Florida - Mitt Romney mocked President Barack Obama Friday for his "petty attacks" on the Republican challenger, saying the incumbent was playing word games instead of justifying his bid for a second term. Romney took the stage in the political battleground of Florida, quickly berating Obama for comments early Friday when he branded his rival an untrustworthy flip-flopper suffering from "Romnesia". "They've been reduced to petty attacks and silly word games," Romney told a crowd of more than 8,500 people at the Daytona Beach Bandshell, as the two candidates stumped for votes just 18 days

Us Magazine had a little tidbit of gossip when it discovered who made Ann Romney's and Michelle Obama's hot pink dresses worn to the recent presidential debate. In its headline Us blares that Ann Romney's dress cost "$1,690." But Michelle Obama's ensemble was priced at $3,290 despite the silence of the headline. Us gives the world the following headline: "Ann Romney Wears $1,690 Oscar de la Renta Dress to Presidential Debate." (Snip) And yet, "public servant" Michelle Obama's outfit was almost twice as costly as Romney's. Obama, 48, styled a shift dress and cropped jacket from Michael Kors' 2013 resort

The Navy took control of a Swedish ship carrying pro-Palestinian activists towards Gaza on Saturday, and towed the vessel to Ashdod instead. The activists refused all Israeli requests to divert their course, and had declared that their intention was to violate Israel's naval blockade on the Gaza Strip. "When those onboard made it clear they had no intention of cooperating or accepting the invitation to arrive at Ashdod Port, it was decided to take control of the ship and bring it to Ashdod," the IDF said. Navy commandos took over the Estelle without the use of force, and offered the

Gallup's latest tracking numbers put Mitt Romney ahead of Barack Obama 52% to 45%, the largest lead for Romney since the race began. Historically at least, no one has ever lost with numbers like these, at this stage in the race. According to past Gallup polls, Obama was ahead of Sen. John McCain 52% to 41% in October, George W. Bush had John Kerry beat 52% to 44%, and Bush was up 3% on Al Gore in 2000. (Snip) White voters, in fact, have eluded Obama and the Democratic Party in increasing numbers. As it currently stands, Romney is up by more than 20 points among white voters in a slew of

A California man arrested on child pornography charges has been linked to the foiled plot by a young Bangladeshi to blow up the New York Federal Reserve, the New York Times reported Friday. The Times said Howard Willie Carter II was arrested after an FBI agent found 1,000 images and three video files containing child pornography on a laptop and hard drive in the trash near his San Diego apartment. After tracing the computer back to Carter, investigators found emails on it addressed to "Yaqeen," a name that had surfaced in the investigation of the bomb plot.

The federal government has quietly ended a 433-year-old historical controversy by officially recognizing a cove on the Point Reyes Peninsula as the site where Sir Francis Drake landed in 1579 and claimed California for England. The mystery of where England's most famous and feared sea captain landed has long intrigued maritime scholars. Many of them claimed Drake landed in a cove near Point Reyes in what is now Marin County, but others cited what they said was evidence that Drake put ashore in spots ranging from San Francisco Bay to Alaska, Oregon, British Columbia or

CHICAGO— It's legal to get an abortion in America, but in many places it is hard and getting harder. Just this year, 17 states set new limits on abortion; 24 did last year, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a pro-abortion rights nonprofit whose numbers are widely respected. In several states with the most restrictive laws, the number of abortions has fallen slightly, pleasing abortion opponents who say the laws are working. Some of the states with the toughest laws are spread across a big middle swath of the country, stretching from Canada to the Gulf of Mexico.

PARIS— A correspondent for France 24 TV was "savagely attacked" near Cairo's Tahrir Square after being seized by a crowd, the network said Saturday. It was the latest case of violence against women at the epicenter of Egypt's restive protests. The news channel said in a statement that Sonia Dridi was attacked around 10:30 p.m. Friday after a live broadcast on a protest at the square and was later rescued by a colleague and other witnesses. France 24 did not give further details about the attack, but it said its employees were safe and sound, though "extremely shocked,"

A Democratic super PAC with ties to the White House announced Saturday that it plans to reinvigorate its efforts from earlier this summer to attack Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney for his leadership at private equity firm Bain Capital. Bill Burton, a former Obama spokesman who runs Priorities USA Action, suggested in a Saturday memo that the best way to stop Romney from rising in the polls is to remind voters of his “time in the private sector and the devastating impact he had on middle class Americans.” “Polling data clearly illustrates that Mitt Romney’s business

I started borrowing books from a roving Quaker City bookmobile when I was 7 years old. Things quickly got out of hand. Before I knew it I was borrowing every book about the Romans, every book about the Apaches, every book about the spindly third-string quarterback who comes off the bench in the fourth quarter to bail out his team. (Snip)I even tried to spend an entire year reading books I had always suspected I would hate: "Middlemarch," "Look Homeward, Angel," "Babbitt." Luckily, that project ran out of gas quickly,

PHILADELPHIA— A survey of about 1,100 Americans finds that more than 4-in-10 respondents admit they don’t have more than $500 in readily accessible savings. The survey is a kind of departure for CreditDonkey.com, a website that compares credit card deals. Not respondents all were poor. Some had big houses, big mortgages or 401(k)s, but still no more than five Benjamins to rub together right now. Jill Michal, president and CEO of the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey, reacts to the lack of liquid assets.

