Stand Down Obama and
Biden, Stand Down
American Thinker, by Clarice Feldman    Original Article

Normally, I have no difficulty writing this column. I see it as a way to provide busy readers a coherent narrative of the best of the week's most important news -- largely as reported by the alternative media and ignored by its richer, fatter and lazier media opposition. This week is sadly different. The latest news coming out about the murder of our ambassador and three other brave Americans in Ben Ghazi is so horrifying and shocking I can take no pleasure in writing about it. It's still largely unreported by the legacy media.

Liberals Find out Women Aren’t Amused

Soon will come the finger-pointing. Liberals will gnash their teeth, pull their hair and recriminate. Yes; true, this is normal behavior on the part of liberals. But this time the behavior will be uproarious and hilarious. Because this time, the folks who brought us Occupy Wall Street won’t be in a drum circle, but in a circular firing squad facing their comrades, their righteous fingers loaded and looking for blame. “Oh, Chicago!” they’ll say. “Bang, bang.” Sure, there will be the typical liberal shots at the “racists” on the right who denied Obama a second term. But the delicious irony lost on them

Public Television Doesn’t Mean

Big Bird is in no danger of going anywhere, with hundreds of millions of dollars in its nest egg. Sesame Street makes for a nice public face for public broadcasting, but public broadcasting isn’t anywhere as cozy as that. But it’s actually worse than that. CCTV, an official propaganda arm of the Chinese government and the Chinese Communist Party, is being distributed to public television stations in the U.S. through a public television programming service called MHz Worldview, a project of MHz Networks.

Why A Mormon Is Perfectly
Suited To Be President
Business Insider, by Matt Hopkins    Original Article

Mormons are unlikely patriots. We are a faith that was founded in the youth of the nation, forged in the desert of the West, and matured along with the country that we call home. Our history is complicated, but consistently we have proved loyal to the United States of America. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, better known as Mormonism, started in New York, moved to the midwest and eventually settled what is now known as Utah. We made these moves not because we wanted to be secretive, but because we were persecuted for our faith.

U.S. Set to Sponsor Health Insurance

Washington--The Obama administration will soon take on a new role as the sponsor of at least two nationwide health insurance plans to be operated under contract with the federal government and offered to consumers in every state. (Snip)The national plans will compete directly with other private insurers and may have some significant advantages, including a federal seal of approval. Premiums and benefits for the multistate insurance plans will be negotiated by the United States Office of Personnel Management, the agency that arranges health benefits for federal employees.

GOP senses chance to beat

SHEBOYGAN, Wis.- Republicans see a lack of enthusiasm for President Obama when they look out across Wisconsin, and they're hoping that that diminished energy level will give them the opening they need to seize the traditionally Democratic state for GOP nominee Mitt Romney. "I don't think there's any state where Obama has lost more ground than Wisconsin," said state Rep. Steve Kestell, a Romney supporter. "This is all about making sure our folks get out to vote and bring a friend." Wisconsin nearly went for Republican George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004, but it hasn't actually backed

The return of the wolf is one of the unexpected ecological bonuses of the modern era. So numerous are wolves that this fall Wisconsin and Wyoming have joined Idaho and Montana in opening wolf-hunting seasons for the first time in years. Minnesota follows suit next month; Michigan may do so next year. The reintroduced wolves of Yellowstone National Park have expanded to meet the expanding packs of Canada and northern Montana. The same is happening in Europe. Wolf populations are rising in Spain, Italy and Eastern Europe, while in recent years wolves have recolonized France, Germany, Sweden and Norway,

Previously on Law & Order: Last Monday, hockey-stick progenitor Michael Mann filed suit in DC Superior Court against me, NR, the Competitive Enterprise Institute and Rand Simberg. I noticed on the press release (published on his Facebook page) that Dr Mann claimed to have been “awarded the Nobel Peace Prize“, and that on the complaint itself we are accused of the hitherto unknown crime of “defamation of a Nobel prize recipient“. So my colleague Charles C W Cooke decided to call up the Nobel chaps in Oslo and ask them if Dr Mann was, in fact, a Nobel laureate:

NEW ORLEANS- Madonna drew boos and triggered a walkout by several concertgoers after she touted President Barack Obama on her "MDNA Tour" in New Orleans. The Material Girl asked during Saturday night's performance: "Who's registered to vote?" She added: "I don't care who you vote for as long as you vote for Obama." Drawing boos in touting Obama over Republican Mitt Romney, Madonna followed: "Seriously, I don't care who you vote for ... Do not take this privilege for granted. Go vote." Madonna is often outspoken.

Behind the Clinton ‘bromance,’

How to explain this budding “bromance,” as first lady Michelle Obama puts it, between her husband and Bill Clinton? The 44th president and the 42nd president are indeed having a whirlwind affair in the closing days of the campaign. President Obama takes Clinton on three campaign stops next week, stopping in Orlando, Youngstown, Ohio, and Northern Virginia to kick off the last full week of the race. An ad Clinton cut, defending Obama against all “the stuff some folks are saying,” is set to run in those states and in Nevada, Colorado and Iowa.

