Was Obama's Illegal War in
Libya A Trial Run to Attack Israel?

Hey, Obama Lovers, now that our Ambassador is dead, our Benghazi consulate is a smoldering ruin, and its top secret documents have been snatched by Al Qaeda, do you still think your hero's Libyan war is a smashing success? Because I sure do. Not from America's point of view, of course; it's a nightmare for our national security. But from the perspective of Obama's biggest donor, the convicted felon and renowned Israel-hater George Soros, the Libyan War is a triumph. Why? Because Obama waged it illegally

The madness of

Here are three pieces from this morning's press worth reading on wealth/mansion taxes. No doubt there are many more, but these are the ones I've got through. First and foremost, there's my own--obviously--which argues that the Lib Dems will inevitably end up attacking middle class wealth and income if they go this route. A surprisingly large number of people now fall into upper income and even wealth brackets at some stage in their lives. A not dissimilar point is made by Dominic Lawson in The Independent. He points to Centre for Policy Studies research, which shows that

President Barack Obama’s free ride with enough of the disengaged portion of the electorate to matter may finally be coming to an end. A look at the top two presidential election polls listed at Real Clear Politics on Sunday morning showed the race between Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney in a dead heat. The first, the daily tracking poll at Rasmussen – the most accurate presidential pollster in the 2008 presidential contest — had the 2012 race knotted at 46%. (Pew Research, often cited along with Rasmussen as being the most accurate four years ago,

Psst, remember this story? The one where a panicked Ben Bernanke and his cronies at the Federal Reserve -- seeing more devastation in the jobs and housing markets -- say they will continue to disguise the failure of Obama-Reid-Pelosi-Dodd-Frank socialism by flooding Wall Street with even more dollars? Well that's not exactly verbatim, but lost in the news shuffle of embassies being attacked while Marines are un-armed -- and Mitt's video of truth about 47% -- was Bernanke's latest announcement of quantitative easing by the Fed (QE 3).

Health Premiums Up $3,000;
Obama Vowed $2,500 Cut

During his first run for president, Barack Obama made one very specific promise to voters: He would cut health insurance premiums for families by $2,500, and do so in his first term. But it turns out that family premiums have increased by more than $3,000 since Obama's vow, according to the latest annual Kaiser Family Foundation employee health benefits survey. [snip] And ObamaCare will continue to fuel health premium inflation.

During his lackluster speech at the Democratic National Convention, Barack Obama mocked Republicans for prescribing tax cuts as the solution to every problem. Interestingly, Obama and the Democrats have had their own stock response line to every problem -- it's George W. Bush's fault. Blaming the current economic mess on tax cuts, as Obama and his warm up act, Bill Clinton did, is a bit bizarre, but the Democrats don't have a whole lot to work with. Tax cuts had nothing to do with the financial panic of 2008 or the real estate bubble that preceded it.

A House panel has cleared Rep. Maxine Waters of ethics charges after her office used its clout to bail out her husband's bank. This is getting tiresome. Just what's it take to remove a corrupt Democrat? Nothing to see here, move along" is what the House Ethics Committee effectively declared after a stalled, subpoena-blocked investigation that took three years came up empty. But was there really nothing on Waters? The California Democrat was accused of using her position as a member of the House Financial Services Committee in 2009 to steer $12 million in bailout money

As part of “a new era of civil rights” at the Department of Agriculture, Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack announced Monday that Hispanic and women farmers and ranchers who believe USDA discriminated against them can file claims to get a piece of at least $1.33 billion in cash awards and tax relief payments and up to $160 million in farm debt relief, beginning this week. Women and Hispanic ranchers and farmers who feel the agency denied their loan or loan servicing applications because of their race or gender at various periods from 1981 to 2000 can file claims alleging discrimination

When we last checked in with Harry Reid, he was complaining that Mitt Romney still hasn't released more than two years of tax returns, despite the fact that other tax information released last week disproves Reid's claim that the candidate didn't pay income taxes for an entire decade. Reid has yet to acknowledge that he was wrong, but he's moving on to another outrageous attack. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that in a conference call to reporters, Reid said he agrees with a fellow Mormon who said recently that Romney has "sullied" their faith.

Now that Bill Clinton has been welcomed into the home stretch of a close presidential race in order to help President Obama’s reelection efforts, the public is probably prepared to hear some whoppers. But yesterday, appearing on CNN with Fareed Zakaria, Clinton crossed a line: ZAKARIA: Is Mitt Romney right that the only thing you can do with the Israeli-Palestinian issue is kick the can down the road? CLINTON: No, it is accurate that the United States cannot make peace between the Israelis and the Palestinians. They have to do that.

As the pastor of the much-reviled Westboro Baptist Church, Fred Phelps has become synonymous with hatred. The pastor and his family make it a point to carry signs at the funerals saying, “Thank God for Dead Soldiers.” They show up to media-friendly events with signs that read, “God Hates F**s.” Nate Phelps is the sixth of Fred’s 13 children, and he has the scars to show for it. He describes his father as verbally and physically abusive. When he was 18, Nate ran away from home and from the fundamentalist Calvinist religion in which he was raised.