Detroit was once the industrial capital of the nation. But, decades of economic decline and a ruinous recession have turned the Motor City into America's crime capital. For the fourth year in a row, Forbes.com has rated Detroit, Michigan, as the most dangerous city in the country -- with a violent crime rate of 2,137 per 100,000 residents. Many of the other places on the list are also declining industrial powerhouse cities that have been left ravaged by dwindling blue-collar jobs and rising unemployment.Baltimore, Maryland, ranked number seven; Cleveland, Ohio, number nine; and Buffalo, New York, number ten;

The Obama administration appears to be mounting yet another version of its campaign to push back on claims that it misled on the intelligence related to the attacks in Benghazi on 9/11/12. But the new offensive by the administration, which contradicts many of its earlier claims and simply disregards intelligence that complicates its case, is raising fresh questions in the intelligence community and on Capitol Hill about the manipulation of intelligence for political purposes. (Snip) The administration's new line takes shape in two articles out Saturday, one in the Los Angeles Times and the other by Washington Post columnist David Ignatius.

WILLOW BEACH, Ariz. — A charter bus carrying tourists back from the Grand Canyon careened off a northwest Arizona highway late Friday night and crashed, killing the driver and injuring more than 20 passengers, six of them seriously, authorities said. The bus was northbound on Highway 93 and nearing the Nevada state line when the driver suffered a physical problem and lost control shortly before 8 p.m., the Arizona highway patrol said. The vehicle hit a ravine, tore up a small hill, and then bounced and lurched over rough terrain for more than 700 feet before stopping, damaging

With Friday's Gallup tracking poll showing Mitt Romney with a 51-45 lead over Barack Obama, the crew at NBC's Today decided to focus on a much more reliable method of predicting the next President of the United States: Halloween mask sales. Co-host Matt Lauer announced: "...there's some science behind this when it comes to the election. For example, according to the Huffington Post, this year Obama masks are out-selling Romney masks by more than 30%." The ongoing collapse of President Obama's campaign may lead to some extraordinary stunts during Monday's last debate, but no matter what he tries, it is very unlikely that the president can reverse the enormous momentum behind Mitt Romney's campaign. (One data point. Congressman John Campbell, a frequent guest on my radio show, polled his district this week. It is California's 45. John McCain carried it by 4.7 points in 2008. Mitt Romney is almost 20 points ahead in this cycle. Campbell reports that this sort of result is showing up across the country.) The nation is simply finished with a president

You could see the pained expression on President Obama's face worsen as a 61-year-old undecided voter told the president during the second presidential debate that he and some co-workers... became aware of reports that the State Department refused extra security for our embassy in Benghazi.[Snip]The Obama administration was refusing to provide... adequate security for a U.S. ambassador... but the administration also committed to spending millions of dollars a year to provide a six-person, round-the-clock Secret Service detail to protect the assistant to the president for public engagement and intergovernmental affairs. Washington, Oct. 20 (ANI): Former US President Bill Clinton has said that President Barack Obama is facing a tough re-election race because "impatient" Americans haven't fully recognized an economy on the mend. Campaigning for Obama in Green Bay, Wisconsin, Clinton urged voters to judge Obama on the past three years since he took office, in which private sector job growth has made up for lost ground. "This shouldn't be a race. The only reason it is, is because Americans are impatient on things not made before yesterday and they don't understand why the economy is not totally hunky

'I try to forget I had a good life," Wisconsin Sen. Ron Johnson wistfully quips about his career before being elected in 2010—or as good a life as could be had running a business in the midst of an unrelenting regulatory and rhetorical assault from Washington. Mr. Johnson jumped into the fire two years ago when he toppled progressive Democrat Russ Feingold in one of the year's marquee Senate races. He met with Journal editors this week to discuss what he has learned during his first two years in office and what he hopes to accomplish in the next four.

Having a president who perpetuates a falsehood to the American people about the cause of a terrorist attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi that resulted in the deaths of four Americans. Having a president who uses $70,000 of taxpayers’ money to promote that falsehood on Pakistani television. Cover-Up: America's slain ambassador in Libya repeatedly sought security which went unheeded, new documents show. The CIA, meanwhile, told Washington within 24 hours that the Benghazi attack was terrorism. So where was our president? The sorry answer is that it's starting to look as though he and his team knew all along that the attack in Libya was a terrorism from the start. That hasn't been what he's presented to the public. But instead of owning up to it, the White House has perpetrated the red herring that a old YouTube video depicting Islam
