The Obama campaign released news on Saturday morning of a holiday weekend, that it had raised a massive $181 million in September. It's a staggering sum heading into the final month of campaigning. It almost equals his fundraising for July and August combined. But details about Obama's fundraising windfall and a new report this morning from the Government Accountability Institute (GAI) raise troubling questions. Specifically, how much of this fundraising was illegal? GAI found that Obama's donation page doesn't use any industry-standard credit card security measures.

It appears Mitt Romney is intent on winning his home state of Michigan next month. On Monday, Kid Rock will introduce Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan at a campaign event in Rochester Hills ending months of speculation about the Detroit rocker's political support. According to a press release obtained by MLive.com, "Kid Rock is one of many award-winning, platinum-selling artists from a variety of genres who are supporting the Romney/Ryan ticket by performing at events and rallies around the country." There's been a lot of speculation the outspoken rocker was going to endorse the GOP ticket.

BBC News has uncovered evidence that weapons intended for the Saudi military have been diverted to Syrian rebels. Three crates from an arms manufacturer - addressed to Saudi Arabia - have been seen in a base being used by rebel fighters in the city of Aleppo. How the small crates reached Aleppo is unknown, and the BBC was not allowed to film their contents. Saudi Arabia has refused to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, a big blast has been heard in a suburb of the capital, Damascus. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a UK-based activist group, said

On Monday, MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell took a moment to address her rather involuntary inclusion in a recent Obama campaign ad. “I want to move on to a point of personal privilege,” she said. “Some viewers might be understandably confused by the fact that the Obama campaign is airing a commercial right now including a video clip of me fact-checking Governor Romney after last week’s debate.” “You should know,” she continued, “that NBC has not granted either campaign permission to use our news material and immediately requested that the campaign refrain from using its material

The latest Pew poll showing former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney ahead of President Obama among likely voters has the potential to rapidly re-orient conventional wisdom about the challenger’s chances of winning. Of course, this is a single poll — although Gallup’s latest tracking also shows movement toward Romney since last Wednesday’s debate — and, as such, should be taken cum grano salis. Still, it’s a major shot in the arm for a Romney campaign that 10 days ago was fighting off “Is it all over?” stories. While the topline numbers in the Pew survey are sexy — politically speaking,

The independently owned website Obama.com, which steers users to the president's campaign donation website, gets most of its traffic from foreign countries, raising questions about the legality of tens of millions of small dollar donations to the campaign, according to a new report.(Snip) Secrets reported late Thursday that a TV network, national magazine and national website were working on the story but were being pressured by the Obama campaign to kill it. Sources said the story was still on hold today.

Art hardly ever comes up as a campaign issue in presidential elections. But once voters decide, the artistic tastes of the first family become well known from the pieces they choose to adorn the White House. Barack Obama has long taken pride in his artistic interests, taking Michelle to the Art Institute of Chicago on their first date, where he impressed his future wife with his knowledge of both the old masters and modern art. When the couple moved into the White House, they selected bright, sharp, modern abstractions for the most part, from artists such as

Mitt Romney has taken the lead over President Obama in a new Pew Research poll released Monday. The poll was conducted last week after the candidates' first presidential debate, which observers widely agreed Romney won. The Republican nominee leads Obama 49 percent to 45 percent among likely voters who were asked who they would pick if the election were held today, the poll found. In September, the poll found Obama leading Romney among likely voters 51 percent to 43 percent.

In an experiment apparently aimed at keeping down the cost of health-care reform, Orlando-based Darden Restaurants has stopped offering full-time schedules to many hourly workers in at least a few Olive Gardens, Red Lobsters and LongHorn Steakhouses. Darden said the test is taking place in ''a select number'' of restaurants in four markets, including Central Florida, but would not give details. The company said there has been no decision made about expanding it. In an emailed statement, Darden said staffing changes are "just one of the many things we are evaluating to help us address

Pasco County Schools confirmed to Fox News that volunteers from Organizing For America were given access to as many as a half dozen high school and middle school campuses. “They did register students to vote,” spokesman John Mann told Fox News. “We don’t know how many children were registered – (but) we have an ongoing investigation.” According to email correspondence obtained by Fox News,

Some time back, I suggested that Romney is so squeaky-clean that, in their campaign, the Obamanistas would be reduced to snark-attacks focusing on the three things upon which they feel they can hurt him -- viz., that he is a rich, white Mormon. That is precisely how the campaign has played out. The Obama allies in the mainstream media (MSM) -- which is to say, the entire MSM -- have written dozens of hit pieces on Mormonism

Mitt Romney's debate performance pushed him into a national lead over President Obama among likely voters, Pew Research Center reports in its latest poll numbers. Romney is leading Obama 49 percent to 45 percent in a poll taken over four days after the debate last week, even though in mid-September, Obama was leading Romney by 8 percentage points. There's a ton of good news for Romney in this poll: Two-thirds of registered voters think Romney won the debate, while only a fifth think Obama did. Romney's favorable rating hit 50 percent among registered voters for the first time.

