Officers Rafael Ramos, 40, and Wenjian Liu, 32, were shot to death as they sat in their patrol car Saturday in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Brooklyn. Identified gunman Ismaaiyl Brinsley, 28, then killed himself on a nearby subway platform. Many are blaming the murder of two New York City cops on Saturday afternoon on Mayor Bill de Blasio following his recent support for protesters in the city marching in opposition to a grand jury´s decision to not indict the police officer who killed Eric Garner. Hundreds have taken to social media to say that de Blasio has ´blood on his hands´ and should ´be charged with murder´ after the two men were killed ´execution style´ in Brooklyn. What´s more, many feel that de Blasio should not attend the men´s funeral, this after many members of the NYPD signed a petition asking that the Mayor not attend their service should they be killed

A blue wall of silently seething police officers turned their backs on Mayor de Blasio Saturday night — literally. As the mayor and his entourage snaked through a jammed third-floor corridor at Woodhull Hospital, where two officers had been pronounced dead just hours earlier, scores of grieving cops faced the walls — and away from the leader they believe has failed them. Earlier, de Blasio approached a cluster of cops at the Brooklyn Hospital and offered, “We’re all in this together.”“No we’re not,” an officer replied tersely, according to a cop who witnessed the icy scene. The rank-and-file’s anger at the mayor

CNN´s Don Lemon on Thursday insisted that Barack and Michelle Obama are the "closest thing we have to royalty." The anchor was discussing complaints by the First Lady that she had been mistaken for a Target employee during a visit. Lemon lamented, "But speaking to People magazine, according to the Obamas, they´re sometimes treated less than like royals, or the first couple, and more like the help." He began the segment by declaring, "They are America´s first couple, the closest thing that we have to royalty." New York Times columnist Charles Blow quipped, "You´re going to get in so much

Shortly after midnight on the east coast, President Obama issued a statement from his vacation in Hawaii, condemning the murders of the two police officers in New York City. “Two brave men won’t be going home to their loved ones tonight, and for that, there is no justification,” Obama said, reminding Americans that police officers “risk their own safety for ours every single day.” The president was golfing in Hawaii when he was first briefed about the murders, but the White House released a statement reassuring Americans that administration officials were monitoring the situation. After Obama returned from his golf

Since talking about it on Morning Joe earlier today, a few people have asked me to expound on my theory regarding what Jeb Bush would have to do to overcome the many challenges he would face on his way to the Republican nomination. It seems clear that Bush is hell-bent on not pandering to the base, so the obvious challenge he will have to overcome is winning a Republican primary while holding some positions (immigration reform, Common Core, etc.) which are anathema to the grassroots conservatives who will comprise a decent chunk of the primary electorate.
