On Friday afternoon, in a segment about the retirement of Nevada Senator Harry Reid, Rush Limbaugh cast doubt on the official story of the Democratic leader´s gruesome facial injuries. Reid kept saying that he had wounded himself and damaged his right eye when a piece of exercise equipment broke. Not so, said Limbaugh. "I don´t believe for a minute that whatever happened to Harry Reid has anything to do with an exercise machine unless somebody repeatedly threw him into it," said Limbaugh. "Harry Reid looks like and is acting like—and now with this announcement, behaving like—somebody who may have been beaten

Harry Reid said he has no regrets for polarizing the Senate, attacking the Koch brothers, and falsely accusing Mitt Romney of not paying taxes. Republicans have criticized Reid, who recently announced that he would not seek re-election in 2016, for hostile tactics that soured the environment on Capitol Hill. The Senate minority leader dismissed claims that he is the problem with Washington and said he his proud of taking on the Koch brothers when no one else would. Reid appeared to take some joy of being a part of the Democrat machine that took down Romney in 2012. “Let him prove that he has

Last week, to much fanfare, Glenn Beck declared that he was leaving the Republican party and becoming an independent. During a Tuesday night appearance on the O’Reilly Factor, Beck explained his decision thusly: They surrendered on the abortion bill, surrendered on executive orders on illegal immigration, common core. They helped push through $3.5 trillion in deficits this last year. They won´t fight Obamacare. They voted to confirm Katz Unstein (ph). They thwarted the bill on the NSA data collection. They´re still not doing anything on Benghazi. They haven´t done anything on the targeting of conservatives with the IRS. They haven´t

President Obama said Monday he supports the recommendations of a military commission that would reduce the size of traditional military retirement pay by about 20 percent and offer a new defined-contribution benefit for troops who leave before 20 years of service. In a letter to congressional leaders, Mr. Obama said the proposals are “an important step forward in protecting the long-term viability of the all-volunteer force, improving quality-of-life for service members and their families, and ensuring the fiscal sustainability of the military compensation and retirement systems.” Mr. Obama said he has directed his advisers to refine some recommendations, and that the

BOSTON— President Barack Obama summoned today´s quarrelsome political leaders to emulate the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy in the pursuit of compromise on Monday, and said a new institute that bears the longtime Massachusetts senator´s name can be as much an antidote to political cynicism as the man once was. "What if we carried ourselves more like Ted Kennedy? What if we were to follow his example a little bit harder?" the president asked a crowd of family, former aides and political dignitaries of both parties under a tent in raw weather just outside the doors of the Edward M. Hillary Clinton’s lawyers confirmed what many have suspected since her remarks at a U.N. press conference earlier this month: She has wiped her server clean of any e-mails that she didn’t turn over to the State Department. In so doing, Mrs. Clinton has given her critics more reason to suspect that she is up to no good and yet further reason that Mrs. Clinton should keep those lawyers on speed dial. In the ongoing saga of Hillary Clinton’s exclusive use of a private server at her Chappaqua, N.Y., home, the latest bomb was thrown by her lawyer, David Kendall (of

A nonprofit advocacy group that supports former death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal reported that he had been hospitalized Monday afternoon. Prison Radio, which distributes recordings made by Abu-Jamal in prison, said the 60-year-old had been transported from the State Correctional Institution at Mahanoy in Schuylkill County at 1 p.m. to the intensive care unit at Schuylkill Medical Center. A spokeswoman for the state Department of Corrections declined to comment on the report. "We never discuss an inmate´s medical condition," said deputy press secretary Susan Bensinger in an e-mail.
