In a development that has largely been missed by mainstream media, the Pentagon early last month quietly declassified a Department of Defense top-secret document detailing Israel´s nuclear program, a highly covert topic that Israel has never formally announced to avoid a regional nuclear arms race, and which the US until now has respected by remaining silent. But by publishing the declassified document from 1987, the US reportedly breached the silent agreement to keep quiet on Israel´s nuclear powers for the first time ever, detailing the nuclear program in great depth. The timing of the revelation is highly suspect, given that it came

WASHINGTON — Senator Harry Reid, the tough tactician who has led Senate Democrats since 2005, will not seek re-election next year, bringing an end to a three-decade congressional career that culminated with his push of President Obama’s ambitious agenda against fierce Republican resistance. Mr. Reid, 75, who suffered serious eye and facial injuries in a Jan. 1 exercise accident at his Las Vegas home, said he had been contemplating retiring from the Senate for months. He said his decision was not attributable either to the accident or to his demotion to minority leader after Democrats lost the majority in November’s midterm

A pilot on the doomed Germanwings airliner that went down into the Alps Tuesday apparently was locked out the cockpit moments before the plane crashed, killing all 150 on board, the New York Times reported Wednesday afternoon. An investigator told the paper that evidence from a voice recorder indicated that the pilot had left the cockpit and could not re-enter. He tried knocking lightly on the door, and when there was no immediate answer, he began knocking more loudly. Finally, the source told the Times, audio on the recorder revealed: “You can hear he is trying to smash the door

Do you work in the media and have the gall to think that the entire Webster’s dictionary is at your disposal? Think again, you sexist. When it comes to reporting on Hillary Clinton, George Carlin’s “Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television” have turned into “Twelve Words You Can Never Say About a Powerful Politician.” “We will be watching, reading, listening and protesting coded sexism,” the pro-Hillary group HRC Super Volunteers warned The New York Times’ Amy Chozick Wednesday. HRC Super Volunteers have been laying in wait for Clinton to announce her candidacy, with one organizer of the independent group boasting to

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has spoken out publicly for the first time about his five-year captivity by the Taliban, hours after the U.S. Army officially charged him with desertion. CNN broke the news tonight, and Barbara Starr explained that in a lengthy document released by Bergdahl’s civilian lawyer, there is a portion of the text in Bergdahl’s own words, describing what he went through. Here’s the part Starr read aloud: “I was kept in constant isolation for the entire fire years, with little to no understanding of time… told I was going to be executed… told I would have my ears

Visitors to the White House on Tuesday saw a side of the mansion that had previously been hidden from public view. The Old Family Dining Room, once a private space for first family meals, has been refurbished by Michelle Obama in her first major attempt to leave her mark on the interior of the historic house. The dining room, used in recent decades as a staging area for State Dining Room events, has been thoroughly modernized. The works added to the room are bold, including a custom-made rug based on a 1950 weaving by Anni Albers. Most of the artists featured

Those on a diet don´t want McDonald´s.A new report by Morgan Stanley reveals the biggest weaknesses of major restaurant chains. The bank polled customers on the reasons they would frequent the establishments less often. People were mostly likely to avoid Starbucks if they were on a budget. Those on a diet said they´d go to McDonald´s less. Customers who fled Chipotle said they did so because the food didn´t taste as good.
