Senators demand White House
declassify Libya video

Washington -- Republican senators are demanding that the Obama administration make public the surveillance video taken during last month's deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya, which killed the U.S. ambassador and three other Americans. Sens. John McCain, Lindsey Graham and Kelly Ayotte wrote to President Barack Obama's defense secretary, CIA director and attorney general demanding that the video be declassified. In the run-up to the presidential election, Republicans have accused the Obama administration of distorting the account of the attack on Sept. 11 that killed Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans.

First Lady Michelle Obama told supporters to think of the last 11 days of this election as if it’s a “horrible workout” coming to a close. “Treat these 11 days like the last five minutes of a horrible workout,” Mrs. Obama, who has emphasized the need for physical fitness– especially among children — over the last four years, told donors today in California. You can get through anything. Just bear down. Don’t look at the clock too much.” She especially requested more money. “Keep writing those checks,”

Megan Byrne of Hillsdale lived on campus her first year of college for a simple reason: She figured she would make more friends in a dorm than at her parents' house 20 minutes away. But after freshman year, she decided to move back home for another simple reason. "It was basically just the economics," said Byrne, a sophomore at Ramapo College in Mahwah. "It was too expensive." A recent study suggests that Byrne is now in the majority. As college tuition continues to rise and students contribute more toward their education, 51 percent of American college students decided this year

Oh my : President Obama and Mitt Romney are now tied in the critical battleground state of Wisconsin. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Wisconsin Voters shows the president and his Republican challenger each earning 49% support. One percent (1%) likes another candidate, and two percent (2%) are undecided. Ninety-six percent (96%) of Badger State voters say they are sure to vote in this election. Romney leads 51% to 47% among these voters. Among the 90% who say they’ve already made up their minds whom they will vote for, it’s Romney 51%, Obama 48%. If those undecideds break away from

You may recall that Abound Solar, one of President Obama most favoritest subsidized poster children, declared bankruptcy (not to be confused with electric-car battery maker and Obama-stimulus-recipient A123 Systems that declared bankruptcy just a couple of weeks ago — there are just so many to keep track of) and subsequently became the subject of a criminal investigation. The Denver Post has an update with some details of that developing investigation: (Snip) In addition, there are allegations that Abound may’ve knowingly sold defective panels to customers and misled financial institutions when the company was seeking loans… so that’s pretty terrific.

Imagine a scathing look at a vice presidential candidate. Put a “R” after that candidate’s name, like Sarah Palin, and you get big-name books, a controversial film and lots of news coverage. Put a “D” after that candidate’s name, even when he’s still the sitting vice president, and it gets almost no attention. That’s the case with Jeff Connaughton, “a Biden Senate staffer turned lobbyist” who just published a book called “The Payoff” that Politico says “lacerates” the vice president.

President Barack Obama on Wednesday said the real reason why banks need to be regulated is because they exist to make profits. On an appearance on the "Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, Obama spoke about some of the regulations his administration has supported and enacted, insisting "smart regulations" are needed because "these financial institutions are in it to make money." "But, look, these financial institutions are in to make money and that’s why we need some smart regulations and this is an example of the difference in this campaign because my opponent says he wants to roll back all those

In a 1999 legislative vote, then-Illinois State Senator Barack Obama was the sole state senator to not vote for for a bill that would protect sexual assault victims from having the details of their cases revealed publicly. On May 11 of that year, Obama voted “present” on a bill, ultimately made law, that allows victims of sex crimes to request that their cases be sealed from public view following a criminal conviction. Illinois Senate voting records show that Obama was the only senator who did not vote in favor of the bill. Obama’s unique objection to voting for a bill

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney had a financial advantage over President Barack Obama entering the final weeks of a campaign that polls of likely voters show as a dead heat. The final campaign finance reports before the Nov. 6 election showed that Romney, the Republican National Committee and super-political action committees backing his candidacy raised just short of $1 billion through Oct. 17. That’s about the same amount as Obama, the Democratic National Committee and his allied super-PAC combined. Romney and his allies entered the last three weeks of the campaign with $151 million to spend -- $50 million per

Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney has appropriated for himself one of President Barack Obama's most potent lines of attack throughout this election. If there is a candidate who represents the status quo and whose plans for the next four years are hazy, it's Obama, as Romney tells it. It's the same charge the Obama campaign has used against Romney -- with great effect -- for most of 2012. But in a stroke of irony, the Republican nominee has turned the attack back toward the president, with a degree of success.

The national and swing-state data confirmed a tight race that will leave both candidates in an all-out sprint through Election Day to win the race for the White House. Gallup’s daily tracking poll on Friday found Romney expanding his lead over Obama to 5 points from a 3-point lead earlier on Thursday. Romney takes 51 percent to Obama's 46 in the poll of likely voters, released Friday.

Think back. Minutes before 2 a.m. on Sept. 15, 2008, a 158-year-old investment bank obscure to most Americans -- Lehman Brothers -- became the biggest company ever to file for bankruptcy. In succeeding days, then weeks, then months, the panic-inducing phrase “global financial crisis” lunged out of mothballs to frighten, and eventually debilitate, millions of households. Credit seized. Employers retrenched. Jobs vanished. Home values plummeted. Partisans scanned the horizon for culprits, but there was no one place to aim the blame gun;

President Obama hit the crucial 50 percent threshold in the latest poll of Ohio and now leads Mitt Romney by 4 points in the pivotal battleground state, according to a new poll released Friday by CNN. The poll carried a margin of error of 3.5 percent, just below the president's lead. The president was boosted in the state by a significant lead among women, leading Romney
