Up to 30,000 missing emails sent by former Internal Revenue Service official Lois Lerner have been recovered by the IRS inspector general, five months after they were deemed lost forever. The U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) informed congressional staffers from several committees on Friday that the emails were found among hundreds of “disaster recovery tapes” that were used to back up the IRS email system.

Protesters in Ferguson, Mo., have taken to the streets and chosen not to wait for a grand jury’s decision before clashing with police once again. A grand jury is expected to decide whether to indict police officer Darren Wilson, who is accused of shooting 18-year-old Michael Brown, in the coming days. But protesters made their voices heard outside the Ferguson Police Department on Thursday night shouting, “What do we want? Darren Wilson! How do we want him? Dead!” Protesters gathered on South Florissant Road outside the police department and halted traffic. ?Police responded by coming out of the station and forming

Of America’s four national newspapers, only the New York Times’ editorial board is satisfied with President Obama’s plan to act on immigration reform without Congress. Obama on Thursday announced that he would issue an executive order to delay deportation for some 5 million immigrants now living in the United States illegally. “The president always has had authority to calibrate and prioritize the enforcement of immigration (and other) laws, but this wholesale reinterpretation amounts to overreaching,” the Washington Post editorial board said in response. “Mr. Obama was right to argue Thursday that otherwise law-abiding undocumented immigrants deserve a route out of

Why Congress Can Impeach Obama

Now that President Obama has granted legal relief to as many as five million undocumented immigrants, Republicans are thrashing about for an effective response. Only a few hard-liners are talking about impeachment now, but more could join them out of frustration with their other options. Many people in both parties have tried to quell such talk by saying the president is within his powers to issue the order. The problem is, the pro-impeachment Republicans are right: There is a plausible case for taking that step. By constitutional design, impeachment for “treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors” is a political

Washington -- Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren -- not Hillary Clinton -- is the top progressive choice for president in 2016, according to a new poll. In fact, Clinton doesn´t even make second place. Forty two percent of respondents favor Warren, and Vermont Independent Senator Bernie Sanders also edges out Clinton with 24% compared to her 23%, according to results from the 2016 Presidential Pulse Poll commissioned by progressive grassroots organization Democracy for America. These results come amid a groundswell of activism from the Democratic party´s more liberal wing, which has called for a contested 2016 primary and has often questioned

As he’s made abundantly clear by now, famed neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson believes God will talk to him about running for president in 2016. As we draw closer to primary season, it appears as though those vague whispers have turned into physical contact. In a sit-down interview with the Christian Broadcasting Network’s David Brody, Carson suggested God has been gently touching him with his heavenly fingers. Exchange below: BRODY: How is that conversation going with God about this potential presidential run? Has He grabbed you by the collar yet? I read an article about that. CARSON: I feel fingers. But,

NBC´s Chuck Todd on Thursday night found a new way to compliment Barack Obama. Politicking host Larry King asked the Meet the Press anchor if he "liked" the President. Todd quickly responded "yes" and added, "I mean, he´s very easy to talk to...You sit there and have these off-the-record sessions with him." The journalist enthused, "They´re just very nourishing conversations." [MP3 audio here.] Nourishing? Earlier in November, the anchor defended the President´s famous contention that "bitter Americans" "cling" to guns and religion. Todd mused that these attacks are simply Obama "observing the way an anthropologist would observe a society." In
