I'm confused. Am I missing something?Joe Scarborough is not only a Republican, he's a Republican with an entire cable news morning show named after him; a show I'm repeatedly told influences the mainstream media. And yet, even as the Libya scandal breaks wide open across New Media, even as we discover more and more incontrovertible evidence proving the Obama Administration engaged in an unconscionable cover up that included trotting a UN Ambassador out on all the Sunday shows to tell a fairy tale our government knew wasn't true -- on Scarborough's own show

Arnold Schwarzenegger tells Lesley Stahl he performed two same-sex marriage ceremonies while he was the Republican governor of California. He also says top Republican political adviser Karl Rove once dismissed his idea to run for California's highest office and that he still hasn't decided whether he will vote for Mitt Romney or Barack Obama for president. Schwarzenegger will appear in his first interview since it was revealed he had a secret child with his housekeeper tonight on the 45th season premiere of 60 Minutes at 7:00 p.m. ET/PT. Mitt Romney's presidential campaign has "done a first-rate job of snubbing us," CBS "Late Show" host David Letterman said Friday, demanding of his audience that if the GOP nominee hasn't appeared on his show by election day on Nov. 6, "don't vote for him." Reprising past pleas to the former Massachusetts governor, Letterman announced that "Mitch" Romney, as the bit goes, has his pick of "any night, any time, short notice, whatever he wants." President Obama went on the show last week. Letterman said he's "getting a whiff" that Romney's "scared -- let me rephrase that... yellow," and joked that

California has become the first state in the nation to ban therapy that tries to turn gay teens straight. Gov. Jerry Brown announced Sunday that he has signed Senate Bill 1172, which prohibits children under age 18 from undergoing “sexual orientation change efforts.” The law, which goes into effect Jan. 1, prohibits state-licensed therapists from engaging in these practices with minors. "Governor Brown today reaffirmed what medical and mental health organizations have made clear: Efforts to change minors' sexual orientation are not therapy, they are the relics of prejudice and abuse that have

Washington - Paul Ryan says he doesn’t think one event — such as the first presidential debate Wednesday night — “is going to make or break this campaign.” The GOP vice presidential candidate calls President Barack Obama “a very gifted speaker” who’s been on the national stage for several years. Ryan also is making the point that Republican nominee Mitt Romney has never been in a one-on-one presidential debate. Ryan tells “Fox News Sunday” that the race is close and he expects it will stay that way until Election Day on Nov. 6. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says on CBS’ “Face the

With Elizabeth Warren and Senator Scott Brown preparing for their second debate Monday night, Warren appears to be inching ahead in the highly competitive race for Senate, as Massachusetts Democrats energized by the presidential race begin to fall in line behind her, according to a new Globe poll.Warren, a Democrat, leads Brown, a Republican, 43 percent to 38 percent, a shift from the Globe’s last poll in May, when Brown held a 2-point lead. But the race remains within either candidate’s grasp, with 18 percent of voters still undecided, said Andrew E. Smith, the Globe’s pollster and the

Washington - With a handful of genuinely undecided voters holding sway in a tight race, Wednesday’s Denver debate will likely determine the next President. One way or another, debates are almost always decisive. Just ask Texas Gov. Rick (Oops) Perry — who couldn’t remember a cabinet agency he’d shut down in this year’s GOP primaries — or veterans of Gerald R. Ford’s 1976 campaign. Madrid - Spain plans to borrow 207.2 billion euros ($266.5 billion) next year, the Budget Ministry said today, as pressure builds for Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy to tap the European rescue fund instead of financial markets. Spain’s debt will widen to 90.5 percent of gross domestic product in 2013 as the state absorbs the cost of bailing out its banks, the power system and euro-region partners Greece, Ireland and Portugal. This year’s budget deficit will be 7.4 percent of economic output, (Snip) Spain’s borrowing plans may test investors’ willingness to continue financing the government with the

The challenger to Hugo Chávez in the Venezuelan presidential election has vowed a dramatic change in foreign policy if he is elected next week, shifting his country away from China and Russia and reviewing crucial oil deals. Henrique Capriles, who has gained ground in recent polls, said he would halt arms purchases from Russia, rethink relations with Iran and revise deals to exploit one of the world's biggest recoverable oil resources in the Orinoco belt. In an interview during a campaign stop, Capriles said he would end the Chávez policy of promoting worldwide revolution and focus on

On Sunday’s broadcast of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie took a jab at moderator David Gregory and the media for being tougher on Mitt Romney than President Barack Obama ahead of this week’s presidential debate. “David, I wish you guys were just as tough on the president,” Christie said. “The president says he’s going to create a million new manufacturing jobs. He doesn’t say how. He says he’s going to reduce the long-term debt and deficit by $4 trillion. Doesn’t say how he’s going to do it. I mean, let’s be fair here. Gov. It's a further lowering of expectations ahead of the first debate in Denver next week. Democratic National Committee spokesman Brad Woodhouse tells Fox News he thinks Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney will win. Woodhouse says the way the DNC sees it, challengers win the first debate when they are up against incumbents. "Mitt Romney has had a lot more time to debate, the president has not debated in the past four years in terms, of a campaign debate. I think the president will hold his own, but he's not known for sound bites. And these are 60 second, 90 second responses."

Columbus, Ohio - Less than two weeks before Paul Ryan and Joe Biden face off on the debate stage, Paul Ryan took on his counterpart on the issues of Social Security and Medicare. The GOP vice presidential nominee almost always saves his rhetorical fire for the top of the Democratic ticket but Saturday he aimed to rebut a claim the vice president made on the campaign trail in Florida Friday. “Just down in Florida yesterday Vice President Biden was making up all new falsehoods about Social Security and taxes,” Ryan said at the U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance’s annual banquet, an event

Paris - Thousands of demonstrators are marching peacefully in Paris to denounce austerity measures in Europe that have sparked violent protests in other EU countries struggling to avert fiscal crises. The march organized largely by the "Left Front" party and the Communists comes ahead of the French parliament's debate this week on a European fiscal treaty. The treaty would set up the European Stability Mechanism bailout fund that European leaders hope will help calm a debt crisis that threatens the euro zone and the global economy. Washington - The jobless rate probably rose in September as employers kept a lid on hiring, showing why Federal Reserve policy makers have zeroed in on shoring up the U.S. labor market, economists said before a report this week. The rate rose to 8.2 percent from 8.1 percent in August, according to the median forecast of 62 economists surveyed by Bloomberg before Oct. 5 figures from the Labor Department. Payrolls increased by 115,000 in September, less than the 139,000 average over the first eight months of the year, the report may also show. Persistent joblessness may curb wage gains and limit

Kabul, Afghanistan - Only two days after joint operations between American and Afghan forces were said to be returning to normal, five people — two Americans and three Afghans — were killed when a pitched battle broke out between soldiers of the two sides, American and Afghan officials said Sunday. Afghan officials said that the clash on Saturday was a misunderstanding and that the Americans apparently attacked an Afghan National Army unit in error. Late Friday afternoon the spokesman for Director of National Intelligence (DNI) James R. Clapper Jr. released a statement in which the intelligence head tried to fall on the administration’s sword on the Libyan-consulate debacle. But the problem was that Clapper’s statement did not absolve the administration of repeatedly making false statements after intelligence agencies knew this was a planned al-Qaeda terrorist attack. The Post’s Glenn Kessler got things started with a devastating timeline of the Libya events. Then Fox News’s Bret Baier put together an extremely useful video account of
