In his speech to the United Nations General Assembly today the President of the United States declared that the future does not belong to practicing Christians. Already, the media and the left are in full denial, probably based on their general lack of understanding of theology. This would have been a gaffe had Mitt Romney said it. But with Barack Obama, he’s just speaking bold truths. His bold truth declares that the future does not belong to practicing Christians.

Media Malfeasance: Want additional proof the mainstream media act more like PR agents for the Obama campaign than watchdogs who "speak truth to power"? Here are three fresh examples from the weekend. The first comes courtesy of CBS News. In the version of its interview with President Obama that aired on "60 Minutes" on Sunday, the network decided viewers didn't need to see one embarrassing admission Obama made: that his campaign has been trafficking in lies and deceptions. Or, as Obama put it: "Do we see sometimes us going overboard in our campaign, are there mistakes that are made,

If you're wondering what's going on in the American League Central pennant race over the next week, all you need to do is tune into a Chicago White Sox telecast and listen for the voice of the team's play-by-play man, Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. Harrelson is, to put it diplomatically, a bit of a "homer." In other words, he's unapologetic about his devotion to the White Sox, the team he routinely calls "the good guys." According to one measure, Harrelson and his booth partner, Steve Stone, make more nakedly biased statements during a single game than every other TV broadcast

New York - Introduced by Bill Clinton and facing a room filled with Democrats, Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney pulled his punches on Tuesday and outlined an approach to foreign aid that would boost the role of free enterprise in developing nations.(Snip) After Clinton gave a polite introduction of Romney, thanking him for his support for the Americorps foreign aid program begun during the Clinton presidency, Romney quipped: "If there's one thing we've learned this election season, it's that a few words from Bill Clinton can do a man a lot of good. After that introduction, I guess all

WASHINGTON — Two Marine noncommissioned officers will be court-martialed for allegedly urinating on the bodies of Taliban fighters last year in Afghanistan and posing for unofficial photos with casualties, the Marine Corps said Monday. The charges against Staff Sgt. Joseph W. Chamblin and Staff Sgt. Edward W. Deptola are in addition to administrative punishments announced last month for three other Marines for their role in the urination episode. The disclosure in January of a video showing four Marines in full combat gear urinating on the bodies of three dead men led to a criminal investigation

French drugmaker Sanofi SA scaled back planned layoffs under pressure from the French government, which has been struggling to contain a burgeoning unemployment rate. Sanofi, France's No. 2 company by market value after Total, said it could shed around 900 jobs in France in the next three years, fewer than the 2,500 predicted in July by trade unions, as part of the company's planned reshuffle of its research operations. The French government, which had strongly criticized Sanofi's cutback plans amid rising unemployment (snip), said it had made Sanofi Chief Executive Christopher Viehbacher listen to reason.

FBI agents aren’t allowed to treat individuals associated with terrorist groups as potential threats to the nation, according to a startling, newly discovered FBI directive. The fact that a terrorism suspect is associated with a terrorist group means nothing, according to the FBI document, “Guiding Principles: Touchstone Document on Training.” (Snip) Federal Bureau of Investigation agents are to be instructed that “mere association with organizations that demonstrate both legitimate (advocacy) and illicit (violent extremism) objectives should not automatically result in a determination that the associated individual is acting in furtherance of the organization’s illicit objective(s),” the touchstone document states.

Passing the buck in dramatic fashion on the world stage, President Barack Obama told the UN General Assembly this morning that the U.S. government was not responsible for the anti-Islam video that he once again blamed for recent attacks on U.S. embassies in the Middle East. He added that more guards at the U.S. consulate in Benghazi would not have helped save Ambassador Chris Stevens, and that the real problem was "deeper causes" such as religious intolerance. "[I]t will not be enough to put more guards in front of an Embassy; or to put

Abigail Fisher, a white applicant to the University of Texas, contends that the university, in giving preference to minority applicants while rejecting her, discriminated against her unlawfully because of her color. The Supreme Court will hear the case this fall; it is likely that Fisher will prevail. The Texas 10 percent law and the special circumstances of that university present complications, of course, but the makeup of the Supreme Court today differs importantly from that of the Court that decided Grutter v. Bollinger in 2003, which authorized universities to use race in admissions

Every once in a while the Old Media takes a jab at their favorite president and Obama's decision to skip any meetings with the world leaders that are gathering at the UN this week seems to be one of those times. Just to name a few, Chuck Todd of MSNBC, CNN's Wolf Blitzer, ABC’s Jake Tapper, and the CBS Evening News all took swipes at the president for doing campaign stops, TV entertainment shows, and softball interviews instead of doing his job as our nation's chief foreign policy representative by meeting with the world leaders

Here’s what might help Elizabeth Warren in this oh-so-close U.S. Senate race: some apologies, some mea culpas. Yesterday during an interview with Jim Braude and me on News Talk 96.9, Warren was asked — yet again — about the issue that just won’t go away. “Do you feel that guilt that you checked the box?” asked a caller from Wellesley, who admitted that she, too, had checked the Native American box when pursuing a government job in the ’80s, and still feels bad about it. Had Warren said what she should have said when the Herald first broke

