Tammy Baldwin has come under fire for taking a $60,000 contribution from the Council for a Liveable World. In the October 18 debate with Gov. Tommy Thompson, Baldwin went on to deny having any knowledge of the group. The Council is a Pro-Iran operation that opposes sanctions against Iran and supports the current Iranian political regime. (Snip) In fact, Baldwin recently flip-flopped on the issue of sanctioning Iran. Now that she has to answer to the state of Wisconsin in her Senate campaign, rather than her usual, more liberal constituency in Madison, Baldwin has flipped on her support for sanctions

A gunman dressed in military fatigues has launched a shooting spree at a suburban Milwaukee spa and he is thought to have been targeting his estranged wife who worked as a stylist at the salon and had a court order of protection against him. A 45-year-old man named Radcliffe Haughton was identified as the suspect who shot an estimated seven people at a day spa in Brookfield, Wisconsin on Sunday afternoon. He is still at large. During the investigation, police found an Improvised explosive device on the scene, prompting them to issue a call for extreme caution.

In the game of poker it’s called a “tell.” A player raises his left eyebrow or licks his lower lip or makes some other unintentional but revealing gesture every time he draws a third jack or, alternatively, bluffs. A skilled opponent uses this to his advantage. In Monday night’s third and final presidential debate, we will see whether Mitt Romney is skilled enough to read Barack Obama’s “tell” on Benghazi. He already used it, tipping his hand in Debate 2, but Romney either missed it or failed to call the president out on it. (Snip) Did you notice the difference?

Guantanamo Bay - Guantanamo detainee Majid Khan has an adorable kitten. Maybe. A week-long investigation into Guantanamo’s feline affairs couldn’t determine the case for sure. “No detainees are provided pets, and detainees are not authorized to keep animals, as they present a health and sanitation hazard,” wrote Navy Capt. KING CITY, Calif. -- California's central valley was jiggled by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake Sunday, days after the anniversary of the big Bay Area quake of 1987, seismologists said. Sunday's shaker occurred shortly before midnight PDT and was centered outside King City, about 160 miles south-southeast of Sacramento, the U.S. Geological Survey said. There were no reports of damage or injury in the rural area. The USGS said the quake occurred along California's famed San Andreas Fault, which triggered the famed 1906 San Francisco Earthquake and the Loma Prieta quake in Oct. 17, 1989, which killed 64 people

Deputies were on the scene of a shooting at Azana Salon and Spa across the street from Brookfield Square Mall, the Associated Press reports. Van Jones defending President Barack Obama‘s foreign policy record on This Week, noting that there’s a rather clear reason the GOP is going after his handling of the attack in Libya. Obama “is a towering figure on foreign policy,” he argued. “I don’t have any doubt in my mind that the State Department wanted to protect every single citizen in all these embassies,” Greta Van Susteren said, “and it’s a lot easier in 20/20 hindsight to say, ‘Oh we should’ve answered that cable in a different way.’” What she didn’t understand, she added, was why the president

Moscow - Russian security forces have killed 49 Islamist militants and captured 30 others in a series of coordinated raids in the strife-ridden North Caucasus region, the country's top anti-terrorism agency claimed on Sunday. At least nine leaders of the insurgency – which is being waged across the region in an attempt to set up an Islamic caliphate – were said to have been killed and a bomb-making factory was discovered. Nearly six weeks later, the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, that left Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans dead is still shrouded in mystery. A clearer outline of the attack, though, is emerging. A credible witness tells Fox News that, prior to the attack, he heard a mob approaching the mission’s front gate, chanting blood-thirsty slogans, before they broke in. He said it was less like a demonstration and more like a warm-up to battle. (Snip) The attack, Fox News is told by multiple witnesses, was strong, multi-pronged and organized. A top advisor to Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney warned that the Obama administration may be about to “jettison” its international partners as the president contemplates one-on-one talks with Iran over its nuclear weapons program. Obama's side emphasized his commitment to the international coalition that the U.S. has led against Iran and credited the president with bringing worldwide pressure to bear on the Tehran regime. The two sides clashed via representatives on the Sunday morning talk shows as President Obama and Romney prepared for Monday's final campaign debate, which is scheduled to focus on foreign policy.

