Joe Biden's aides were 'too afraid' to quiz him and his National Security Adviser over key decisions made in the run-up to the US withdrawal from Afghanistan, according to sources close to the US administration. The President is accused of insisting on recalling US troops ahead of the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington DC, and allegedly ignored warnings that it would not leave the military enough time to get American nationals and allies out.(Snip)The official claimed that the Biden administration functions 'like an autocracy' and stifles internal dissent, adding: 'It's one thing to crack down on leaks, it's another thing to

The state has turned on Joe. How soon before they start pushing him out the door?
At least this time around, they won't have to make up stories.

The whole biden administration is full of 2-bit politicians, including biden, who is a jerk, big talker, with few, if any, accomplishments in all his years. Even obama said joe ef's up everything he touches. Gates said biden was wrong on every foreign policy issue the past 40 years. They're a bunch of stupid amateurs, and you can see it everyday of the last 7 months. All democrats have a screw loose. They are all weird people.

Afghanistan, the southern border, and Covid are what you get when you surround yourself with yes men. The Biden administration sounds more dictatorial everyday.

What were they afraid of? That mean old man with dementia? If they had stood up to him, he could fire them. So what!!! It would have been better to have been fired than to be a part of this disaster. Now they can go down in flames along with Biden and his handlers. Blood is on their hands.

I think protocol was that whoever asked a question had to change the diaper.
It sounds like a saddam insane cabinet meeting where everyone was terrified of being noticed by sodamn. Once when a fly was in the room they were terrified the fly would land on one of them and draw sodamn’s attention. I bet the diaper draws a lot of flies.
It sounds like venal politician schmoe’s operation runs like a two bit dictatorship. But he’s getty bags of money.

His advisors just want to protect their precious government jobs with all the benefits and perks that come with it. At one time this world had men like Churchill who kept critics on staff, even if he disliked them, because they may know something he did not. Not we have the equivalent of a high school girl's clique running the government.

FTA: "The official claimed that the Biden administration functions 'like an autocracy' and stifles internal dissent, adding: 'It's one thing to crack down on leaks, it's another thing to allow a mistake like this."
Team Biden is not making "mistakes." He is an autocrat choosing courses of action that carry easily foreseeable consequences. His appalling "decision making" has led to entirely predictable and damaging consequences that impact not just Americans but people around the world. He opened the door to chaos, and most telling, he's leaving it wide open. None of these blunders are "mistakes." He CHOSE them.
He chose to protect Karzai air base with one runway, over Bagram air base which has two.
He ordered our military pull out BEFORE they had time to evacuate US and Afghan support personnel.
His military departure timing allowed the Taliban to set up checkpoints, so now THEY control who can and can't board flights out of Afghanistan.
Biden facilitated the Taliban's ability to put their terrorist friends on every flight departing Afghanistan.
Biden ordered our military to walk away from billions of dollars of advanced American equipment, leaving it to the Taliban. Some will be sold, some will be replicated in China, Russia, and other open air prison-states.
The day he took office, Biden didn't invite illegal aliens to flood our southern border by "mistake." He and the Democrats simply envision a needier, less educated population to fill the voter rolls.
He KNEW terrorists would take advantage of HIS open borders to enter the US. He wasn't
at all "mistaken" about the consequences, was he?

This reminds me of the vice president of a major corporation, who was my principal “client” when I was an in-house counsel early in my career. The company was embarked on constructing a hydro-electric power plant. The VP was in charge of the project. He lived in fear of the CEO, who hated bad news, but hated surprises even worse. At every meeting with the project team, the VP would say, “Remember the rules for our discussion. No bad news and no surprises.” He remained blissfully in the dark as to every setback the project encountered, allowing him to report to the CEO, “All good news.” Fortunately, the team dealt with every obstacle, and the plant was built. But I often wondered how many heads would roll if one day there had been an awful surprise.

There will be a stampede of pathetic liberals trying to absolve themselves of any responsibility for this tragic event. Claiming to be ‘afraid’ to bring up their concerns does not excuse them for anything. It just proves they are cowards who have no business being in the jobs they’re in. If all they care about is saving their precious political asses they should run for Congress. They will be in good company.

I wish David Halberstam were still alive so he could write The Best and the Brightest II. The first focused on the hubris, elitism, and incompetence behind the Yale and Harvard dandies who brought us Vietnam. For the second, he'd only have to add wokism for his look at Sullivan, Austin, Milley, and Blinken.

Another thought: the same government apparatus that openly defied President Trump every step of the way, to include top cabinet officials blessed by the GOP, now stands powerless to resist a senile old puppet even when certain disaster looms. They govern by the consent of the citizenry, so I guess we're OK with it.

No, they weren't afraid of puddin'head Joe. All his aides are 0bama operatives, and they were furthering the 0bama agenda. Joe just went along with it, signed what they told him to sign, to make it official.

I don't think they're afraid of Biden, but the cabal who are really in charge and are behind him pulling the strings.
BTW...look up Jake Sullivan's career. He's someone who definitely is NOT on the side of the United States. He was in on the planning every step of the way giving the mullahs the billions of dollars we gave them. He's one of ovomit's close advisors.

I hope the poster's comments above were tongue-in-cheek. Biden had a solid road map from Trump but he wanted to get off the road and travel with his makeshift ATV. Mr. Magoo and his VP Laughing Clown.

Joe Biden is such a powerful and decisive leader that no one in the vast US government dared contradict him. The poor man is trying to manage a global pandemic, a refugee crisis, an illegal alien crisis, an energy crisis, and an economic crisis, give or take a climate emergency, all caused by Donald Trump. Can't he make a mistake now and then?
