Being a Current TV shill for President Barack Obama isn't an easy gig. Turns out Joy Behar is more than up for the challenge. Behar, who cozied up to Obama during today's taped edition of "The View," her other day job, rushed to her Twitter page to help defend Obama against the indefensible. While the Middle East burns and Iran threatens to wipe out (again) Israel, our closest ally in that region, Obama chose not to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Instead, Obama talked about important

Columbus, Ohio - If there's one thing we learned from Mitt Romney during the course of CNN's interview with the GOP nominee in Ohio Tuesday, it's that he plans to aggressively stay on the attack against President Barack Obama in the final six weeks of the campaign. Consider his comments on the diplomatic attack that left four Americans, including U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens, dead in Libya. Romney has criticized the president for calling recent events in the Middle East "bumps in the road" and suggested Obama had labeled Stevens' death one of those "bumps."

China's first aircraft carrier has entered into service, the defence ministry announced. The 300 meters Liaoning - named after the province where it was refitted - is a refurbished Soviet ship purchased from Ukraine (ex Varyag). For now the carrier has no operational aircraft and will be used for training. But China says the vessel, which has undergone extensive sea trials, will increase its capacity to defend state interests. Getting into the carrier business takes time; a whole range of skills has to be learnt; and carriers have to operate with other ships,

When the mainstream media declares that Mitt Romney is finished, they expect everyone in the Republican Party to not just listen but to act accordingly. That’s the only way to respond to an astonishingly obtuse feature in Politico that centers on the willingness of GOP congressional candidates to embrace Romney. The story begins in this manner: You might think Mitt Romney’s flailing presidential campaign would send his party’s congressional hopefuls fleeing from the GOP standard-bearer. But in a curiosity of a bizarre campaign season, the opposite is happening. Few Republican House candidates have thrown Romney overboard

DON’T take at face value the claims that Americans dislike government. Sure, a recent ABC News/Washington Post poll found that 56 percent of Americans said they wanted smaller government and fewer services. Tea Party activists, the most vocal citizens of our time, powerfully amplify those demands. Yet the reality is that the vast majority of Americans have at some point relied on government programs — and valued them — even though they often fail to recognize that government is the source of the assistance.

Cops busted a lone protester -- angry with subway ads equating enemies of Israel as “savages” -- as she spray-painted over one of the controversial signs today. A Post camera crew captured the bizarre conflict between suspect Mona Eltahawy, 45, and a woman defending the ads. “Mona, do you think you have the right to do this?” said Pamela Hall, holding a mounted camera as she tried to block the barrage of spray paint. “I do actually,” Eltahawy calmly responded. “I think this is freedom of expression, just as this is freedom of expression.”

Well, he had worked a lot of minutes. Legendary "60 Minutes" newsman Mike Wallace left behind an impressive $21 million fortune when he died, court papers show. Wallace, a fixture on the news magazine for 38 years, died in April at the age of 93. He left behind a wife, a son and three stepchildren. Wallace's left most everything to his widow, Mary - but she died earlier this month, before his will was submitted in court. Mary was Wallace's fourth wife, and they've been married for 25 years.

According to a newspaper column released in 1979 by Vernon Jarrett, father-in-law of Obama confidente Valerie Jarrett, President Barack Obama might owe his success to a very controversial benefactor. (Snip) However, the reaction of Mansour himself to the revelation of the column, as recorded by Ben Smith, may spark more suspicion than his original inclusion: (Snip) Mansour, who lives in San Antonio, said the story was “definitely not true.” “It’s not true, it’s not accurate,” Mansour said. He said that he had represented OPEC in a lawsuit in Los Angeles, Please ask permission to post from this site. In this case, permission granted.

A new report showing home prices rising in 20 U.S. cities gave a boost to President Obama’s reelection chances on Tuesday. The data amplified other reports that suggest the long-awaited recovery in the housing market is emerging six weeks before Election Day, and arrived alongside other encouraging news about increased consumer confidence and spending. The signs of a turnaround in housing are coming at a fortuitous time for President Obama, who is running for reelection in a campaign dominated by concerns about his management of the economy.

California Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein, in the midst of a 2012 re-election campaign, said today that she has no intention of debating her GOP opponent, Danville activist Elizabeth Emken, because “I haven’t seen the point.” Feinstein, who has served in the U.S. Senate since 1992, made the comments today during an hour-long Chronicle editorial board session. Just weeks ago, California’s senior senator walked out on ABC 7′s Mark Matthews when he asked her about her decision this time to sidestep a debate. (“Some reporters get under your skin,” she laughed, when we noted that.)

A national voter fraud watchdog group announced Tuesday that it has uncovered at least 31 cases of absentee ballot fraud in New York and Florida -- a finding the group claims is "just the tip of the iceberg." True the Vote, a group that focuses on voter fraud, said it turned over 31 cases to state and federal election authorities in which individuals cast their votes in two states in the same federal election -- which is a felony. Logan Churchwell, a spokesman for the group, told FoxNews.com that the organization accessed Florida's complete voter registration roll

An influential ultra-Orthodox Israeli rabbi ordered his followers this week to burn their iPhones, the latest move by the insular community to keep the outside world at bay. The decree by Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, 84, came ahead of Judaism's holiest day, Yom Kippur. It said that it was forbidden to own the smartphone, and those who already had one must burn theirs. (Snip) Israel's growing ultra-Orthodox minority tenaciously guards its traditional way of life against the influence of the secular majority. Many shun TVs and computers to avoid images that break their standards of modesty and values.