Myriad are the failures of the Obama administration, but none is more tragic, or more frightening, or more foreboding of catastrophe than the appalling mishandling of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the US Consulate in Benghazi. Details continue to leak, but it’ll be hard to top the bombshell from Fox News at week’s end reporting that repeated urgent requests for military help during the attack were summarily denied — for hours. In those hours, former Navy SEAL Tyrone Woods was killed after he chose to disobey an order to “stand down” — and rushed to aid his fellow Americans.

Three Things We Learned

When 21-year-old, sealed testimony by the Republican presidential nominee from his friend’s heated divorce case is unsealed 11 days before a presidential election, interests are understandably piqued. Gloria Allred, the attorney representing Romney’s friend’s ex-wife, said the 430 pages of Romney testimony wouldn’t mean much without her client’s context to explain what is hidden. Those secrets will apparently stay secret, because the judge who unsealed Romney’s testimony in the divorce case between Staples founder Tom Stemberg and Maureen Sullivan Stemberg did not remove the confidentiality agreement surrounding the case.

Yesterday, the CIA insisted that "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate." The denial is in reference to the report that the CIA held back forces from helping the Americans who were under attack in Benghazi, Libya on 9/11. And today, the White House is making a similar claim. "Neither the president nor anyone in the White House denied any requests for assistance in Benghazi," an Obama administration spokesman tells Yahoo's Olivier Knox. Knox reports:

A few days ago, I participated in a debate with the legendary antiwar dissident Daniel Ellsberg on Huffington Post live on the merits of the Obama administration, and what progressives should do on Election Day. Ellsberg had written a blog post arguing that, though Obama deserves tremendous criticism, voters in swing states ought to vote for him, lest they operate as dupes for a far more malevolent Republican Party. This attitude is relatively pervasive among Democrats, and it deserves a genuine response. As the election is fast approaching, this piece is an attempt at laying out the progressive case

Do you wonder what the hell happened in Libya? Right after our ambassador and three other Americans were murdered by that “spontaneous” uprising in Benghazi by people who just happened to be armed with RPGs, know the layout of our safe house, and who congregated on — let’s see, oh, right, it was on September 11, what do you know! — right after that, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton expressed surprise: after all, hadn’t we helped “liberate” the Libyans from the monster Gaddafi and made way for . . . for what? Oh, right, for the “Arab Spring”!

Hawaii is under a tsunami warning after a 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked an island off the west coast of Canada late Saturday night. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center originally said there was no tsunami threat to Hawaii, but then issued the warning late Saturday. It remains in effect until 7 p.m. Sunday and a small craft advisory is in effect until Sunday morning. Officials are estimating a wave between 3-6 feet for certain locations in Hawaii.

About the two Navy SEAL’s killed in Libya: Quite an astounding tribute to the courage and bravery of the two former Navy SEAL’s that went to the aid of Ambassador Stevens and Embassy staff. Courageous! (snip) But the stunning part of the story is that Tyrone Woods and Glen Doherty killed 60 of the attacking force. Once the compound was overrun, the attackers were incensed to discover that just two men had inflicted so much death and destruction. As it became apparent to these selfless heroes, they were definitely going to lose their lives unless some reinforcements showed up in a hurry.

Mitt Romney has led Barack Obama in the Gallup national tracking poll for nearly three weeks. He has led the Rasmussen national tracking poll for about the same time. And now that the Washington Post and ABC News are publishing their own tracking poll, he’s leading in that one, too. It seems reasonable to conclude that, at this moment in late October, Romney is leading the presidential race. Those results have led to a lot of nervousness among Democrats and a number of reassuring analyses from party operatives and left-leaning journalists. No matter what the national polls

There is only one Issue before the public, one grand recognition that defines our time — the sense, drummed into our heads during the bank bailouts of 2008 and 2009, that the fix is in. Regardless of which party holds the majority, we now know, Washington is in the hands of the oligarchy. Arguments over this issue are well-nigh everywhere on the nation’s streets. In general, however, the men at the top of the tickets do not go there. Only one of the national candidates is willing to acknowledge what’s on the public’s mind, and this is what makes Republican vice-presidential

TRIPOLI, Libya -- It began around nightfall on Sept. 11 with around 150 bearded gunmen, some wearing the Afghan-style tunics favored by Islamic militants, sealing off the streets leading to the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi. They set up roadblocks with pick-up trucks mounted with heavy machine guns, according to witnesses. The trucks bore the logo of Ansar al-Shariah, a powerful local group of Islamist militants who worked with the municipal government to manage security in Benghazi, the main city in eastern Libya and birthplace of the uprising last year that ousted Moammar Gadhafi
