ABC News confirmed on Wednesday that President Obama was a guest at the 1991 wedding of ABC senior foreign affairs correspondent Martha Raddatz, who is set to moderate the vice presidential debate on Thursday night. The news, which was first reported by the conservative website The Daily Caller, prompted howls of disapproval from conservatives, who questioned whether Raddatz will be a neutral moderator. In a statement, an ABC spokesman called accusations that Raddatz has a conflict of interest "absurd." There is no evidence that Obama and Raddatz are close, but the president is friends with her now-ex-husband, Julius Genachowski.

Paul Ryan, who was just two years old when Vice President Joe Biden entered the U.S. Senate, could deliver a major blow to President Barack Obama's hopes of re-election if he prevails in tomorrow's debate in Kentucky. Although the Romney campaign has been publicly playing down the chances of Representative Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, scoring a major victory in the vice-presidential debate, privately hopes are high that he could do very well. Biden, who was a Senator for 36 years, is legendarily verbose and prone to verbal slips which have been a boon to the Romney campaign

Thomas Peterffy, chairman and chief executive officer of Interactive Brokers Group and a pioneer in electric trading, has produced his own pro-Republican ad for the election. He is doing this independent of the party. Peterffy told the Examiner via email that he intends to spend $5-10 million on the ad “depending upon how effective it is found to be.” The will run through the election and be broadcast on “CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, and test markets in Ohio and Wisconsin, (and) possibly Florida.” In the ad, he addresses the camera directly, talking about his youth in socialist Hungary

The woman who founded the Children’s Television Workshop, which created Sesame Street, is a maxed-out contributor to the Obama campaign and a significant donor to the Obama-backing Priorities USA Super PAC, campaign finance records show. Joan Ganz Cooney contributed the the maximum $35,800 to the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee, plus an additional $30,400 that could be distributed by the "Obama Victory Fund" to state parties. She then gave $50,000 to the Priorities USA Super PAC that is backing Obama's re-election. Additionally, records show that Cooney gave $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee Services

On 30 October 2008, I wrote about a bizarre idiosyncrasy I discovered in the Obama fundraising website, which was designed by a company named Blue State Digital. Will the innovations never cease? Yesterday I described several, eh, unique capabilities pioneered by the Obama campaign in the area of campaign contributions.(Snip) Anyhow, an anonymous tipster mentioned that checking out the source code of the Obama donation website... would reveal some interesting logic. Specifically that IP addresses of the donors can be easily spoofed through a hidden field in the form. The tipster's guess was (and I concur) that the Obama campaign

Mia Love, the Republican nominee for Utah's 4th Congressional District, has pulled ahead of Democratic incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson in the polls. According to the latest Desert News/ KSL, Love, the mayor of Saratoga Springs, is polling 6 points ahead of Congressman Matheson. Matheson is the only Democrat in the Utah congressional delegation and attempts to distance himself from his party, given the remarkably conservative district he represents. Although he voted against the the original health care law in 2010, he voted with the Democrats in January of 2011 against the repeal of the health care law.

Ann Romney talked dancing horses and dancing stars, but not politics, this morning as the wife of GOP nominee Mitt Romney co-hosted “Good Morning America.” Long-called her husband’s “secret weapon” for her ability to humanize the often stiff seeming candidate, Romney has become an increasingly popular figure this campaign season. A recent ABC News/ Washington Post poll found her favorability rating jumping 12 points between April and October, making her almost as popular as first lady Michelle Obama. “After raising five boys, I’m ready for anything that’s thrown my way,”

The Obama administration's lies about the Benghazi attack continue to unravel. The President would like us to believe that he and his spokespeople have merely passed on the best intelligence they had as it evolved. But the State Department said yesterday that it never concluded that there was a protest outside the consulate. (Snip) By September 13, the President had internally designated the attack an act of terrorism so that he would have the legal authority to mobilize military and intelligence assets. But, for the next five days, his spokespeople, most notably Press Secretary Jay Carney

The ceremony, where President Obama also spoke, was held September 14, three days after the attack, and was broadcast live across the nation on television. The video, the Obama administration long suggested, was what sparked attacks against Americans, in Libya and elsewhere across the Muslim world.