At least 22 people have died in days of fighting in Libya's town of Bani Walid, state news agency Lana says. It says that some 200 people were injured in the clashes between pro-government militia and gunmen in former leader Muammar Gaddafi's bastion. Libya's new government has struggled to stamp its authority on a country awash with weapons. (Snip) A recording purportedly by Mr Ibrahim later appeared on the internet denying the news. And on Sunday, Deputy Prime Minister Mustafa Abu Shagur said that the announcement about Mr Ibrahim's arrest had been made without confirmation of the news.

It sounds cliched, but it is a truism: America is at a crossroads. It can continue down the path of Leviathan government and an increasing dependence on it, or America can return to the path of limited government and the kind of prosperity-producing independence on which the Founders based this great republic. The choice is yours. Our choice is the latter. And that’s why we enthusiastically endorse Republican Mitt Romney for president of the United States. He’s an exceptionally good and decent man who is a proven leader, administrator and deft politician

A court in Hamburg has handed down prison sentences to 10 Somali pirates who hijacked the German freighter cargo ship MS Taipan in 2010. The trial lasted almost two years, making it one of the longest in postwar German history. It was hampered primarily by linguistic difficulties and problems establishing the age of the defendants. (Snip) "I was born under a tree," one of them had replied when asked about his place of birth. The three youngest were given two-year sentences, while the other seven were given sentences of six to seven years.

The Gazette-Journal recommends a vote for former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney for president of the United States. It wasn’t an easy decision. A recommendation against an incumbent can’t be taken lightly. President Barack Obama inherited a ghastly mess when he took office in January 2009. He demonstrated a clear understanding in his inaugural address, when he stated, “That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened …”

In Tuesday's debate, Governor Mitt Romney demonstrated the flawed nature of his approach to national security. Instead of outlining a clear and coherent vision of what he would do as commander in chief, he has chosen to attack the administration for alleged weakness. This accusation is based on assertions – that the president has failed to support allies or stand up for America – that are simply not supported by facts. Recall that, on his first day in office, President Obama confronted two hot wars, a persistent terrorist threat, a global economic crisis

Vice President Joe Biden told supporters the Lilly Ledbetter Act is “not a big deal in terms of equal pay” at a St. Augustine, Fla., campaign event Saturday. Biden: All the Lilly Ledbetter said was if a woman finds out she’s been treated and treated wrongly, cheated in terms of her salary and benefits at work. That she’s able to sue from the moment she finds out. That’s all it said. Because they were locked out they said that if you didn’t learn within two years you were being cheated then you’re out of luck. But we changed the law.

The chairman of the House Armed Services Committee is demanding answers from four senior United States military officers about whether there was advance warning of terrorist threats and the need for greater security prior to last month’s terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi. However, an aide to the chairman, Rep. Howard “Buck” McKeon, (R., Calif.), said the office of secretary of defense Leon Panetta blocked the senior officers from providing the answers last night. “The chairman is disappointed that the administration won’t respond to this basic request for information,” the aide said.

Paris - France's foreign minister says Iran appears on track to reach the ability to produce a nuclear weapon by the first half of next year. France is one of six countries that have negotiated with Tehran over its nuclear program, which Iran insists is peaceful. Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius told Europe-1 radio Sunday that unspecified experts "have established in an absolutely indisputable way" that Iran has compiled a full array of centrifuges that "apparently will allow the ability to go toward possession of the nuclear weapon by the first half of next year, the end of the first half."

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is pushing a scheme that would purport to give an unelected official within the increasingly powerful but unpopular European Union the authority to veto the budgets of elected national governments. If approved, the EU would have more power over its formerly sovereign members than even the U.S. federal government has been able to usurp from American states. Speaking to the German Parliament before an EU summit on October 18, Merkel declared that it was time for the emerging Brussels-based super-state to have even more powers. "We have made good progress on strengthening fiscal discipline with the

In September, the Obama campaign collected $2,199,204.38 in donations with non-existent or invalid ZIP codes. The Romney campaign’s September total: just $29,620. The revelation comes from a Government Accountability Institute (GAI) report to be issued tomorrow that combed the Federal Election Commission (FEC) data to determine the effectiveness of each campaign’s donation security system. “The use of a robust Address Verification System (AVS) would significantly minimize donations with invalid zip codes from slipping through the net,” said GAI President Peter Schweizer. “When you use your credit card at a pay-at-the-pump gas station, you have to enter your zip code.
