At the Daily Kos, they're feeling cocky after the last two debates, insisting the Dems won both. "LeftHandedMan" wrote "Obama got Romney laughed at. F---ing laughed at. Taking it to them is better. Taking it to Movement Conservatism itself would be best." He insisted it should be sitting on the ash heap of history with communism. He wrote of a ridiculously wimpy news media and Democrat establishment: "Sadly, the Movement Conservative Right, free of having to deal with such troublesome matters as 'facts' and 'math', and aided by a methodically gelded traditional

Yesterday, we learned that despite all of Obama’s whining about not getting equal time during Tuesday’s debate, he actually talked for 3 minutes longer. And I joked that he needed that extra time for all his muttering and stuttering and “Uh, uh, uhhhhhh.” Well, guess what? TMZ broke this story, which tells you something about the state of the news industry, I suppose: CNN’s Managing Editor sent an email around the office today, praising Candy Crowley and trying to blunt criticism that she was unfair to Mitt Romney. The email — sent by Mark Whitaker

One of the most fascinating examples of how the Democratic Party relies on reactionary, even fuddy-duddy, ideology to maintain power is their conception of the role of women in our society. The party and their media minions treat (or pretend to treat) women like an oppressed class when the female population in our colleges and graduate schools (notably law and medicine) has already outstripped or will soon outstrip the male in almost every area save engineering and science, and they are gaining in those. They are also invading the boardrooms and the political arena as never before.

A State Department report earlier this year lauded security at the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, just a few months before it was overrun by heavily armed Islamic extremists in an attack that killed four Americans. The report, a 2011 review by the Bureau of Diplomatic Security, states that while the rebellion against Libyan strongman Moammar Gadhafi was still raging last year, diplomatic security staff went to Benghazi, the birthplace and center of the revolution, to find secure facilities there for U.S. diplomats.

Washington – It doesn't matter how many times Hillary Clinton says she won't make another bid for the White House in 2016. There is always someone that a) doesn't believe her b) hopes she will change her mind or c) wants to prevent her from running. In an interview with Marie Claire magazine, published Thursday, Clinton insists she's done with politics for good. When asked by writer Ayalet Waldman if she will run again for president, she laughed.

AUSTIN, Texas- A Texas judge is expected to rule Thursday whether a group of cheerleaders should be allowed to continue quoting biblical scripture on banners at high school football games. District officials barred the Kountze High School cheerleaders from displaying banners with religious messages such as, "If God is for us, who can be against us," after the Freedom From Religion Foundation complained. The advocacy group says the messages violated the First Amendment clause barring the government - or a publicly funded school district, in this case - from establishing or endorsing a religion.

President Obama’s incessant Bush-blaming may be wearing thin with the electorate, but there’s at least one group out there still happy to believe the worst about our 43rd president and his government. Not surprisingly, they’re left-wing celebrities. Hollywood, although not shy about promoting conspiracy theories in films, has eschewed the dark fantasy that 9/11 was an inside job. Until now. A new film, “September Morn,” is being planned by Fleur de Lis Film Studios. The film questions whether the events of 9/11 were really caused by Islamic terrorists. The Guardian reports that the film’s advance notice states:

VAN SUSTEREN: Well, that is all the explanation most of us got from President Obama, but after the debate, the president spoke privately with Kerry Ladka, the man who asked the question. So did Mr. Ladka finally get the answers he was looking for? He joins us. Good evening, sir. KERRY LADKA, TOWN HALL DEBATE QUESTIONER: Good evening, Greta. VAN SUSTEREN: Well, I've reread the transcript for your question, Who was it that denied enhanced security, why, read the president's answer. You never got the answer. You got a big sort of run-around answer from it.

NEW YORK- Newsweek will end its print publication after 80 years and shift to an all-digital format in early 2013. Its last U.S. print edition will be its Dec. 31 issue. The paper version of Newsweek is the latest casualty of a changing world where readers get more of their information from websites, tablets and smartphones. It's also an environment in which advertisers are looking for less expensive alternatives online. Newsweeklies have been in an especially tough spot at a time when people don't want to wait a week to read commentary and news digests of big stories,

President Obama brought up Planned Parenthood three separate times at Tuesday’s town hall debate. It was an appeal aimed directly at a key part of his base: If he is reelected, it will be because of the Single Nation. Democrats have woken up to the huge political rifts that have emerged over the past 30 years—between married and single people, and people with kids and those who don’t have them. And save African Americans, there may be no constituency more loyal to the president and his party than the growing ranks of childless and single Americans.

NEW YORK — Google’s stock is plunging after it released its third-quarter earnings report early, apparently by mistake. The company’s stock is down 7.4 percent in afternoon trading, at $699.51. Google was set to report its results after the market closed. In a regulatory filing, Google Inc. says it earned $2.18 billion, or $6.53 per share, during the three months ending in September. That compared with net income of $2.73 billion, or $8.33 per share, last year.

Comedian and radio host Dennis Miller tweeted from his road trip with Mitt Romney this week, a campaign trail adventure that included one of the GOP nominee's famous peanut butter and honey sandwiches and the two men cracking jokes behind the scenes. Miller told a crowd at a campaign event in Virginia on Wednesday that Romney does say "gosh" a lot. “Isn’t it time we get back to the 'gosh' president?” he asked. Miller said Romney would be the "gosh president" to President Obama's "hipster president."

