“Over the last four years, the deficit has gone up, but 90 percent of that is as a consequence of two wars that weren’t paid for, as a consequence of tax cuts that weren’t paid for, a prescription drug plan that was not paid for, and then the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression. An Egyptian-born U.S. columnist was arrested Tuesday for spray painting an advertisement equating Muslim radicals with savages at a New York City subway station. Mona Eltahawy, 45, of New York, was arrested on charges including criminal mischief and making graffiti, police said. Eltahawy is a women's rights defender and lecturer on the role of social media in the Arab world. She calls herself a liberal Muslim who's spoken publicly against violent Islamic groups. The incident was captured on video, which shows Eltahawy spraying pink paint on the ad while another woman tries

Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius will soon be back to doing what she does best — campaigning for President Obama. Sebelius will travel to New Hampshire this weekend for a swing of “grassroots events” with Obama, according to the New Hampshire Union Leader. The campaign trip comes after the Office of Special Counsel found that Sebelius had violated federal campaign law by campaigning for Obama during an official event. “OSC concluded that Secretary Sebelius violated the Hatch Act when she made extemporaneous partisan remarks in a speech delivered in her

Kent, Ohio — Air Force One aborted its landing in Toledo on Wednesday because of poor weather conditions, according to the U.S. Air Force. The plane, which was carrying President Obama to Ohio for campaign rallies in Bowling Green and Kent, “missed” its approach into Toledo, according to a statement distributed by Air Force spokesman Luis E. Martinez. It was raining and visibility was poor at the time of the attempted landing, around noon Wednesday. The plane was nearly on the ground when it began ascending again. The flight crew circled around and landed safely after the aborted attempt.

A report this morning by Politico chief political correspondent Roger Simon includes this bombshell about Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan: Though Ryan had already decided to distance himself from the floundering Romney campaign, he now feels totally uninhibited. Reportedly, he has been marching around his campaign bus, saying things like, “If Stench calls, take a message” and “Tell Stench I’m having finger sandwiches with Peggy Noonan and will text him later.” The "stench" reference comes from a quote that Craig Robinson, a former political director of the

Our financial crisis is unique, and the route back to health will be painful, costly and long. Every big financial crisis has its own defining characteristics, but both in origin and consequence, such implosions tend to be remarkably similar. In virtually every case, you first see a long period of excess in financial risk-taking, where credit spirals out of control. This ultimately proves unsustainable, and in the resulting bust the process of credit expansion goes violently into reverse, causing often catastrophic economic damage, from which it will typically take many years to recover. There is no

In the video, the third in a series entitled "Days with the Imam," Zawahiri narrates stories about bin Laden who was killed in a raid by US Navy Seals in May 2011 at his compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. President Obama's support for abortion and taxpayer funded birth control could kill his chances to win swing voters in Ohio, Virginia, Wisconsin and Florida, and possibly his reelection, according to a new poll. Likely voters by a 49 percent to 25 percent margin, or two-to-one, say they are less likely to vote for Obama because he included taxpayer funding of abortion in Obamacare. A whopping 54 percent are less likely to back him due to his vote against a law to give equal treatment to babies born alive after a failed abortion. And 69 percent reject the administration's mandate

A president who says “I haven’t raised taxes” has authorized his Internal Revenue Service issue a “final rule” that will illegally tax some 12 million individuals, plus large employers, in as many as 40 states beginning in 2014. Oklahoma’s attorney general has asked a federal court to block this rule. Members of Congress have introduced legislation in both the House and the Senate to quash it. At first glance, it might not seem that the IRS is up to anything nefarious. The rule in question concerns the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act’s tax credits, not the law’s tax increases.

Libyan president Mohamed Magarief has claimed the deadly 9/11 anniversary attack on the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was undoubtedly a 'pre-planned act of terrorism.' The comments follow repetitive claims by the U.S. government that the attack last month that killed ambassador Chris Stevens was spontaneous, and was sparked by an anti-Islam film produced in California. But President Magarief quashed the idea the assault on the consulate was prompted by the movie, adding that he has 'no doubt' it was a premeditated act of terrorism targeting American citizens. BOWLING GREEN, Ohio–In the opening salvo of today’s Ohio campaign showdown, President Obama accused Republican rival Mitt Romney of “newfound outrage” over Chinese trade practices and disingenuous claims that he would hold the Asian power accountable. “When you hear this newfound outrage, when you see these ads he’s running promising to get tough on China, it feels a lot like that fox saying, you know, we need more secure chicken coops,” Obama told a crowd of 5,500 supporters at Bowling Green State University. “I mean, it’s just not credible.” The president wryly conceded, however, that Romney’s tough talk

With no manufactured outrage to hammer Mitt Romney at the moment, liberal journalists are now eagerly touting a series of polls which appear to show President Obama pulling away from the GOP nominee in several key states. Unfortunately, these polls are relying on sample sizes which are skewed tremendously leftward with far more Democrats than Republicans and as such, they are unlikely to be good predictors of actual Election Day turnout.
