computers, TVs, cars – even the doorbells.
Worse, argues Oxford professor CARISSA
VELIZ, we're doing it to ourselves by giving
away our data

Most of us know that our personal data is being collected, stored and analysed thanks to our relationship with our mobile phones, computers and the internet. But are we really aware of the full extent of the privacy invasions into our daily lives?Let's start at dawn. What is the first thing you do when you wake up? You probably check your phone.By doing that, you are informing a whole host of busybodies – your smartphone manufacturer, app developers and your mobile company, as well as intelligence agencies (if they happen to be watching you) – what time you wake up,
They’re watching me type this.......

Amen!!!
The carelessness of folks blithely disclosing their personal information over the Internet, especially platforms like Facebook, etc., is not only naive, it's downright dangerous, and sometimes deadly. But I have no hope that it will stop.

Excellent article. But it just confirms what I’ve thought.
I even think they get info from the back door. For instance, if I’m watching Movie Bb, starring movie idols John Doe and Mary Smith from 40 years ago, and I begin to google the movie and their names, the algorithm can assume I’m watching station X on my cable tv and extrapolate other juicy info as they want.
They’re everywhere.
Our children and grandchildren are going to live in The Brave New World.

I'm too old to care at this point. Besides, based on what I've said and posted over the years, if they haven't tossed me in the American Gulag by now, they probably won't. Even with this little leftist gerbil AG of ours.

Beware the metadata and the data-crawling bots that run in the background to spot connections and patterns in our habits.
While you may exercise great discipline on your own phone to minimize the number of apps having access to your personal information, every time you give your number to somebody who enters it into their Contacts, every app on THEIR phone that they've given permission to access their Contacts will have indirect access to info about you.

Both mine and my husband\s personal info were in those breaches of OPM that happened on Obama's watch. At that point, I figured what is the point? I don't do goofy stuff like SS# or that kind of stuff but Artificial Intelligence is actually quite stupid. I can't believe how many goofy ads I get. Some make sense- but most do not and not by a long shot.

I give away NO data that isn't absolutely required. I have frequently had to have a 'discussion' with various clerks when they ask "social security number?" and I refuse to give it. I routinely refuse to give phone numbers or email to various people or web sites asking for it. I have never signed up for ANY 'social media' of any kind.
You can't stop all of it, but you can help minimize it.

NSA is recording everything, thanks to W’s so-called Patriot Act.
Until the pending Rapture, we can still not watch TV via the net [yes, a neighbor in CA still had antenna]... or minus TV, as I gave mine to my moving company several years ago.
Don’t use FB or Siri, only Duck Duck Go, Brighteon, and personal/private sites...
And turn phone off or Airplane Mode when not using...

Unless you remove the battery from your phone (no longer possible on many phones) you cannot tell if it is actually off or just playing possum, and the mic can be turned on remotely.
The only way to genuinely isolate it is to wrap in aluminum foil or put into a metal box. Either is a Faraday cage which can block all incoming or outgoing radio signals, totally. Unless you can remove the battery this is the only way to truly 'isolate' your phone.

Most people have nothing to hide but their data and habits open them up to a flood of calls, emails, pop-ups and other annoyances. Much of it will be scam attempts. Don't answer the phone and don't respond to any of it and their efforts are in vain. If you do have something to hide, well, you already know what to do.

George Gilder had the easiest solution...states pass a law requiring any entity that “sells” your information to pay you a dollar (or half the payment they receive, if greater).

I want them to know how I feel about the Left, most politicians, unions, etc etc etc. I wish everyone, that thinks as I do, would let them know. It would scare the heck out of them. As far as SS# , bank #, etc ...... well, the government gave me my number, so ya, they know it and are not afraid to spread it around. Same goes for banks and other financial institutions. Using common sense is the only tool we have to slow em down. You all have a blessed day. Alexa, I am a Christian Conservative and proud of it. Alexa, turn computer off.

Looking for your lost data? Amazon and ''another'' big tech are creating data farms in New Albany, Ohio. Buildings are described as ''a structure as big as the Empire State Building, laying on its side.'' Groups of five or more buildings. When you wondered why Bezos and Gates were buying farm land all over the country, maybe this is where all your data is being stored, and forever. America's wonderfully vast bread basket is quietly disappearing in order to starve the greatest country ever blessed by the Almighty.

You people are too paranoid, answering unknown emails can be good. Example: Right now I'm waiting for a bank deposit of $36 million from a Nigerian prince.

Leaving the sinister aside, we will live in a fish barrel where advertisers will incessantly shoot at us. "AI" will mean "Advertising Insistence". I think the human mind will balk at the assault, like a crowd of street beggars surrounding you as you try to walk down the street. Before you could avoid the pushy salesperson at the shop, but now your primary tool- the cell phone- is a pushy sales person. Kind of like "my mind is my own worst enemy."
Then there's the scammers who would love to empty your bank account using some hack. But, billy miner hacked a few banks too in his time.

As we all have seen how corrupt and political big tech is over these past few years, the mining of our data becomes very sinister. If the data are being used just for commercial purposes, so be it. I don't like it, but companies have been doing this for years, even before technology. But, we know that these big tech companies are in cahoots with China and very evil democrat factions such as antifa. We see the FBI using technology, not against the rioters who killed scores of people and destroyed cities and countless businesses. No, we see the FBI using these facial recognition data and phone pinging against 49 year old grandmothers, forced now to get their minds straight on what is acceptable thinking, as she is prosecuted to the max for a rather inconsequential "crime." Others are hunted down by the FBI and God knows how many have been imprisoned in DC gulags.
The author advises that this can all change with the proper regulations. Well that ain't happening anytime soon. Not in England certainly and not in the USA. Government loves these tools and as Trump and his supporters are targeted as domestic terrorists by Biden and that stooge Merritt Garland, half of this country has a target on its back, and you can be sure democrats will use anything to destroy us. It wouldn't surprise me if my Lucianne posts may be used against me of us at some point.

#19- I live in the "DMV" (DC, Maryland , Virginia) area. There are mega data centers around here already. They are all over the world. Amazon makes money from government contracts. Aside from power, It's one of the many reasons Bezos refurbished a museum/mansion in DC and is building a new HQ in Northern Virginia.
We were shopping in Ashburn, VA recently and came across this. https://vantage-dc.com/data-center-locations/north-america/ashburn-virginia/
You can take a virtual tour of the facility online.

#12; I wrap my highway toll machine in foil too, when not using it to pay a toll. I've noticed the readers are everywhere even though they're not identified as toll plazas. Same structures overhead with no signage.

All this is true. And you should minimize exposure.
But you can also put garbage out there. Mess up your address, DOB, everything when filling out forms.
