Attempted murder of GOP candidate

The extreme hatred for President Trump and Republicans being unceasingly spewed from the Left is having its inevitable result, with an attempted murder of a candidate for Congress that was averted only by the faulty equipment employed by the assassin. The national media have not yet even noted the murder attempt, according to a Google search of the intended victim’s name at 8:37 AM EDT, three days after the incident. In fact, it has taken 2 days for even the local major media to report, as CBS San Francisco did: A man was arrested on suspicion of felony assault and

In a video that has amassed nearly 3 million views in less than 24 hours, Fire Chief Jerry Streich of Andover, Minnesota shows the "unbelievable" moment when a bald eagle landed on his fire station´s tribute to memorialize 9/11. The eagle perched atop one of the two aerial trucks Andover fire fighters were using to hang a massive American flag — and right around the time of the national moment of silence. Chief Streich caught the "phenomenal" moment on camera and shared it on Facebook. "Look what landed on top of the aerial on 9/11," Streich says in the video.

Hundreds of thousands of water bottles meant for victims of Hurricane Maria are still sitting at a Puerto Rico airport — nearly a year after the deadly storm, according to a report. A photo showing the bottles in boxes and covered in a blue tarp on a runway in Ceiba was shared widely on social media Tuesday evening. “Although you don’t believe it… almost a million boxes of water that were never delivered to the villages,” posted Abdiel Santana, a photographer working for a Puerto Rican state police agency who took the pictures. “Is there anyone who can explain this?”

BERLIN - A report on sexual abuse inside the Catholic Church in Germany details 3,677 abuses cases by clergy between 1946 and 2014, two leading German media outlets said Wednesday. Spiegel Online and Die Zeit said the report they obtained - commissioned by the German Bishops Conference and researched by three universities - concludes that more than half of the victims were 13 or younger and most were boys. Every sixth case involved rape and at least 1,670 clergy were involved, both weeklies reported. Some 969 abuse victims were altar boys, Die Zeit wrote.

I came to the conclusion decades ago that the cartoonist’s artistic device of caricature was virtually off-limits when it comes African-Americans and other victim groups as designated by the Left. Caricature seizes on some recognizable physical characteristics of appearance and exaggerates them, and nothing may ever be exaggerated and mocked when it comes to official victim groups, even when the specific individual is wealthy and successful beyond the dreams of ordinary mortals. And I was right. In fact, it seems that American cartoonists understand this point better than I do

How Anti-Trump Leakers Moved

A trail of evidence appearing in major news outlets suggests a campaign to undermine President Trump from within the government through illegal leaks of classified information, and then to thwart congressional investigators probing the disclosures. On Monday the Justice Department released a handful of texts and other documents that included two former officials known for their anti-Trump bias – Peter Strzok of the FBI and Lisa Page of the Department of Justice – discussing the DOJ’s “media leak strategy.” Strzok now says, through his lawyer, that that strategy was aimed at preventing leaks.

A Florida sheriff announced nine jail drug-smuggling arrests Tuesday, after paper mailed to inmates tested positive for a synthetic marijuana called K-2 and synthetic amphetamines. But the latest drug sweeping the county’s jail — one available for purchase in any grocery store — was even more surprising than the inmates’ elaborate drug-smuggling operations. “Most popular, and they really like this better than the K-2, is Raid and Roach Motel,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said at a press conference, holding up a can of Raid and a box of Roach Motel. “Did you hear me? They’re spraying the stuff on paper and

Just days after printing news that is sure to get a lot of Venezuelans tortured and killed by their regime, the New York Times is now trying to justify its irresponsible coverage by piously lecturing President Trump on avoiding coups d´etats, something he never got involved in. Anyone here smell a guilty conscience? Starting out with a scolding headline, the Times editorial begins with: Stay Out of Venezuela, Mr. Trump, and continues with this: America shouldn’t be in the coup business. Period. It’s a relief,

Democrats to delay Kavanaugh

Democrats are poised to block a Thursday committee vote to advance the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, placed Kavanaugh’s nomination on Thursday’s schedule. But Democrats will likely use a committee rule that allows them to keep the nomination on hold for at least another week. That means a Judiciary Committee vote on Kavanaugh isn’t likely to happen until Sept. 20 at the earliest. “I expect that the minority will request that the nomination be held, so a vote is unlikely on Thursday,” George Hartmann, a spokesman for the Senate Judiciary

Republican Sen. If I vote for him, the money is given to my opponent for the 2020 race.” Collins was referring to the joint effort by Maine People’s Alliance and

Even as California forged its own path for years to battle global warming, pressing forward whether Washington agreed or not, skeptics have persistently scolded that it is just a state — it can’t set policy for the nation, much less the world. If California ever had a moment to prove them wrong, it is now. At the international climate summit Gov. Jerry Brown will kick off Wednesday in San Francisco, the state is playing a role none ever has, pushing the rest of the country to join other nations in enforcing a landmark agreement on climate change

