Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein proposed secretly recording conversations in the Oval Office with President Trump last year and discussed the possibility of Cabinet officials invoking the 25th Amendment to remove the president, according to The New York Times. The newspaper, citing people familiar with the matter, reported on Friday that Rosenstein made comments to other Justice Department officials in meetings in spring 2017 about secretly recording Trump after the president fired FBI Director James Comey.

The deputy attorney general, Rod J. Rosenstein, suggested last year that he secretly record President Trump in the White House to expose the chaos consuming the administration, and he discussed recruiting cabinet members to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove Mr. Trump from office for being unfit. Mr. Rosenstein made these suggestions in the spring of 2017 when Mr. Trump’s firing of James B. Comey as F.B.I. director plunged the White House into turmoil. Over the ensuing days, the president divulged classified intelligence to Russians in the Oval Office, and revelations emerged that Mr. Trump had asked Mr. Comey

WASHINGTON - U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday sought to cast doubt on the woman who has accused his Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault, saying if the attack was “as bad as she says” it would have been immediately reported to police. After days of restrained comments on the allegations by California professor Christine Blasey Ford, Trump took to Twitter to question her account of what happened between her and Kavanaugh at a party in 1982 when they were in high school. The tweets came as a Republican-controlled U.S. Senate committee struggled with Kavanaugh’s

Rarely have we witnessed so many people pretend a controversy was about one thing when it was so obviously about another. Since September 16, when the name of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kava-naugh’s accuser became known—Christine Blasey Ford, a California psychologist, alleges that he sexually assaulted her in 1982—Democratic politicians and most of the mainstream news media suddenly seemed to care deeply whether Kava-naugh behaved reprehensibly when he was 17. If that’s what they are concerned about, we gladly join them. We hope Ford will accept Senate Judiciary Committee chairman

Two and a half centuries of legal precedent in the United States is based on the assumption of "innocent until proven guilty." The law provides for due process, protection against unreasonable search and seizure, trial by a jury of one´s peers, and other measures preventing conviction based solely on an accusation. "J´accuse" was the title of an editorial published in France in 1898 exposing a military cover-up of a French army captain falsely accused of espionage, later exonerated, but with the army suppressing the new evidence, concealing the army´s erroneous conviction. Eerie parallels can be drawn from this story to current

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) on Friday said that Brett Kavanaugh will be on the Supreme Court "in the very near future" even as President Trump´s nominee faces a sexual assault allegation. "You´ve watched the fight, you´ve watched the tactics, but here´s what I want to tell you: In the very near future Judge Kavanaugh will be on the United States Supreme Court," McConnell said while speaking at the Values Voter Summit in Washington, D.C. He added that Trump has "nominated a stunningly successful individual" and told conservatives not to get "rattled" because Senate Republicans are going to "plow right

The tickets for Michelle Obama´s upcoming book tour are selling fast, and at a price that is unheard of in the publishing world. Obama will be making 12 stops to promote her memoir Becoming, and given the hype around the book will be appearing in arenas such as the Barclay´s Center in Brooklyn and TD Garden in Boston. Tickets for these events are going for as low as $29.95, but for a VIP package fans will have to shell out $3,000 to meet and greet Michelle Obama while also getting a front row seat, their very own photo with the former first

First, the Democrats claimed that Republicans didn’t want to hear from the accuser of Judge Brett Kavanaugh. Then when Republicans said they’d love to hear from her, and would she please show up and testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee, Democrats suggested that such a request was sexist and cruel — that no hearing could be held without an FBI investigation. Now, in an attempt to look forthcoming without actually coming forth with any credible information, the accuser’s lawyers are playing games with the Senate Judiciary Committee.

The job of the Senate Judiciary Committee is to vet a Supreme Court nominee and vote on whether the entire Senate can vote on the nomination. It is not a court of law. Consequently, it should not hear testimony from Christine Blasey Ford or Brett Kavanaugh regarding Ford’s allegation of sexual assault. Neither should it recommend that the FBI conduct an investigation. (Snip)I’ll describe a constitutional and practical reason the committee is not the appropriate forum for the Ford matter, and discuss two dangers that could occur if the committee deals with Ford’s allegations.

