DeSantis blasts CDC for K-12 mask recommendation:
'It isn't based in science'

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' office sharply rebuked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for urging that all children, regardless of vaccination status, be required to wear masks when school returns in the fall. CDC Director Rochelle Walensky on Tuesday cited an increase in COVID-19 cases from the delta variant for the changes, which also recommend some vaccinated individuals to resume wearing masks in certain situations to protect against COVID-19. "It isn't based in science. There is no indication that areas with mask mandates have performed any better than areas without mask mandates. In fact, this policy could actually backfire," DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw told Fox News.

Has anyone seen any actual data concerning the Covid 'surge"? We hear there is a million % increase of Delta virus and 'younger' people are catching it more and mask are the only protective preventative measure known to man and vaccines are worthless. But no actual data. I hear in LA (Louisiana) we have a 'surge' of biblical promotion but no actual numbers. And no data now compared to previous surges. We are beyond facts and now feed a steady diet of slyly manipulated statistics.

CDC’s Mask Guidance Will Backfire 1 reply

Begin with one simple fact: The Delta variant of COVID-19 is more contagious than the original virus, but it is not more dangerous or likely to kill you. If you are vaccinated and are exposed to it, you may get infected. This infection is likely to be mild; occasionally vaccinated people get sick. These symptoms are usually mild, manageable, and pass within a day or two. The first case of the Delta variant — previously referred to as “the Indian variant” — in the U.S. was diagnosed at the end of March. Our active COVID-19 cases, hospitalizations, and deaths have declined since that date, although the daily number
Texas Gov. Abbott: No More Masks — ‘Now

Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has reacted to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommendation that, among other things, vaccinated people should still wear masks in high-infection areas by reaffirming no mask mandates will be in place in the state. “The time for government mask mandates is over—now is the time for personal responsibility,” Abbott posted on Twitter on Tuesday. “In May, I signed an executive order prohibiting mask mandates by gov’t entities.” “Every Texan has the right to choose whether they will wear a mask or have their children wear masks,” Abbott tweeted.

Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (D-AZ) threw a wrench into Democrats’ plan to slip amnesty for millions of illegal aliens into a federal spending package that would bypass a filibuster and only need a simple majority in the United States Senate. On Wednesday, Sinema announced that she opposes a $3.5 trillion budget — which includes an amnesty for millions of illegal aliens — and thus the Senate Democrats do not have the 50 votes necessary to pass the spending package. Democrats, for months, had hoped to slip the amnesty past Congress without facing opposition from Senate Republicans

Gov. Greg Abbott is apparently throwing caution to the wind with his latest move to curb illegal immigration in his home state of Texas. Today, Abbott announced that enforcement agencies under his control, specifically the National Guard, will now begin arresting illegal immigrants crossing the border. This came on the heels of news that nearly 90% of the 50,000 illegal immigrants released by the Biden administration without a court date have even bothered to check in as required. Abbott seemingly gets more based by the day. “Beginning on May 31, 2021, I have issued multiple proclamations certifying under Section 418.014 of the Texas Government Code that the surge of individuals unlawfully

The Senate voted 67–32 to advance a roughly $1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure proposal on Wednesday night. The vote comes one month after negotiators initially said they had reached a deal on infrastructure. A bipartisan group of ten senators and the White House then spent weeks finalizing the details of the proposal. The 17 Republican senators who voted to move the bill to formal debate included Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) and Senators Richard Burr (N.C.), Bill Cassidy (La.), Susan Collins (Maine), Shelley Moore Capito (W. Va.), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska), Rob Portman (Ohio), Mitt Romney (Utah), Thom Tillis (N.C.), Chuck Grassley (Iowa), Todd Young (Ind.), Mike Crapo (Idaho), Roy Blunt (Mo.),

Travel during the Covid-19 pandemic has created a bureaucratic mess, especially for those who venture outside the country. It’s now routine overseas for unvaccinated individuals to have to jump through more hoops and restrictions than vaccinated travelers do. A growing number of countries around the world now require some form of digital proof of vaccination. While the details of these Covid passes vary from place to place, they function essentially the same way: digital health records, stored on your phone, prove that you present a low risk to others. From a practical perspective, these “vaccine passports” or “digital Covid certificates” drastically cut down

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky suggested that vaccine passport-style systems might be implemented in the United States amid the COVID-19 pandemic. When asked in a TV interview Wednesday about whether the United States would mandate a European-style “health pass” system for nightclubs or bars, Walensky said, “That may very well be a path forward.” The director further said that “in some fully vaccinated venues,” it “is possible” for a fully vaccinated individual to transmit and pick up COVID-19 “in those settings” and added that federal officials have “seen that” during studies. Her comments came after the CDC announced Tuesday it would recommend people wear masks

Washington — Five Republican senators negotiating the bipartisan infrastructure framework said Wednesday they have reached an agreement on the "major issues" of the bill with Senate Democrats and the White House, potentially capping weeks of talks that at times appeared on the brink of collapse. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio, who has been leading negotiations for Republicans, announced the breakthrough after meeting with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and four other Republican senators. A vote to advance the measure would require 60 votes, meaning 10 Republicans would have to join all Democrats in voting to begin debate.

If you wanted to try to give people vaccine hesitancy, what would you do that Joe Biden already hasn’t done? I’m not sure you’d act much differently than he has. The latest move today — the CDC issuing guidance that the fully vaccinated should go back to wearing masks in most of the country where the Delta variant might be surging — will leave some who already are questioning the vaccine, to doubt and question it even more. Plus, as we reported, the White House’s explanation for why we should do so amounted to basically: Do it because we told you to do so. Not very confidence-building.

When there’s a White House press briefing in which the press corps doesn’t appear friendly with the Biden administration, you know it was a tough day at the office. Tuesday’s briefing was one of those rare days as Fox’s Peter Doocy was joined by over a half dozen colleagues in asking tough questions Press Secretary Jen Psaki refused to answer about the return of masks, even for vaccinated Americans. The Associated Press’s Alexandra Jaffe didn’t wait for Doocy, leading off the Q&A by wondering “how will the White House get Americans to start wearing masks when they’ve gone for more than two months without them,”

House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told Breitbart News in an exclusive statement Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s mask mandate seeks to enforce a “perpetual pandemic state.” McCarthy spoke to Breitbart News as the Biden administration looks to revive the mandate to have Americans — including fully vaccinated Americans — wear masks indoor in places with high coronavirus infection rates. The California Republican said Biden’s reversal could cast doubt on the efficacy of the coronavirus vaccines and force children to wear masks despite the science showing that children are at very low risk of contracting the virus. “Vaccines work and vaccinated Americans should not have to wear masks.

Perhaps it’s because I grew up surrounded by extraordinarily tough people, but I found myself singularly unmoved by the spectacle in the House on Tuesday, which reminded me of a bad mash-up of Dr. Phil, Oprah, and BLM-produced soap opera, rather than a legitimate inquiry into an event that Democrats have seized upon to consolidate their power by destroying their opposition. As sobbing congressmen and Capitol Police officers took turns talking about their psychic injuries, I was alternately embarrassed for them if they were really that weak, and frightened of them if they were that sociopathic as a pathway to power.
