Obama: 'Not personally aware' of
security requests before Libya attack
Fox News, by Staff    Original Article

President Obama said Friday he was "not personally aware" of any request for more security by U.S. diplomats in Libya before the Sept. 11 strike on the consulate. The president addressed questions about those requests during an interview on "The Michael Smerconish Show." Several weeks ago, former security officers testified on Capitol Hill that they had sought additional protection in the months leading up to the attack -- further, a recently released cable from Ambassador Chris Stevens himself on the day of the attack noted "growing problems with security" in Benghazi.

Mitt Romney, Paul Ryan feed

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — An autumn chill. Live country music. A sea of blue jeans and ball caps flowing into nearby neighborhoods. Lately Mitt Romney's outdoor rallies in Ohio have taken on a distinct feel, sound and look as his crowds grow in size and the weather lends itself to a high school football atmosphere. The Republican nominee for president feeds off this Americana vibe, and Friday night at Hoover High School was no exception. An audience of 8,500 gathered around the school's baseball diamond to hear Romney and his running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan.

The economy plowed ahead at a 2% growth rate in the third quarter, which thrilled more than a few of our liberal friends who think it's enough to re-elect President Obama. We'll soon find out if they're right, but there's no doubt their prosperity standards are slipping. In the third quarter of 1992, growth came in at 4.2% (3.4% for the year) and Democrats called it a catastrophe. The third-quarter figure means that growth for the first nine months of 2012 has been a paltry 1.7%. That's slower than last year (1.8%), which was slower than the year before (2.4%). The current recovery

Despite real-time video, emails to the White House and desperate cries for help, our defense secretary says we didn't send rescue forces to our Benghazi consulate because we didn't know what was going on. In a statement bordering on the Kafkaesque, Leon Panetta told a news conference Thursday that four Americans, including our Libyan ambassador Chris Stevens, were left to die without a rescue attempt by nearby U.S. military forces because there's "a basic principle here, and the basic principle is that you don't deploy forces into harm's way without knowing what's going on,

‘We’re going to have that person arrested and prosecuted that did the video,” said Hillary Clinton. No, not the person who made the video saying that voting for Barack Obama is like losing your virginity to a really cool guy. I’ll get to that in a moment. But Secretary Clinton was talking about the fellow who made the supposedly Islamophobic video that supposedly set off the sacking of the Benghazi consulate. And, indeed, she did “have that person arrested.” By happy coincidence, his bail hearing has been set for three days after the election, by which time he will have served

Petraeus Throws Obama Under the Bus - Thread Closed

Breaking news on Benghazi: the CIA spokesman, presumably at the direction of CIA director David Petraeus, has put out this statement: "No one at any level in the CIA told anybody not to help those in need; claims to the contrary are simply inaccurate.” It would have been a presidential decision. There was presumably a rationale for such a decision. What was it? When and why—and based on whose counsel obtained in what meetings or conversations—did President Obama decide against sending in military assets to help the Americans in need?

Tallahassee, Fla. - Federal officials say that absentee ballots being sent to U.S. military serving in Afghanistan may have been burned in a plane crash. A top official in the Federal Voting Assistance Program this week notified election officials across the nation that a transport plane crashed at Shindad Air Base on Oct. 19. The crash resulted in the destruction of 4,700 pounds of mail inbound to troops serving in the area. Federal officials in their email to state election offices said they did not know if any ballots were destroyed. They also said the

President Barack Obama appeared on Colorado's KUSA's 9 News on Friday and was asked by reporter Kyle Clark if the Americans who were killed at the U.S. consulate in Beghazi were denied help during the terrorist attack and if it was fair to "tell Americans that it is still under investigation and that we'll all find out after the election." President Obama never answered that question and managed to repeat his "three directives" several times. President Barack Obama told a radio interviewer Oct. 26 that his top priority is capturing — not killing — the “folks” who attacked and killed four Americans in Libya on Sept. 11. “My most important job as president is keeping the American people safe… and we are going to make sure, most importantly, that those who carried it out, that they are captured,” he told liberal radio host Michael Smerconish. But the president also acknowledged links between the Libyan attackers and al-Qaida, by saying that U.S. must guard against “groups throughout the Middle East

The President sat down at the White House with anchor Sway Calloway and delivered a careful pitch based around youth-friendly topics such as climate change, college tuition and gay marriage. He also opened up about his personal life, revealing that he has banned his daughter from using Facebook for security reasons, and talking about his anguish at seeing his friends' family members die in gun violence in Chicago. Washington -- Republican senators are demanding that the Obama administration make public the surveillance video taken during last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, which killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte wrote to President Barack Obama's defense secretary, CIA director and attorney general demanding that the video be declassified. In the run-up to the presidential election, Republicans have accused the Obama administration of distorting the account of the attack on Sept. 11 that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

The Denver Post has an update with some details of that developing investigation: (Snip) In addition, there are allegations that Abound may’ve knowingly sold defective panels to customers and misled financial institutions when the company was seeking loans… so that’s pretty terrific.

Imagine a scathing look at a vice presidential candidate. Put a “R” after that candidate’s name, like Sarah Palin, and you get big-name books, a controversial film and lots of news coverage. Put a “D” after that candidate’s name, even when he’s still the sitting vice president, and it gets almost no attention. That’s the case with Jeff Connaughton, “a Biden Senate staffer turned lobbyist” who just published a book called “The Payoff” that Politico says “lacerates” the vice president.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday said the real reason why banks need to be regulated is because they exist to make profits. "But, look, these financial institutions are in to make money and that’s why we need some smart regulations and this is an example of the difference in this campaign because my opponent says he wants to roll back all those

In a 1999 legislative vote, then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama was the sole state senator to not vote for for a bill that would protect sexual assault victims from having the details of their cases revealed publicly. On May 11 of that year, Obama voted “present” on a bill, ultimately made law, that allows victims of sex crimes to request that their cases be sealed from public view following a criminal conviction. Illinois Senate voting records show that Obama was the only senator who did not vote in favor of the bill. Obama’s unique objection to voting for a bill

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had a financial advantage over President Barack Obama entering the final weeks of a campaign that polls of likely voters show as a dead heat. The final campaign finance reports before the Nov. 6 election showed that Romney, the Republican National Committee and super-political action committees backing his candidacy raised just short of $1 billion through Oct. 17. That’s about the same amount as Obama, the Democratic National Committee and his allied super-PAC combined. Romney and his allies entered the last three weeks of the campaign with $151 million to spend -- $50 million per

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has appropriated for himself one of President Barack Obama's most potent lines of attack throughout this election. If there is a candidate who represents the status quo and whose plans for the next four years are hazy, it's Obama, as Romney tells it. It's the same charge the Obama campaign has used against Romney -- with great effect -- for most of 2012. But in a stroke of irony, the Republican nominee has turned the attack back toward the president, with a degree of success.
