President Barack Obama signed an executive order Friday that expanded the Department of Homeland Security’s ties to local law enforcement. The executive order creates a White House Homeland Security Partnership Council and Steering Committee, aimed at fostering local partnerships between federal and private institutions “to address homeland security challenges.” The council will be chaired by “the Assistant to the President for Homeland Security and Counterterrorism (Chair), or a designee from the National Security Staff.” The Council chair will also chair the Steering Committee.

In a recent newspaper interview (Des Moines Register), President Obama declared that Mitch McConnell had “imposed an ironclad filibuster from the first day I was in office.” And, added the president authoritatively, “that’s not speculation.” No it’s not speculation. It’s hooey. An F in history for you, Mr. Prez. McConnell was and is the minority leader of the Senate. Meaning his party does not control the place now and did not control the place when Obama took office. It was OBAMA’s party, Democrats, who then enjoyed an ironclad majority and power to do whatever they wished in the Senate.

Hours before the worst of Sandy was supposed to come ashore, conditions in Atlantic City were already quickly deteriorating on Monday morning, with major street flooding and authorities reporting that the north end of the boardwalk is already on the verge of collapse. Massive waves pounded the beach and the entrances to the boardwalk were flooded and impassable. Three shelters are already reported full as Atlantic Avenue was already flooded with three feet of water at 7 a.m. and it was increasingly impossible to drive. Strong winds battered the boardwalk making it hard to stand.

Ray Smith hadn't seen his son Sean in 15 years. But the former Marine, who was severely injured in Vietnam, was rekindling the relationship. A few months ago, the two exchanged letters for the first time in more than a decade. Smith got to see pictures of the grandchildren he's never met. "I was trying to make things work between father and son," said Smith, 63, who moved to Gulfport four years ago. Smith had been hoping to get together with his son again but realized last month that would never happen

It’s clear long time Democratic Party pollster Pat Caddell has had it with mainstream media suppression of Benghazi in this excerpt from the Jeanine Pirro on Fox Saturday night. (Caddell comes in at 1:15 after Ann Coulter). Juicy bit: I am appalled right now. This White House, this President, this Vice President, this Secretary of State, all of them, are willing, apparently, to dishonor themselves and this country for the cheap prospect of getting reelected — willing to coverup and lie. And the worst thing is the very people who are supposed to protect the

American Bridge 21st Century, a pro-Obama super PAC, released an ad on Monday that hurls multiple arrows at Mitt Romney with just more than a week to go until Election Day. The ad, called “Romnopoly,” hits Romney on a wide range of issues, from the auto bailout to his experience at Bain Capital to his income taxes -- all using the theme of a Monopoly board game. It even takes a shot at the Republican nominee for once putting his family dog on the car roof during a vacation.

President Obama said in an interview aired Monday that his first priority if re-elected would be to push for passage of a debt-reduction plan to cut spending and raise taxes on the nation's highest earners. Appearing in a taped interview on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Mr. Obama predicted that Congress can approve a plan to reduce the country's debt and deficit as soon as during a lame-duck session later this year, or in the early months of next year. "If we won, then I believe that's a mandate for doing it in a balanced way," he said

As mentioned earlier, Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski spoke with President Barack Obama during a New Hampshire campaign stop in a segment aired early Monday morning. Brzezinski kicked things off by asking the President why it’s been so easy for critics to go after his administration’s response to the attack in Benghazi. “Well,” the President responded, “the fact of the matter is that this is a tragedy. There’s all kinds of legitimate questions to ask, because any time a U.S. ambassador and three other Americans who are serving our country get killed,

WASHINGTON — With Hurricane Sandy threatening the East Coast, first lady Michelle Obama planned to spend tonight in her native Chicago, campaign Monday in Iowa and return to her hometown Monday night, an aide said. The details of her plans while in Chicago, including whether she'll stay at the family home in the Kenwood neighborhood, were not released. Daughters Malia and Sasha will not be part of her Midwestern swing, the aide said. Originally, Michelle Obama had planned to depart the nation's capital on Monday, the aide said.

