traded compliments and showed a united front as they toured the devastation left by Hurricane Sandy, the mayor of Atlantic City was notably left out in the cold. Lorenzo Langford, the Democratic mayor, was kept far from Christie and Obama during their much-publicized appearance after Langford spent the previous day criticizing Christie. As the two leaders took off in Marine One for four-hour aerial tour of the Shore, Langford was left sulking alone in the airplane hangar where Air Force One sat empty waiting for the President’s return.

Voters will get one last update on the nation’s unemployment rate Friday morning, just four days before they head to the polls to choose between the economic visions of President Obama and Mitt Romney. (Snip) Analysts expect Friday’s release — which was in doubt earlier this week due to Hurricane Sandy — to show that the economy added between 130,000 and 140,000 jobs in October, though the unemployment rate might increase from 7.8 percent to 7.9 percent. Romney previewed his likely response to the report at a campaign rally Thursday, arguing that the slow decline in the unemployment rate is

Mitt Romney will campaign in Pennsylvania on Sunday, the first time he's campaigned in the state in many weeks, a Romney campaign official told The Hill. Romney's campaign has been increasingly bullish about its prospects in the state, launching its first ad there earlier this week. A number of GOP outside groups have also bought millions of dollars in airtime for the final push there. Obama's campaign has scoffed at Romney's push in Pennsylvania and other states they previously haven't contested, although they are investing in ads to combat the GOP outside group's efforts. It's unclear whether Romney is serious

President Obama must be defeated on Tuesday. Our republic hangs in the balance. A second term would enable him to achieve his seminal goal: the transformation of America into a European social democracy. The nation of our Founding Fathers will cease to exist. Our constitutional system will be replaced by a corporatist superstate based on arbitrary, centralized power and the fusion of big government, big business and big labor. His re-election would represent the final victory of the progressive movement — the creation of a liberal, socialist regime. For nearly four years, Mr. Obama has presided over a

Children out trick-or-treating in northern England on Halloween got more than they bargained for when they were given bags of cocaine instead of sweets, police say. A 23-year-old man has been charged with possession of class A drugs after the children's parents found the resealable plastic bags on Wednesday night and took them to the police in Royton, outside the northwestern city of Manchester. "Snap bags containing white powder were taken to the police and examined. It was confirmed that the bags contained cocaine. The bags had been given to children on Mendip Close, Royton, who were out trick-or-treating," police

New York - Among the smaller but still important casualties of hurricane Sandy were thousands of laboratory rodents, genetically altered for use in the study of heart disease, cancer and mental disorders like autism and schizophrenia, that perished in basement rooms at a New York University research centre in Kips Bay. The collection of carefully bred rodents was considered one of the largest and most valuable of its kind in the country. The animals lived in colonies in the cellar of the Smilow Research Centre, on First Avenue near 30th Street. New York University medical and research staff worked furiously

Roanoke, Va. - Mitt Romney’s campaign is running a Spanish-language ad in Florida that claims Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro’s niece would support President Barack Obama. The spot shows a clip of Chavez saying that if he were American, ‘‘I'd vote for Obama.’’ The Venezuelan leader did say that in September, when he also called Obama ‘‘a good guy.’’ Obama’s campaign on Thursday said the ad provides the Venezuelan leader with more attention than he deserves.

On Thursday, Nate Silver, of the New York Times‘ FiveThirtyEight blog, made headlines when he offered a wager to MSNBC host Joe Scarborough. After receiving some criticism about his polling/statistics methods, Silver offered to bet $1,000 on President Barack Obama winning re-election. Later, he doubled that offer. The paper’s public editor, Margaret Sullivan, addressed the matter. (Snip) Sullivan noted that Silver is “accurate” in his argument against Scarborough, that “the closeness of the popular vote does not affect the probability that Mr. Obama will win. They are, simply, two very different things.”