Democrat Elizabeth Warren, who has made fighting for workers a focus of her Senate campaign, was a hired legal gun for a steel conglomerate trying to dodge paying health and pension benefits to thousands of retired coal miners, records show. Warren represented LTV Steel in 1995, when she was a Harvard Law professor, aiding the bankrupt company’s bid to overturn a court ruling forcing it to pay its former employees and dependents $140 million in retirement benefits. Warren was one of two LTV lawyers who wrote a petition to the U.S. Supreme Court

Sometimes there comes along an idea so wrongheaded that even Michael Bloomberg and the American Civil Liberties Union can't support it. So it was this summer, when the Democratic mayors of Boston and Chicago declared Chick-fil-A unwelcome in their cities because the mayors disagree with CEO Dan Cathy's support for "biblical marriage." New York Mayor Bloomberg called the threats "inappropriate." A spokesman for the Illinois ACLU suggested that they were unconstitutional to boot. Now the controversy is back, after a Chicago alderman announced that Chick-fil-A had agreed to stop supporting "antigay organizations." After two days of confusion,

Like old King Ethelred the Unready, who either had no counsel or had no sense, or both, and often paid the Danegeld rather than attempt to deter the Norsemen, so Barack Obama and his lieutenants still believe that they can both appease radical Islam and convince others that is not what they are doing. Various top-ranking U.S. officials, for instance, following the lead of President Obama himself, for days insisted that the murder of the American ambassador to Libya was a spontaneous act of a crowd that got out of control, enraged by the release of an anti-Islamic video trailer

A wind energy tax credit championed by President Barack Obama will benefit financially a group of large American corporations that have donated overwhelmingly to Democratic candidates and committees. Last week a group of 19 non-energy sector businesses—including Yahoo!, Starbucks, Symantec, and Sprint—sent a letter to congressional leaders urging them to extend the Production Tax Credit (PTC), a $1 billion tax subsidy for wind energy set to expire at the end of the year. “We are concerned that allowing the PTC to expire will immediately raise prices for the renewable electricity we buy today,” the letter states.

Don't look now, but Islam is becoming the MSM's official religion of America. Now, it's not just that no one bats an eye at the amazing truth that the United States is beaming TV ads all over Pakistan apologizing for a derogatory Internet trailer for a nonexistent movie demeaning the being that Muslims call "The Prophet Mohammed." No one in the MSM even slightly hints that doing the kowtow in the same country that sheltered Osama bin Laden to a group that reveled in, delighted in the terrorism against American civilians and still provides the framework for the terrorist Haqqani network,

Thursday is Oops Report time. That’s when the Labor Department will tell us if it has been correctly tabulating the number of jobs in this country. Or, more precisely, it will tell us how much it has erred in the reporting of the job market. My guess is that the department has over-counted jobs by several hundred thousand. And if that’s the case, we’ll understand better why jobs, jobs and jobs are the three most important issues in the race for who gets the White House job. Why do I think Labor over-counted?

In remarks this morning to the Clinton Global Initiative, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton proposed a radical idea: a global tax on elites around the world."One of the issues that I have been preaching about around the world is collecting taxes in an equitable manner, especially from the elites in every country," Clinton said to laughter from the audience. "You know I’m out of American politics, but – (applause) – it is a fact that around the world, the elites of every country are making money." Clinton continued her rift on the rich. UNITED NATIONS HEADQUARTERS, New York - President Obama arrived in New York Monday afternoon for the United Nations General Assembly. One of the main topics of discussion at this annual meeting will be the recent unrest outside U.S. embassies in the Muslim world, including an attack in Benghazi, Libya, which claimed the lives of four Americans. But unlike years past, the president will not be sitting down with any of the more than 120 world leaders who are here in New York. Simply put, the White House is prioritizing the president's reelection effort.

In the midst of a blizzard of confusing and contradictory polls (“Romney sinks far behind Obama;” “The president quickly loses his convention bounce”; “The race remains essentially tied, as it has for six months”) one unheralded recent survey suggests a decisive issues edge that could determine the final electoral outcome. A Sept. 17 Gallup poll shows a commanding majority of Americans reject Barack Obama’s pitch that the people need a more activist government to solve the nation’s problems. By a margin of more than 2 to 1,

In Wisconsin, high school athletes are complaining about not getting enough to eat each day, due to the skimpy new school lunch menu mandated by the United States Department of Agriculture and First Lady Michelle Obama. The story we published earlier this week on that subject is unfortunately not unique. Students across the country are complaining about the new school lunch regulations. Perhaps the real motive is to starve students into slimming down. Just ask students in Pierre, South Dakota who, too, are in an all-out revolt.

You have probably heard about it, but if you haven’t yet read the email exchange between Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Philippe Reines, Hillary Clinton’s personal spokesman, and Michael Hastings of BuzzFeed, you should read it in its entirety. It begins with Hastings asking legitimate questions about the State Department’s Libya fiasco. The immediate subject was CNN’s discovery of Ambassador Chris Stevens’s diary at the unguarded consulate in Benghazi: Hey Philippe: A few quick questions for you. Why didn’t the State Department search the consulate and find AMB Steven’s diary first?

Mitt Romney took in $6 million Saturday night at a Beverly Hills fundraiser, he said, as his backers tried to quell concern about the rocky road the Republican nominee has faced in his presidential bid in recent days. Tom Tellefsen, a major bundler and chairman of the candidate’s California Finance Committee, tried to reassure donors as he introduced Romney to about 1,500 people who paid up to $50,000 to see the candidate speak at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Call me Pollyannaish, but I believe Mitt Romney will defeat Barack Obama in November. Let me give you some of my reasons: 1) Romney's campaign message is essentially positive; Obama's is overwhelmingly negative. People always prefer promises of something better, but Americans are especially hungry now because times are very tough. (Snip) 4) Indeed, Obama's record has been horrendous in every category -- economic, debt, national security, military strength, energy dependence, social cohesiveness, religious liberty, race relations, health care and business. America is significantly worse off than it was when Obama took office. It will be extremely difficult for Obama