Among the many roles Harlem played in the rich history of America was saving the life of civil rights icon Martin Luther King Jr. in 1958, when the minister was stabbed in an uptown department store. Before he won a Nobel Peace Prize or helped secure voting and civil rights for African-Americans, or outlined his dream for a multicultural society, or condemned the war in Vietnam or marched for striking sanitation workers, King, just 29, was nearly killed by a “demented” black woman — Izola Curry, who plunged a letter opener in his chest while he was signing copies

The Senate Judiciary Committee is unlikely to grant Christine Blasey Ford’s request to require Judge Brett Kavanaugh to testify first, a senior Senate staffer told The Washington Times. The aide told The Washington Times that among the conditions Ms. Blasey Ford requested was a request that other witnesses be subpoenaed to testify for the hearing. CNN reported that Ms. Ford requested that Judge Kavanaugh, who she accused of sexually assaulting her in high school, face questions about the alleged incident first. “The committee doesn’t issue subpoenas in the process of considering nominations — that is a nonstarter. Are Senate Democrats really interested in learning the truth about the high-school sex-assault accusation against Brett Kavanaugh? Or are they just scheming to exploit it in the fall campaign? Faced with a backlash against accuser Christine Blasey Ford’s refusal to testify next Monday, her lawyer suddenly shifted strategy — saying Ford’s prepared to testify “next week,” but only under “fair” terms. Yet the lawyer also insisted that testimony “is not possible” on Monday. So with committee rules requiring at least a week’s notice, that could push off her appearance into October, with a vote on Kavanaugh’s nomination not possible until shortly

In the era of the #MeToo movement, we are expected to automatically believe claims made by women about sexual abuse. Anyone who dares to ask simple questions about the situation, like who, what, when, where, why and how, is automatically characterized as “doubting the story of a survivor.” Sexual assault is one of the most sensitive areas of criminal misconduct in American society. Allegations of sexual assault are very serious for all parties involved and they should be treated as such. Women who are victimized should be taken seriously as they seek justice.

Social Media Bias: President Trump has criticized the major social media and web search sites, in particular Amazon, Facebook, Google and Twitter, for their anti-conservative bias. Is his critique valid? A controversial new report suggests the answer is yes. It was just last weekend that a study by GovPredict, a Silicon Valley political data research firm, found that over the last 14 years Alphabet employees gave 90% of their political donations, or $15.5 million, to Democrats. Republicans took in a mere $1.6 million. Now comes a new study from GovPredict showing nearly the identical results for Amazon.

A video report on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 aired Thursday night has stunned and outraged liberal activists because it shows a group of women Republican voters supporting Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh while criticizing Dr. Christine Blasey Ford who has accused Kavanaugh of an uncorroborated sexual assault at a drunken high school pool party decades ago. The interview with five young to middle aged Florida GOP women was conducted by CNN reporter Randi Kaye. Kaye asked for a show of hands on whether they believe Kavanaugh when he says Ford’s accusations didn’t happen. All five raised their hands. (Photo)

Americans are now seeing more jobs, higher wages, and greater investment. Business optimism has been surging since the last election and the latest National Federation of Independent Business´s (NFIB) survey of small business optimism hit a record high. Tucker Carlson (below) calls it “the most powerful company in the history of the world[i].” Google can control what information becomes available to those searching for it, so it is not an exaggeration to suggest that it can heavily influence voting behavior, and therefore influence decision-makers in democratically-elected governments. In mid-August, a Connecticut duo parked at the Heritage Diner, swam the murky waters of the Hackensack River and climbed aboard the USS Ling to break into the hulking World War II vessel, police said. More than a month after the submarine was flooded by vandals, Hackensack Police signed complaints against Jon Stevens and Laura Palmese, of Connecticut, for burglary and theft in connection with the submarine break-in. The two are urban explorers, people who explore abandoned buildings and other places and sometimes catalog what they find, Police Capt. Peter Busciglio said. After breaking into the submarine, the duo allegedly
