Actor Martin Sheen, about to start shooting a film based on the notion that 9/11 was an inside job, thinks Mitt Romney is stupid. Sheen, who recently told us President Barack Obama would win in a cakewalk, opened up about the GOP challenger to The Huffington Post. He first focused on Romney's recent presidential debate performance and later dropped some Occupy Wall Street lingo on the interviewer. CNN's Erin Burnett took only four minutes on October 23 to destroy the Obama administration's claim that the president's budget plan would eliminate $4 trillion in deficit spending over the next decade, a television segment that sent the Obama campaign into damage control mode for the past week. While the Obama administration followed up with new figures for CNN reporters, Burnett concluded in an October 25 segment that even with the new figures the Obama campaign's math “it still doesn't seem to add up.” (Snip) Burnett then used an audio segment of Senior Obama Campaign Advisor David Axelrod, who admitted

How worried is the Obama campaign about Minnesota, one of the bluest of blue states? This worried: they’re sending Bill Clinton there for a visit tomorrow. Clinton is taking his show around the country to states where Obama’s firewall is collapsing: Minnesota, Iowa, Colorado, Virginia, New Hampshire, Wisconsin and Ohio. A Star Tribune Minnesota Poll, published Sunday, shows that Obama’s lead has plummeted to the point where there is only a three-point differential between Obama and Mitt Romney, which is within the poll’s margin of error.

An Iranian naval task force has docked in Sudan, carrying with it a "message of peace and security to neighbouring countries", Iranian state media report. The vessels, which include a corvette and freighter, set sail from Iran last month, the Irna news agency said. Their arrival comes six days after explosions destroyed an arms factory in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum. Sudan has complained to the UN that Israel bombed the factory, which is believed to have been operated by Iran. President Obama in a second interview has highlighted deficit reduction and immigration reform as issues he'd tackle in a second term. In an interview with MSNBC's Mika Brezezinski and Joe Scarborough, Obama said the "first order of business" would be deficit reduction, and that his administration would also focus on immigration. Obama said the shadow of across-the-board spending cuts, which are set to begin in January under a deal last summer to raise the debt ceiling, would likely help Congress reach a deal on deficit reduction plans. Both Democrats and Republicans are interested in coming up with an

Washington - The top U.S. military officer is denying reports that Army Gen. Carter Ham’s planned departure as head of U.S. Africa Command is linked to the Sept. 11 attack in Libya. Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey issued a written statement Monday calling speculation about the reasons for Ham’s move ‘‘absolutely false.’’ (Snip) Last week, Panetta said he, Dempsey and Ham all felt very strongly that it would have been a mistake to insert U.S. forces into Benghazi during the attack, which killed four Americans.

Princeton, NJ - When asked to identify the greatest strength of President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney in an open-ended fashion, U.S. registered voters tend to name various personality and character traits for Obama, led by excellent speaking and communication skills (11%) and for "helping the less fortunate" or being "for the people." Romney's perceived strengths tend more toward his economic experience, including being a "good businessman" (16%) and being "good at handling finances/budgets" (4%). Everybody develops their, you know, their confidence,” Jarrett said of the first term in an interview airing this morning on MSNBC. “As I think one of the things that he has said upon reflection is that he’s going to spend a lot more time traveling around the country,” she said after a New Hampshire rally. “A day like today is energizing, and the American

Welfare spending is higher than ever but the money is going to people living above the poverty line—and this redistribution is actually hurting America’s economic recovery, according to a new book. Casey Mulligan, an economics professor at the University of Chicago and the author of The Redistribution Recession: How Labor Market Distortions Contracted the Economy, argues “at least half, and probably more, of the drop in aggregate hours since 2007 would not have occurred, or at worse would have been short-lived, if the safety net had been constant.” President Barack Obama’s stimulus bill largely contributed to the growth in welfare

(Updated 10/29) Is an American General losing his job for trying to save the Americans besieged in Benghazi? This is the latest potential wrinkle in the growing scandal surrounding the September 11, 2012 terrorist attack that left four men dead and President Obama scrambling for a coherent explanation. On October 18, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta appeared unexpectedly at an otherwise unrelated briefing on “Efforts to Enhance the Financial Health of the Force." News organizations and CSPAN were told beforehand there was no news value to the event and gave it scant coverage. In his brief remarks Mr. Panetta said,

New York - One thing that won't keep President Barack Obama awake at night ahead of 6 November is whether America's blacks still have his back. They adore him. But will they actually show up to vote on election day? For the president, that's where electoral nightmares could begin. (Snip) Although blacks make up only 12% of the population, their unusually high 65% turnout in 2008 helped push Obama over the top. A dip this time could help drag him down, just as it did during the 2010 midterm congressional elections when Republicans trounced Democrats.

The terrorist attack on the Benghazi Consulate and CIA annex on 9/11 were continually blamed on a YouTube video by the Obama Administration. Now as the facts emerge the truth is horrendous and beyond belief. I sat down with a former CIA operative of 20 years, Clare Lopez, for a candid interview of why. First, the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was blamed on the YouTube video “Innocence of Muslims”. According to U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, it caused a demonstration out in front of the U.S. Consulate that “began spontaneously” and “then spun out of control”,

Even in ultra-liberal California, a state Barack Obama won by a record 24 points in 2008, Obama only has a 14-point lead over Mitt Romney. Enthusiasm for Obama's reelection is down considerably. According to a USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times poll, Obama leads Mitt Romney, 54%-40%, but his lead is "diminished" because of his failure in 2012 to "pull in people who don't traditionally support Democrats." More than half of Californians (51%) also thought the nation was moving in the wrong direction under Obama.

