California is set to be lashed by up to six months worth of rainfall in just three days as the strongest atmospheric river storm of the season sweeps in.
Residents are being being warned they may be evacuated as up to a foot of water deluges the golden state.
About 13.5 million are people due to be under alerts for 'excessive rainfall' on Monday. Coastal areas are expected to be worst hit, but there is the potential for 'life-threatening floods' in all areas including highly populated urban areas such as Los Angeles, according to the National Weather Service.

Yeah Yeah, big deal six months of rain. Instead of two drops of spit we'll get three. I live on the high Desert outside od of L.A.

Floods are a short-term problem. The really important points about this are (1) how much it adds to the snowpack in the Sierras and to reservoirs throughout the state (e.g. drought), and (2) the plant growth it causes by next spring's fire season, which could be the real disaster.

Ah! "Atmospheric river" finally wore out and we rehabilitate the old "pineapple express" term.
Most of the places experiencing flooding should be short term issues, as #3 observes. But not so much the refilling of Tulare Lake...

The sidewalks of San Francisco would benefit from a dose of this storm. Then they can be refilled with Democrat frass.

It's a desert. Six months of rain is probably not much rain by normal standards.

Pssst...if it all falls in a Day? It ain't six months worth, it's A DAY"S worth.
And you can reset the drought clock with THIS as the "New Normal".
What is the prior rainfall in a day record? When was it set? How many other days were close to that amount? When?
Ya know what? I shot a YEARS worth of Deer in a single day...several times.
And I received a LIFETIME's worth of Biden speeches in a matter of mere minutes.
When I lived in Larkspur Ca it flooded several times a year, some covering the bridge to get to my house, one year washing it out., one year the house flooded...after loose limbs, brush, leaves, and trash dammed up the drainage canal, and storm sewers.Washing down from houses properties and hiking trails further up Mt Tam.It didn't stop the city/county/state from mandating water saving measures, (shower with a bucket, use that to flush the toilets...occasionally...If it's yellow let it mellow, If it's brown flush it down) Even the years it flooded they insisted upon outlawing lawn sprinklers, and replanting landscapes with drought resistant foliage.

Lots of rain was only scary if the winds then blew really hard...I was surrounded with Redwoods hundreds of feet tall, if ANY fall they land across multiple lots, maybe take down others as they go. A 15 ft diameter tree falling on you is nooooo joke.

Will California still be under drought emergency afterwards? The NASCAR race out in California scheduled for Sunday was moved up to Saturday. They were predicting 5 days of rain. Or the California state government wants to stick its fingers in everything.

A lot of us are happy about this stuff, we go full years without rain and now our crops and flowers are blooming, our seeds are coming up. We don't get this kind of treat too often.