The NFL is the biggest deal in American sports. But it lives in a loud, lucrative sort of tension, always on the cusp of a terrible tomorrow. (Snip) At the end of the Seattle Seahawks’ home game against the Green Bay Packers, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson heaved the ball into the end zone, where Seahawks receiver Golden Tate shoved a Packers defensive back out of the way, and then wrestled for the ball with cornerback N.D. Jennings, who appeared to make an interception. The officials ruled it a touchdown after Tate wrestled the ball away

The universal response in the United States to the uproar over the anti-Muslim video is that the Muslim world will just have to get used to freedom of expression. President Obama said so himself in a speech at the United Nations today, which included both a strong defense of the First Amendment and (“in the alternative,” as lawyers say) and a plea that the United States is helpless anyway when it comes to controlling information.(snip) This is that Americans need to learn that the rest of the world—and not just Muslims—see no sense in the First Amendment.

Marksmen are hunting a pack of gray wolves in northeast Washington state this week after officials decided the entire pack — believed to number at least eight wolves — needed to be killed because of repeated attacks on cattle. The major conservation group working with Washington to manage its gray wolves agreed that the pack should be culled, but also blamed a rancher in the area for not doing more to protect his cattle. (Snip) In the last decade, however, gray wolves have started to re-establish themselves in Washington due to recovery efforts in nearby states and dispersal from Canada.

It might seem like Libya's Islamist militias are reeling in the face of the popular backlash that followed the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi on September 11. But Libya analysts say these groups are well-entrenched and used to operating in hostile environments. They may have melted away for now - but maybe not for long. (Snip) "Violence in Libya is evolving from predictable militaristic violence characteristic of guerrilla warfare to include Salafi-jihadi terrorism," writes analyst Geoff Porter, a long-time watcher of Islamist trends in North Africa.

One of the most agonizing questions that parents of children with autism ask is—why? Now, a growing number of genetic tests are providing some answers. Scientists say that roughly 20% of autism cases can be linked to known genetic abnormalities, and many more may be discovered. Pinpointing a genetic explanation can help predict whether siblings are likely to have the disorder—and even point to new, targeted treatments. Last week, for example, researchers reported that an experimental drug, arbaclofen, reduced social withdrawal and challenging behaviors in children and adults with Fragile X syndrome, the single most common genetic cause of autism.

Mountain View - California took the fast lane to the future on Tuesday when Gov. Jerry Brown signed a law that lets self-driving cars onto public roads. Brown rode to the signing ceremony at Google Inc headquarters in the passenger seat of a vehicle that steered itself, a Prius modified by Google. Google co-founder Sergey Brin and State Sen. Alex Padilla, who sponsored the bill, were along for the ride. An engineer for the technology company, Chris Urmson, sat in the driver's seat, but the car drove itself.

New York - A quiet day on Wall Street turned into the worst sell-off in three months after a Federal Reserve official said he doubted the bank's effort to boost economic growth would work. Charles Plosser, president of the Fed's Philadelphia branch, told an audience Tuesday that the Fed's effort to support the economy would likely fall short of its goals. The speech probably startled some investors who had faith in the Fed's latest plan, said Jack Ablin, chief investment officer Harris Private Bank. The plan includes buying $40 billion in mortgage bonds each month until the economy improves. "So

MEDINAH, Illinois - Tiger Woods may be the greatest golfer of his generation but at the Ryder Cup he has been Joe Average and on Tuesday accepted responsibility for the dismal U.S. showing for the past 15 years. During a period where Woods reigned supreme over the golf world winning 74 PGA Tour titles, including 14 majors, he has been unable to extend his dominance to the biennial competition that pits the U.S. best against Europe's best. The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows President Obama attracting support from 47% of voters nationwide, while Mitt Romney earns the vote from 46%. Three percent (3%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided. See daily tracking history. When “leaners” are included, the candidates are tied at 47% apiece. Leaners are those who are initially uncommitted to the two leading candidates but lean towards one of them when asked a follow-up question. Despite calls from Republican Party leaders to step down, Rep. Todd Akin announced he will remain in the Missouri Senate race against Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. Tuesday marked the final day on which the embattled Republican could remove his name from the ballot. Akin has fought calls for him to exit the race since he said that victims of what he called "legitimate rape" could not become pregnant. He later apologized and said he used a poor choice of words, but not before the National Republican Senatorial Committee withdrew its support for his candidacy and outside spending groups pulled ads

NEW YORK—Mitt Romney is bringing out some well-known names to join him for his bus tour through Ohio Wednesday. According to his campaign, Romney will hold a rally Wednesday morning in Westerville, Ohio, with golf legend Jack Nicklaus, who is from the area. He'll follow that event in a "manufacturing round table" with Mike Rowe, host of the Discovery Channel show "Dirty Jobs." It's unclear if Rowe is backing Romney in the race, but the appearance comes just weeks after the television host sent Romney an open letter encouraging him to talk more about skilled labor jobs