Mitt Romney no longer trails Barack Obama in the Pew Research Center’s presidential election polling. By about three-to-one, voters say Romney did a better job than Obama in the Oct. 3 debate, and the Republican is now better regarded on most personal dimensions and on most issues than he was in September. Romney is seen as the candidate who has new ideas and is viewed as better able than Obama to improve the jobs situation and reduce the budget deficit. Fully 66% of registered voters say Romney did the better job in last Wednesday’s debate, compared with just 20% who say Obama

Washington - Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie have been tapped to lead the Republican Governors Association. Both are Republican rising stars considered likely White House contenders in 2016 if Mitt Romney loses in November. Jindal will chair the group next year, with Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker as vice-chair. Christie is set to take over in 2014 — a clear sign he may seek re-election in 2013. Christie has said he's still mulling that decision. Governors learned of the plan in an email from Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell, the association's current chair.

After the National Rifle Association endorsed Mitt Romney for president last Thursday, the group aired its first TV ad of the 2012 election season attacking President Obama. The new ad accuses Obama of “chipping away at your rights, chipping away at your freedom.” The NRA’s political arm, NRA Political Victory Fund, said it would spend about $1.5 million this week to air the ad in Ohio, Virginia, Florida and Wisconsin, all critical battlegrounds. The group said it planned to air TV ads in swing states through Election Day. When asked for the grand total the NRA-PVF planned to spend on

California East Bay Rep. Pete Stark, a 20-term Democrat facing the toughest race of his career, refuses to debate his Democratic opponent Eric Swalwell, calls press questions “stupid,” and was a no-show at a senior voter candidates’ forum this week in his CD-15 district. Fairfield, Va. - Mitt Romney ordered his motorcade to make an abrupt U-turn in rural Virginia today, after zipping by a group of elementary school students waving in the front yard of the school, so he could go back and meet them. Former Penn State defensive coach Jerry Sandusky will address the courtroom and proclaim his innocence when he is sentenced Tuesday in his child sex abuse case, lawyer Joe Amendola told CBS News. Sandusky, 68, was convicted in June on 45 counts of child sexual abuse for molesting 10 boys over 15 years after meeting them through a charity for at-risk children. Nobody else is expected to speak on Sandusky's behalf during the sentencing hearing Tuesday in Bellefonte, Amendola said, according to The Associated Press.

Thursday's vice presidential debate will not receive nearly as much attention as the battles between Mitt Romney and President Barack Obama. After all, the debates between the vice presidential candidates are a bit like watching AAA baseball. Right now, most voters are focused on the people running for the highest office in the land. Nevertheless, vice presidential debates have a colorful history. Although they don't do much to affect the results of the actual campaign, they can have an effect on the future of a candidate's career regardless of whether the ticket wins or loses. Last week I sent Mitt a note encouraging him not to morph into a McCain-like wuss during the debate. I think he got my email because he Buford Pussered Obama. It was embarrassing. The president looked defeated--head down, busted. The greatest joy I had the night of the debate didn’t come from watching the erudite Mormon verbally skin the evasive Marxist for 90 minutes. No, it came after the debate as I watched the talking heads over on MSLSD melt down like the bad witch on the Wizard of Oz

There are some storylines that jeer constantly at one of the most enduring characteristics of a caring community — the belief that we can help people change their lives. In Worcester, one of those storylines has been the city’s fight against prostitution. Recently, we were told the City Council asked City Manager Mike O’Brien to file legislation that would allow the seizure of vehicles involved in prostitution. This, of course, is not a novel idea.

Lt. Col. Andy Wood will appear this week at a House Oversight Committee hearing that will examine security decisions leading up to the Sept. 11 terrorist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi.

U.S. intelligence must stay focused on efforts by Huawei Technologies Co Ltd and ZTE Corp to expand in the United States, and tell the private sector as much as possible about the purported espionage threat, the panel leaders said, based on their 11-month investigation of the two firms.