President Obama says he would like to establish a "secretary of Business" if he wins a second term. In an interview with MSNBC, the president said he wants to consolidate a number of business and trade-related agencies, creating a "one-stop shop" for oversight. "I’ve said that I want to consolidate a whole bunch of government agencies. We should have one secretary of Business, instead of nine different departments that are dealing with things like giving loans to SBA [the Small Business Administration] or helping companies with exports," he said in an interview with MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski and Joe Scarborough.

In an interview that aired today, President Obama said that “if we find out that there was a big breakdown and somebody didn’t do their job” regarding the attack on the U.S. outposts in Benghazi, Libya, “then they’ll be held responsible.” The president made his comment on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” The president acknowledged that “there’s all kinds of legitimate questions to ask because any time a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans who are serving our country get killed we have to figure out what happened and fix it – and most importantly we have to bring those folks who Headline resplit by staff.

Washington - Supporters who want to spend election night with President Obama can earn a ticket with a chore: two days of door-knocking to help turn out the vote in neighboring Wisconsin. Locking down Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes is an important part of Obama’s path to victory, but it won’t come easy. (Snip) But the tickets-for-chores scheme has worked for the Obama campaign before, putting more than 6,000 volunteers to work in the days before the Democratic National Convention in North Carolina. “We want to make sure we’re using every opportunity, right up to the end,” said one campaign official, Headline resplit by staff.

Using a straightened paper clip, Jon Warner needed fewer than 10 seconds to pop a crucial component out of the touch-screen voting machine. The simple manuever exposed a green circuit board — opening the machine to electronic sabotage that could steal or alter votes cast on it, said Warner, a security researcher at Argonne National Laboratory near suburban Lemont. “You can reach inside and do lots of damage pretty easily,” agreed Warner’s boss, Roger Johnston, after the recent demonstration, which they said illustrates a weakness that could be exploited to attack the commonly used machines. But Chicago and suburban election officials

A Christian preacher has blamed homosexuals and President Obama for Frankenstorm Hurricane Sandy as it slams into the east coast of the US. On his website Defend and Proclaim the Faith, chaplain John McTernan said the storm was God's judgment on gays and punishment for Obama's recent backing of same-sex marriage. He also attacked Obama's Republican rival, Mitt Romney. "Obama is 100 percent behind the Muslim Brotherhood which has vowed to destroy Israel and take Jerusalem," the preacher claimed. "Both candidates are pro-homosexual and are behind the homosexual agenda. America is under political judgment and the church does not know it. Headline resplit by staff.

When conservative tax dollars support public radio stations across America, what kind of programming gets aired? One radical show is “Smiley and West,” which is distributed by Public Radio International. This weekend, PBS star Tavis Smiley was too busy, so they replaced him with Julianne Malveaux – the loud-mouthed wacko who infamously announced on the PBS show To The Contrary that someone should feed Clarence Thomas a lot of cholestrol so he dies young. So much for civility. It was a freaky show, with Malveaux not only emitting the usual charge that the polls are only close

In the Fall 2012 issue of National Affairs, George Mason University Professor David Armor and post-doctoral fellow Sonia Sousa present astonishing but little-known data on the expansion on the welfare state under President Obama. Armor and Sousa get to the heart of the problem, tracing the growth of entitlements to the expansion of eligibility for them: More Americans above the poverty line than below it are now receiving the benefits of our largest and most expensive welfare programs. Take the case of food stamps. Newt Gingrich dubbed Obama the “food stamp president,”

*Updated In light of Americans who are demanding answers from the Obama administration on why four Americans were denied help for military assistance when the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi was under attack, there is little chance that any whistle-blower with first hand information will step forward as long as President Barack Obama is still in office. Republicans are demanding the administration turnover material, including video, that explain what happened in Benghazi, but the President is more likely to cite executive privilege and use the hammer of his Justice Department to keep anybody who knows anything quiet.

Sandy, taking dead aim on the South Jersey's fragile barrier islands on a rare if not unprecedented path, is on a course to become the first hurricane to make landfall in New Jersey in 109 years. For the Shore, and the entire Philadelphia region, the path couldn't be much worse. Coinciding with a tide-swelling full moon, Sandy is to smash tidal records all along the Jersey coast. East Coast tropical-storm threats are nothing new in September and October, but no one could recall a hurricane paralleling the coast and then making a hard left at New Jersey.

This Romney endorsement editorial, if you actually bother to read it, is little more than a practical joke. First of all, it has all the hallmarks of having been ordered by the publisher over the objections of the editorial board. Normally, a sentence like "the Register’s editorial board, as it should, had a vigorous debate over this endorsement," translated into blunt English means: "Our idiot publisher forced this tripe down our throats, and we're counting on you the more knowledgeable readers to understand this."

Two days after the deadly Libya terror attack, representatives of the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center gave Capitol Hill briefings in which they said the evidence supported an Al Qaeda or Al Qaeda-affiliated attack, Fox News has learned. The description of the attack by those in the Sept. 13 briefings stands in stark contrast to the now controversial briefing on Capitol Hill by CIA Director David Petraeus the following day -- and raises even more questions about why Petraeus described the attack as tied to a demonstration.