Many years ago, Johnny Rivers had a big hit about living on "The Poor Side of Town". Today, a lot of Americans seem to be living on the other side of town, the part of the city where people are too busy to dwell on every little this and that coming out of Washington. It´s like we live on two different planets: One side is obsessed with everything Trump and the other part is busy living. Today, we got some anything rather impressive news: U.S. small business optimism surged to a record in August as the tax cuts and deregulation

Growth: Barack Obama is on the road attempting to claim credit for the booming economy under President Trump. But the only thing Obama deserves credit for is making it easy for Trump to undo Obama´s anti-growth policies. Let´s see if we have this right. For eight years, President Obama presided over the worst economic recovery in modern times. For six years, he blamed Republicans in Congress for thwarting his spending agenda and hampering growth.

President Trump has warned that Hurricane Florence will be ´tremendously big and tremendously wet´ as the devastating storm barrels towards the United States. In a White House briefing on the storm, Trump said Florence will be the largest to hit the Carolinas and Virginia ´maybe ever´ as forecasters predicted people will die when it makes landfall later this week. The President was later mocked for his choice of words and came in for criticism after he suggested that the government´s response to last year´s disaster in Puerto Rico was an ´unsung success.´ Trump made the remark after being asked what lessons he

Former mayor Ed Koch took to his grave the belief that Andrew Cuomo was behind the scurrilous posters that appeared in Queens during the 1977 mayoral race between Koch and Mario Cuomo. “Vote for Cuomo, not the homo,” the posters said in a gay-baiting bid just days before voters went to the polls. That wasn’t all. In “I, Koch,” a 1985 unauthorized biography of Koch, my co-authors and I reported that Mario Cuomo’s campaign “hired a private detective to try to find out who Koch’s ‘boyfriend’ was and attempted to

President Trump cancelled his November trip to Ireland, dodging mass protests that had been planned to greet him on the Emerald Isle, officials in Dublin said Tuesday. The government of Prime Minister Leo Varadka confirmed in a statement that “the proposed visit of the U.S. president on Nov. 12 was postponed” and that Washington “cited scheduling reasons.” The commander-in-chief would have traveled to Ireland during the same trip that puts him in Paris on Nov. 11 to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. The Paris trip is still on, according to White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders.

A new study from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows an alarmingly high rate of suicide attempts among transgender teens, particularly trans boys. Nearly 14 percent of all adolescents in the study, “Transgender Adolescent Suicide Behavior,” based on data from “Profiles of Student Life: Attitudes and Behaviors” survey from the Search Institute, reported they had attempted suicide. But 51 percent of transgender males reported at least one attempt, the highest percentage of any gender identity group. The second highest was among nonbinary teens, nearly 42 percent. Among transgender females, about 30 percent reported a suicide attempt.

West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin is nervous. He’s a Democrat defending his seat in a state that President Trump carried by 41 points and his single-digit lead over GOP challenger Patrick Morrisey is shrinking. Even worse, the latest polls show his support below 50 percent while the “undecided” percentage grows. Consequently, like all Democrats with drooping leads, Manchin has reverted to the demagoguery that defines his party. He has just released a campaign ad that shows him shooting a piece of paper after looking menacingly into the camera and lying about his opponent’s position on pre-existing conditions.

The Oval Office is in chaos. Donald Trump is mercurial, scatter-brained, given to changing his opinion every few minutes. Talks all the time. Doesn’t listen. Is opinionated. Often wrong. He is interested only in today, not tomorrow. He lacks caution. It all adds up to a president who clearly is mentally deficient – insane even. (snip) Perhaps President Trump is the kind of genius who thrives on turmoil. If so, that explains the chaos. In my profession of physics, there have been several brilliant notables with exactly that characteristic.

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Coastal residents fleeing a potentially devastating blow from Hurricane Florence encountered empty gasoline pumps and depleted store shelves as the monster storm neared the Carolina coast with 140 mph (225 kph) winds and drenching rain that could last for days. While some said they planned to stay put despite hurricane watches and warnings that include the homes of more than 5.4 million people on the East Coast, many weren´t taking any chances. “ It did not start with Donald Trump,” former President Barack Obama said last week in his melodramatic speech on the current divisions in American politics. “He is a symptom, not the cause.” If Obama had stopped there, he might have been right. He was trying to describe American politics as suffering a crisis of “division and resentment and paranoia.” Indeed, it is, and indeed it didn’t start with Trump. It didn’t start with Obama either. But Obama played a key role in making it much worse than it had been before him. Obama governed as an uncompromising ideologue

That terrorist organizations should not have an official presence in the United States is a point with which most Americans would agree. Yet the office of the Palestine Liberation Organization has operated for years from an impressive office on Wisconsin Avenue in Washington D.C., with the blessing of the U.S. government. On Monday, the Trump administration ordered it closed. State Department spokesman Heather Nauert explained the mission’s shuttering by noting “the PLO has not taken steps to advance the start of direct and meaningful negotiations with Israel.”
