Thomas Peterffy, chairman and chief executive officer of Interactive Brokers Group and a pioneer in electric trading, has produced his own pro-Republican ad for the election. He is doing this independent of the party. Peterffy told the Examiner via email that he intends to spend $5-10 million on the ad “depending upon how effective it is found to be.” The will run through the election and be broadcast on “CNN, CNBC, Bloomberg, and test markets in Ohio and Wisconsin, (and) possibly Florida.” In the ad, he addresses the camera directly, talking about his youth in socialist Hungary

The woman who founded the Children’s Television Workshop, which created Sesame Street, is a maxed-out contributor to the Obama campaign and a significant donor to the Obama-backing Priorities USA Super PAC, campaign finance records show. Joan Ganz Cooney contributed the the maximum $35,800 to the Obama campaign and Democratic National Committee, plus an additional $30,400 that could be distributed by the "Obama Victory Fund" to state parties. She then gave $50,000 to the Priorities USA Super PAC that is backing Obama's re-election. Additionally, records show that Cooney gave $30,800 to the Democratic National Committee Services

On 30 October 2008, I wrote about a bizarre idiosyncrasy I discovered in the Obama fundraising website, which was designed by a company named Blue State Digital. Will the innovations never cease? Yesterday I described several, eh, unique capabilities pioneered by the Obama campaign in the area of campaign contributions.(Snip) Anyhow, an anonymous tipster mentioned that checking out the source code of the Obama donation website... would reveal some interesting logic. Specifically that IP addresses of the donors can be easily spoofed through a hidden field in the form. The tipster's guess was (and I concur) that the Obama campaign

Mia Love, the Republican nominee for Utah's 4th Congressional District, has pulled ahead of Democratic incumbent Rep. Jim Matheson in the polls. According to the latest Desert News/ KSL, Love, the mayor of Saratoga Springs, is polling 6 points ahead of Congressman Matheson. Matheson is the only Democrat in the Utah congressional delegation and attempts to distance himself from his party, given the remarkably conservative district he represents. Although he voted against the the original health care law in 2010, he voted with the Democrats in January of 2011 against the repeal of the health care law.

Ann Romney talked dancing horses and dancing stars, but not politics, this morning as the wife of GOP nominee Mitt Romney co-hosted “Good Morning America.” Long-called her husband’s “secret weapon” for her ability to humanize the often stiff seeming candidate, Romney has become an increasingly popular figure this campaign season. A recent ABC News/ Washington Post poll found her favorability rating jumping 12 points between April and October, making her almost as popular as first lady Michelle Obama. “After raising five boys, I’m ready for anything that’s thrown my way,”

The Obama administration's lies about the Benghazi attack continue to unravel. The President would like us to believe that he and his spokespeople have merely passed on the best intelligence they had as it evolved. But the State Department said yesterday that it never concluded that there was a protest outside the consulate. (Snip) By September 13, the President had internally designated the attack an act of terrorism so that he would have the legal authority to mobilize military and intelligence assets. But, for the next five days, his spokespeople, most notably Press Secretary Jay Carney

The ceremony, where President Obama also spoke, was held September 14, three days after the attack, and was broadcast live across the nation on television. The video, the Obama administration long suggested, was what sparked attacks against Americans, in Libya and elsewhere across the Muslim world.

Okay, Steven Spielberg said what he said about Democrats and Republicans at his prerelease press conference promoting "Lincoln," his next movie which will be released just after Election Day. And of course he's spectacularly wrong in claiming that the country's two major political parties have "traded political places over the last 150 years." If that were the entire story and Reuters reporter Christine Kearney (pictured here at LinkedIn) had simply relayed what Spielberg said, this post wouldn't be about media bias. But is, because Ms. Kearney herself took a journey into the land of make-believe with this subsequent

The patron was with a 40-year-old man who became angry that Pruitt had taken away his salad plate and threw his utensils on the floor and demanded to see the manager, police said.

Yesterday, liberal commentator Andrew Sullivan had a spectacular online meltdown. Having spent months prophesying Obama’s inevitable re-election, with the certainty of a preacher awaiting Christ’s return, Sullivan flipped out when polls showed Romney edging ahead post-debate. Citing Pew’s report that puts the President 4 points behind, he wrote “I've never seen a candidate self-destruct for no external reason this late in a campaign before.” The Atlantic replied, “Geez … It's rare to see a single poll induce such an epic freakout … but it is certainly channeling a particular strain of worry infecting the president's fans.” Personally, I’m overjoyed.

The Obama campaign beclowned itself this morning on a conference call attacking Mitt Romney's "dishonesty on abortion," in an attempt to stop Romney's effort "to close the deal" (in the words of Obama spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter). Not content to point out possible contradictions in Romney's statements, the campaign flat-out lied about his position, using attacks that have been discredited even by Obama-friendly fact-checkers. Cutter cited an Associated Press story about Romney's interview with the Des Moines Register in which the AP reported him as saying that "he would not pursue any abortion-related legislation if elected president

How rich do you have to be in Barack Obama's America to pay the whole tab for your own abortion? What about a divorced 38-year-old public school principal who has three children and earns $90,000 per year? Would she need to personally pay the full fair to have a doctor kill her fourth child while that child was still in her womb? Under Obamacare, the federal government will force taxpayers to help her buy insurance that pays for abortions. Back in March, the Obama administration published the 166-page regulation governing the establishment of Obamacare's state health-insurance exchanges.

Team Obama came out of that disastrous first debate blaming the debacle on one thing after another, finally settling on the most vicious excuse: Mitt Romney only won because he was a brazen liar. David Axelrod was obnoxious enough to cite as his moral witness one Bill Clinton, who is certainly an authority on lying with a barrel full of chutzpah. Axelrod pledged in every interview that Team Obama would be holding Romney accountable. Fine. That's political theater. But is there anyone in the media who holds Team Obama accountable? Most journalists are too busy hounding Romney.