Sounds like comic actor John Leguizamo pines for a one political party system. Leguizamo, best known for providing the voice of Sid in four "Ice Age" movies, recently talked to CNN about his political views. “Latin people for Republicans are like roaches for raid,” he adds. “It doesn’t make sense. [Republicans are] not for us. You’re not for my values. We’re working class people mostly and blue collar. Toyota has scrapped plans for widespread manufacturing and sale of a new mini-car that was to be powered as electric only. Reuters reports that Toyota stated they “had misread the market and the ability of still emerging battery technology to meet consumer demands.” We would all be a lot better off, if Only Barack Obama and Harry Reid had the same amount of guts as Toyota to admit to making gross errors in judgment. Takeshi Uchiyamada, the engineer who oversees vehicle development as Vice Chairman of Toyota, was frank in stating, “two years later,

People nervously waiting around in New York City hospitals for loved ones to come out of surgery can't smoke. In a few months from now, they can't have a supersized fast-food soda. And soon, they won't even be able to get a candy bar out of the vending machine or a piece of fried chicken from the cafeteria. In one of his latest health campaigns, Mayor Michael Bloomberg is aiming to banish sugary and fatty foods from both public and private hospitals. In recent years, the city's 15 public hospitals have cut calories in patients' meals and restricted

Today is the last day that Republican Senate candidate Rep. Todd Akin can get off the ballot in Missouri, but there is no indication that he will avail himself of the opportunity. Akin, who turned himself into a national laughing stock with his notorious comments about rape and pregnancy, appears poised to flush his party’s once bright hopes for picking up a Senate seat down the drain. But he isn’t alone. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who was otherwise coming to grips with the obscurity that comes from being a presidential primary also-ran, has become Akin’s loudest supporter these days.

Did the sacked diplomatic mission in Libya fail to meet basic security standards set by the State Department and US law? Well, it’s not like the American consulate in Benghazi had any special security needs from its location in eastern Libya, where terrorist networks have mingled into militias, and where US intelligence had a vital need. Oh, wait …. The U.S. diplomatic post in Benghazi, Libya, was operating under a lower security standard than a typical consulate when it was attacked this month, according to State Department officials.

Audacity is so 2008. Barack Obama, reconciling the contradictory realities of Mitt Romney’s hard fall with a race that remains stubbornly inside the margin of error, is running as the kind of careful, poll-watching politician he disdained the first time he ran for president, according to Democratic and Republican observers. Obama 2012 has become the silver-templed soul of caution, embracing Napoleon’s dictum of “never interrupt your enemy when he is making a mistake,” in the opinion of one veteran Obama campaign aide. In doing so, Obama’s campaign team is seeking to take advantage of Romney’s own well-chronicled reluctance,

President Barack Obama delivered an extensive denunciation of a 'crude and disgusting' anti-Islam video made in California, telling the United Nations that 'it is time to heed the words of Gandhi' and declaring: 'The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.' Obama strongly condemned the protests that spread across the Middle East and the murder of Chris Stevens, the U.S. ambassador to Libya, branding them 'an assault on America'. But he stated that the unrest and murderous attacks were the result of the low-budget video, which had 'sparked outrage throughout

NEW YORK — President Barack Obama suggested Monday that electing Republican nominee Mitt Romney as president wouldn't be a disaster for the country, but would leave the U.S. in a state of malaise. "What would be so terrible if Mitt Romney were elected? Would it be disastrous for the country?" veteran TV journalist Barbara Walters asked Obama during a taping of "The View." "We can survive a lot. But the American people don't want to just survive. We want to thrive. I've just got a different vision of how we grow an economy.

An MSNBC guest this morning suggested that President Obama should meet with the NFL to resolve the issue surrounding the replacement refs, after a weekend of mistakes culminated in a controversial call during a Green Bay Packers game against the Seattle Seahawks. As the news hosts wrapped up a segment discussing Obama’s failure to meet with foreign leaders, they switched subjects to talk about the NFL replacement refs. "Why aren’t we trashing NFL officials?” Chuck Todd asked, as host Joe Scarborough was wrapping up a segment criticizing Obama. “Sorry, I’m like frothing at the mouth,

Last Friday, GOP presidential challenger Mitt Romney disclosed his tax returns and health records. In particular, the release of the tax information was a pleasant surprise – released without pre-announcement or fanfare. Romney gave information that dates back to 1990 which ought to close Harry Reid’s mouth for a time – but, of course, no guarantee that he’ll finally sit and listen for very long. Now that the political “left” has seen what it has been screaming for – and now that the “left” has finally learned what they really knew all along,

Turns out Mitt Romney is a big fan of Hollywood. After pulling in $6 million in a fundraiser Saturday at the Beverly Hilton, the GOP candidate could be back in town soon. “This weekend’s event was very successful and there are plans to try to get the Governor back in Los Angeles again after the first or second debate for a similar occasion,” a source close to the Romney campaign told Deadline. The first Presidential debate is October 3, with a second October 16 and a final face-to-face October 22. On Saturday night, 1,500 donors showed up for

Conservatives had hoped that Mitt Romney’s choice of House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan (Wis.) as his running mate would make Romney act more like Ryan — bold, specific, confident. Instead, in the six weeks since Ryan became the GOP vice presidential nominee — and particularly in the three weeks since the Republican National Convention — there has been mounting concern among Republicans that the pick has made Ryan look more like Romney — vague, cautious and limited to preset talking points.