Stephanie Caballero is the regional field director for Obama’s Organizing For America in Houston, Texas. Federal Election Commission documents show, according to Project Veritas, that Caballero is a “salaried employee of the DNC [Democratic National Committee].” Caballero is caught on camera helping the young woman try to vote in Florida and Texas in the upcoming election.

Conceding that he failed to deliver at last week’s debate, President Obama says he was “just too polite” and that voters should expect “a little more activity” next week in round two. In a radio interview on the “Tom Joyner Morning Show,” Obama compared the presidential race to a seven-game basketball series in which he was ahead two-nothing and lost one game to Mitt Romney at the debate. (Snip) “You have a seven-game series, we’re up two zero and we lose one,” he explained. “You know, this is a long haul and I think that

Okay, Steven Spielberg said what he said about Democrats and Republicans at his prerelease press conference promoting "Lincoln," his next movie which will be released just after Election Day. And of course he's spectacularly wrong in claiming that the country's two major political parties have "traded political places over the last 150 years." If that were the entire story and Reuters reporter Christine Kearney (pictured here at LinkedIn) had simply relayed what Spielberg said, this post wouldn't be about media bias. But is, because Ms. Kearney herself took a journey into the land of make-believe with this subsequent

More sparks are flying in the Missouri Senate race as Senator Claire McCaskill faces questions about her husband receiving tens of millions of dollars in federal subsidies. News 4 has been looking into the story and reached out to both campaigns. While Akin’s campaign didn’t seem to want to talk about it, McCaskill’s campaign came back quickly to answer where the $40 million came from and where it went. ‘This is another baseless unfounded attack by congressman akin,” said McCaskill spokeswoman Caitlin Legacki. A defiant Jack Welch, the former CEO of General Electric, today maintained that the September jobs report, which saw unemployment drop to 7.8 per cent, is 'downright implausible' and blasted criticism of him from Obama backers as reminiscent of Communist China. Welch created a furore last week when he tweeted that the sharp drop in the unemployment rate was 'unbelievable" and that Obama and his campaign aides 'will do anything ... can't debate so change numbers'. Hilda Solis, the U.S. Labour Secretary branded such talk as 'ludicrous' and economists, commentators and the media portrayed

A Chuck E. Cheese employee is accused of stabbing a woman with a box cutter after an argument about a salad plate, police said. Shardonnae Pruitt, 19, of the 9600 block of South Merrion Avenue, was charged with simple assault and battery after the incident late last month, according to Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak. The patron, 25, told police Pruitt stabbed her around 3:15 p.m. on Sept. 30 at the restaurant at 5030 S. Kedzie Ave., Kubiak said. Yesterday, liberal commentator Andrew Sullivan had a spectacular online meltdown. Having spent months prophesying Obama’s inevitable re-election, with the certainty of a preacher awaiting Christ’s return, Sullivan flipped out when polls showed Romney edging ahead post-debate. Citing Pew’s report that puts the President 4 points behind, he wrote “I've never seen a candidate self-destruct for no external reason this late in a campaign before.” The Atlantic replied, “Geez … It's rare to see a single poll induce such an epic freakout … but it is certainly channeling a particular strain of worry infecting the president's fans.” Personally, I’m overjoyed.

The Obama campaign beclowned itself this morning on a conference call attacking Mitt Romney's "dishonesty on abortion," in an attempt to stop Romney's effort "to close the deal" (in the words of Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter). Not content to point out possible contradictions in Romney's statements, the campaign flat-out lied about his position, using attacks that have been discredited even by Obama-friendly fact-checkers. Cutter cited an Associated Press story about Romney's interview with the Des Moines Register in which the AP reported him as saying that "he would not pursue any abortion-related legislation if elected president

How rich do you have to be in Barack Obama's America to pay the whole tab for your own abortion? What about a divorced 38-year-old public school principal who has three children and earns $90,000 per year? Would she need to personally pay the full fair to have a doctor kill her fourth child while that child was still in her womb? Under Obamacare, the federal government will force taxpayers to help her buy insurance that pays for abortions. Back in March, the Obama administration published the 166-page regulation governing the establishment of Obamacare's state health-insurance exchanges.

The White House, in an apparent appeal to pet owners, celebrated the occasion, posting photos that show how much the president likes the dog whose name is spelled with Barack Obama's initials. "It has been a very busy year for America's First Dog here at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue," the White House blogged, urging readers to "check out some of our favorite moments" with the first family's pet.