More than a thousand “perversion files,” each naming an alleged child molester banned from scouting by the Boy Scouts of America, will go on line later today. The BSA fought for decades to keep the files secret, arguing that people might be less likely to report abuse if they think those reports might become public. The files cover the years 1965-85 and include cases from all over the nation. Texas cases include files on 71 men, most of them scoutmasters, who were banned from scouting for homosexuality or because they faced criminal charges for child sex abuse.

Actress Eva Longoria isn't just an actress, nor is she merely a supporter of President Obama's. The truth is that she holds an esteemed, high-profile and official position with the Obama campaign as a co-chair. Moreover, Longoria enjoyed a prime speaking slot at the Democratic convention and is a vital and official part of Obama's efforts to reach out to Hispanics. Longoria is also a full-throated leftist, which manifested itself yesterday when this tweet was re-tweeted in her verified account: (Snip) Granted re-tweets aren't necessarily endorsements, but with no irony or pushback sprinkled into the

CNN has sent out talking points to its staff, directing them to say that Candy Crowley was merely 'stating a point of fact' about the Libya 'terror' row and insisting that Barack Obama only got more time than Mitt Romney because he speaks slowly. In an email to all CNN staff, the network's managing editor Mark Whitaker congratulated his anchoron her role as moderator and washing over the controversy over her effectively siding with Obama over Romney on a question concerning the U.S. Consulate attack in Libya last month. A nation where governments are elected by the people is most vulnerable at the interface between the politicians and the people. The interface is where the people learn what the politicians stand for and where the politicians learn what the people want. The bigger a country gets, the harder it is to pick up on that consensus by stopping by a coffee shop or an auto repair store. That’s where the Medicracy steps in to control the consensus. The media is no longer informative, it is conformative.

One day after a vicious debate performance, President Barack Obama has quipped that he is 'still trying to figure out how to get the hang' of debates but ventured that he is improving as he goes along. Despite the fierce attacks on Mitt Romney, there was bad news for the president on Wednesday as his Republican challenger extended his lead in the Gallup tracking poll to six points, picking up the backing of 51 per cent of people, compared to 45 per cent for the incumbent. Obama was speaking in Mount Vernon, Iowa,

In a staff memo, Mark Whitaker defends the debate moderator, arguing that Obama got more speaking time because he talks "more slowly" and that the network is going to do a word-count comparison between him and Romney. Amid harsh criticism of debate moderator Candy Crowley, CNN is looking to put a positive spin on her performance. On Wednesday, during an editorial meeting and in a recap memo, a copy of which was obtained by The Hollywood Reporter, CNN Worldwide executive vp and managing editor Mark Whitaker praised CNN's Crowley for doing "a superb job"

Wisconsin’s voters are poised to break new ground on the cultural front: electing the first openly lesbian U.S. senator. This would mark a watershed for the homosexual movement — and a major blow against traditional America. The Badger State has become ground zero in the key battles of our time. The left’s desperate efforts to repeal Gov. Scott Walker’s fiscal reforms went down in flames. Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan has emerged as champion of the Tea Party. The Republican vice presidential nominee has made confronting our debt crisis a signature issue. When it comes to deficits,

Looking like something out of an apocalyptic Hollywood film, much of the small town of Bucyrus was burned to the ground after being swept up in a raging wildfire Wednesday. Aided by winds in excess of 60 mph, a fire estimated by firefighters to be nearly 10 miles long continued to burn into the night in Adams County, swallowing up several homes in its path and causing evacuations and panic. Homes were seen burning or burned to the ground as of 9 p.m., decimating structures and sending residents scrambling. As of late Wednesday night, there were no reports of injuries.

A federal appeals court in Manhattan has become the second in the nation to strike down the Defense of Marriage Act as unconstitutional. The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued its ruling Thursday. The decision upholds a lower court judge who ruled that the 1996 law that defines marriage as involving a man and a woman was unconstitutional. The three-judge panel says the law violates equal protection. A federal appeals court in Boston earlier this year also found it unconstitutional.

Americans got to watch two debates last night -- the debate before and after CNN's Candy Crowley's ill-considered intervention as moderator-in-chief. In the first half of Tuesday night's "town hall" style debate, Mitt Romney appeared confident, articulate, and quick to challenge President Obama’s policies and performance in office. But after Crowley told Romney that he was wrong about how Obama had characterized the killings of a U.S. ambassador and three other officials in Libya, Obama was emboldened and Romney was clearly on the defensive. Crowley’s intervention not only ignored her duty to be a neutral moderator,

In campaign speeches this year, President Obama has frequently said some variation on the following line: “I said we’d refocus on the people who actually attacked us on 9/11, and today, al Qaeda is on the run, and Osama bin Laden is dead.” At a Oct. 17 campaign event in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, however, the al Qaeda line was missing. Obama has said al Qaeda has been “decimated” or the group is “on its heels” or “on the run” at various points this year — including after the Sept. 11, 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi.
