Too bad to check: Anti-US oil

Earlier this year, I had planned to write a movie review each week, but a back injury and surgery ended up derailing those plans. I’m pretty sure I would have skipped Matt Damon’s new effort, Promised Land, a look at American oil and gas drilling efforts that apparently had all of the reality and even-handedness that Hollywood usually puts into its political fare: The creators of Promised Land have gone to absurd lengths to vilify oil and gas companies, as Scribe’s Michael Sandoval noted Wednesday. Since recent events have demonstrated the relative environmental soundness of hydraulic fracturing –

Within 24 hours, the White House knew the assault on our Libyan consulate was a terrorist attack, yet a president who has no time for intelligence briefings sent his minions out to say it was just a movie. Five days before U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice went on the Sunday talk shows to say Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other Americans were killed at the hands of a spontaneous mob inflamed by a months-old film trailer insulting Islam that few had seen, U.S. intelligence sources knew the attack was planned and organized.

UNITED NATIONS - Muslim leaders were in unison at the United Nations this week arguing that the West was hiding behind its defense of freedom of speech and ignoring cultural sensitivities in the aftermath of anti-Islam slurs that have raised fears of a widening East-West cultural divide. (Snip) "Unfortunately, Islamophobia has also become a new form of racism like anti-Semitism. It can no longer be tolerated under the guise of freedom of expression. Freedom does not mean anarchy," he told the 193-nation U.N. General Assembly on Friday. Egypt's newly elected Islamist president, Mohamed Mursi, voiced similar

Led by a newspaper publisher, Muslim activists will call for putting limits on American free speech at a Dearborn rally this evening. You can't make this stuff up. Nearly a decade after Dearborn's streets celebrated America for bringing down Saddam Hussein and opening a door to democracy in the Mideast, the same city will be the epicenter today of calls to squelch free speech. Protesting the film, "Innocence of Muslims," that has sparked protests in the Mideast, rally organizer Tarek Baydoun says that so-called blasphemy laws are necessary to prevent speech that hurts the "the religious feelings of Muslims."

The notorious underwear bomber who tried to bring down a jumbo jet on Christmas Day had a dirty little secret - he'd been wearing the explosive skivvies for weeks. Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab wore them for three weeks to be exact, and it may have been the reason why he was unsuccessful in his 2009 terrorist plans aboard a Detroit-bound airliner. The new details were revealed by two FBI agents who played a role in securing a confession from Abdulmutallab, shortly after the bungled plot. Scroll down for video

41 Million Tea Party

The Tea Party is regularly ridiculed and declared "dead" by the mainstream press and their elitist allies in Washington and Hollywood. Not surprisingly, when Tea Partiers show up and rally by the thousands, they get all but ignored, while 30 Occupy Wall Street crazies in masks will always get wall-to-wall coverage and admiration. TV shows and movies take cheap shots at Tea Party conservatives, often linking them to murder-of-the-week cases on insipid crime procedurals or dismissing them as “birthers.” But a new Associated Press poll shows tea party supporters may have the last laugh in November.

MEDINAH, Ill. — Tiger Woods’s troubles in Ryder Cup team play continued Friday as he struggled with driving, putting and chipping. But spurred by the Ryder Cup rookies Keegan Bradley and Webb Simpson, the United States team leads Europe, 5-3, after the first day of competition at Medinah Country Club. The teams split the morning foursomes, 2-2. But Bubba Watson, the reigning Masters champion, and Simpson, this year’s United States Open winner, birdied seven of the first eight holes against Paul Lawrie and Peter Hanson to lead off the afternoon best-ball session. Fox’s Sunday host Chris Wallace is tired of hearing conservatives criticize recent polls that show Mitt Romney trailing President Obama; and he let radio host Mike Gallagher know that today with a fiery scolding. Things initially got tense when Gallagher took issue with Wallace characterizing the Romney campaign as “in trouble.” “Wait a minute,” Gallagher interrupted, “what do you mean ‘Romney’s in trouble’? Where’d you get that from? What, because of the poll manipulation crap?” That set Wallace off. “This criticism of the polls is craziness. I actually did some research on this today,

It’s no surprise that Planned Parenthood, its president Cecile Richards, and its loyalists are out in force to re-elect Barack Obama. Mitt Romney has said he would cut off federal tax dollars to the group, while President Obama is one of the abortion giant’s most fervent allies. Recent disclosure reports show that Planned Parenthood’s various PACs and independent expenditure organizations have already spent nearly $6 million in this election cycle to support Obama and pro-abortion champions while attacking Romney. That’s a lot of cash for a so-called non-profit

Pat Caddell addressed Accuracy in Media’s conference on Obama and the media this week. Caddell used the moment to expose the media for covering up a) an Obama adviser taking what looks like a payoff from the Iranians and b) the Obama administration’s Benghazi cover-up. He concludes that media bias has become so extreme that it now endangers the republic. CADDELL: “I think we’re at the most dangerous time in our political history in terms of the balance of power in the role that the media plays in whether or not we maintain a free democracy.

Mitt Romney is not going to win the White House if he doesn’t speak in plain terms about the true nature of this election campaign. That is, if Romney doesn’t stand up and point out the obvious--that he’s not going one on one with Barack Obama, but rather one on two, with Obama being helped by the Main Stream Media--then he has no chance of rallying the support he needs to win the election. In a football game, a team can’t win if the referees are helping the other team. And in the Romney vs. Obama Bowl, the refs

An espionage attack on Telvent - the maker of power-grid control systems and smart meters - has been linked to a prolific Chinese hacking crew. Telvent, a division of Schneider Electric, has admitted hackers breached its corporate network, implanted malicious software and lifted sensitive project files. The raid spanned Telvent systems in the US, Canada and Spain, according to a letter sent to the company's customers this month. Criminals can now study the documents for vulnerabilities in the systems, and potentially devise attacks to sabotage nations' electricity distribution networks.

Don’t be fooled by the supposedly bipartisan effort to investigate the Obama administration’s actions after the attack on the U.S. Consulate in Libya. Democrats are no more serious about challenging their leader in the White House than they have ever been. Trying to pass off his actions as part of a bipartisan effort at investigation, Senate Foreign Relations Committee Chairman John Kerry (D-Mass.) started circulating a letter that his aides said would be asking for more information. Palin, he said in a federal court lawsuit, saw an opportunity to portray herself as a victim of his traffic complaints. She directed her staff to put out the word that Thomawas not only trying to drive her out of the governor’s mansion,

Venezuela's president and candidate for reelection, Hugo Chávez, asserted on Wednesday on a visit to the town of Coro, Falcón state (northwest Venezuela) that the request for a TV debate made by the presidential candidate for the opposition Unified Democratic Panel (MUD) Henrique Capriles a few days ago, "shows that they are losing," because, from his point of view, the trend favoring Chavezism is "irreversible." The Head of State asserted that Capriles was a "political illiterate," and asked, "Who is going to debate with you, boy? First, you have to learn how to talk."

One of the reasons why Barack Obama is regarded as the greatest orator of our age is that he's always banging on about some other age yet to come – e.g., the Future! A future of whose contours he is remarkably certain and boundlessly confident: The future will belong to nations that invest in education because the children are our future, but the future will not belong to nations that do not invest in green energy projects because solar-powered prompters are our future, and, most of all,