There is a troubling hint of something very un-American about the American president. I am not alluding to the birther controversy but rather to something in the president’s character, attitudes, personal aura, and worldview. He could just as well have been born in Podunk or Dogpatch and yet an un-American flavor would still cling about him. A little while back I tried a thought experiment with an American friend still partly dazzled by the president’s populist dexterity and acclaim. I asked him to recite the names of a dozen presidents at random, ending with POTUS 43. He proceeded:

Next to the Miss Iowa Hog title, the most coveted temporal honor in the Hawkeye state may be the political endorsement of the state's largest newspaper, the Des Moines Register. Sen. Barack Obama won it in 2008, as the Democrat has for 10 straight presidential elections. Not this time. The paper too has had it with the Real Good Talker. And went with Republican Mitt Romney, as he explained his economic program.

First Lady Michelle Obama is begging supporters for funds just eight days before America votes on November 6, 2012. Friend --After all Barack has done in office, and after all you have done to build this campaign, we can't afford to watch everything slip away on Election Night. But the other side has outraised us -- our opponents have $45 million more than we do for the final stretch. And none of us has ever seen what a barrage of money like that will do. As Hurricane Sandy approaches the northeast United States, the left is attempting to politicize the storm, attacking Republican nominee Mitt Romney and his running mate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI), for wanting to shift more responsibility for disaster relief from the federal government to the states. They ignore the fact that President Barack Obama's proposal for the upcoming budget sequester would cut nearly $900 million from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, including disaster relief, food and shelter, and flood management at both the federal and state levels. The cuts, detailed on pages 94 through 96 of the White House's sequestration proposal,

The bipartisan Battleground Poll, in its “vote election model,” is projecting that Mitt Romney will defeat President Obama 52 percent to 47 percent. The poll also found that Romney has an even greater advantage among middle class voters, 52 percent to 45 percent. While Obama can close the gap with a strong voter turnout effort, “reports from the field would indicate that not to be the case, and Mitt Romney may well be heading to a decisive victory,” says pollster Ed Goeas.

WASHINGTON — The United States has held 56 presidential elections. In four of them the loser had more popular votes than the winner, but lost in the electoral college. Only once, in 1876, did the losing candidate (Samuel J. Tilden, a Democrat) receive an absolute majority of popular vote and still lose the election (to Republican Rutherford B. Hayes). That could happen again this year. Republican Mitt Romney currently holds a lead over President Obama according to several polls, that lead taking him to just over half of all voters in Gallup and Rasmussen polls.

If Obama ordered the military to “secure our personnel,” where is the order? Our ambassador to Libya was killed in our own consulate in Benghazi on the night of September 11. For the next six weeks, President Obama repeated the same talking point: The morning after the attack, he ordered increased security in our embassies in the region.

The sun had risen over a hazy Benghazi about an hour earlier, and as he grabbed the wheel of his militia’s beaten-up white Toyota pickup, 42-year-old Ibn Febrayir (not his real name) groused to himself that this was no way to treat an ambassador, especially U.S. envoy Christopher Stevens. He had heard war tales about the lanky, good-natured Californian. How he had ventured to the shifting front lines during the uprising against Muammar Gaddafi and during lulls shared the rebels’ impromptu meals, ready to swap jokes and flash a winning smile, even when regime forces were mounting a counter-offensive.

Last year New York City escaped the worst of Hurricane Irene. Now, the "frankenstorm" combination of Hurricane Sandy and other storm systems are bearing down on the Northeast. Back in 2011, using U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' calculations, PM examined how much damage a direct hit by a hurricane could cause to New York City. Here's what super storms are made of—and how the whole country can prepare for the worst.

There are four scandals stemming from the murders in Benghazi, and the mainstream media's reluctance to cover them reveals a threat to us all. Even as cables and emails continue to appear, most traditional media sources are downplaying or ignoring the Administration's failure to provide repeatedly requested and critically necessary security in Benghazi. In the days before 9/11, there was a failure which left our ambassador and staff vulnerable. Yet most "journalists" aren't asking, •"Why and who turned down these repeated requests especially before 9/11? •How could the President never have been told about the activity

Rude, insulting language about Romney (“bullsh****r) from the president. Vulgar sexual innuendo, aimed at seducing young women to vote for him. The vice president asking a bereaved parent about the size of his murdered son’s testicles. It’s quite a spectacle. We’re a fractious people, and our politics have always been full of colorful language, but I can’t recall the current depth of vulgarity. The “politics of personal destruction” have gotten uglier. Does it mean anything? Should we try to understand it? First, it bespeaks a coarsening of public language. No surprise there
