Police Shoot Driver Who Struck Cyclists

The driver of a pickup truck hit a group of cyclists at a bicycle race in Show Low, Ariz., on Saturday, seriously injuring seven people before the driver fled and was shot by the police, the authorities said. The driver of the truck, a black Ford Super Duty, struck the bicyclists during Bike the Bluff, a benefit race, at about 7:25 a.m. local time, the police said.

Comments:

I read a local article that stated that the ride was a fundraiser for a Christian school. Also, the riders were all 55 +. I was just in Show Low last weekend. There are a lot more people than I have ever seen there before but there is almost no traffic in the early morning. This is a popular vacation spot to get away from the heat.

From the local report cited by #5: Officers pursued the driver, identified by police as a 35-year-old local man, who hit the cyclists to the area of South 3rd Drive and West Oliver. An officer shot the suspect behind a nearby Ace Hardware store. The suspect is also in critical condition but stable, authorities said. The incident is currently being investigated by the Show Low Police Department, the Navajo County Sheriff's Office and the Arizona Department of Public Safety. I'd bet the rent money that driver was drunk.

Sad, guys riding bikes for Charity and now they are fighting for their lives, some drivers hate bikers and will try to run them off the road, I've had this happen to me twice. both times I saw them my rearview mirror and was able to jump the curb. I got one license plate and called the police, never heard what happened. Bikes have as much right to the row as a car and they must obey traffic laws (I do). I had one idiot try to tell me because I don't pay road taxes cars have the right away. I told the moron I also own 2 cars so I'm paying as much car tax as anybody else.

Those bikes look just hideous and sad to this lifelong bicyclist. I watched a friend intentionally clipped with a pickup truck mirror and dumped into a ditch, and was threatened with violence several times. I hope that the guy spends decades in prison if this was intentional, as it seems. I stopped for fuel at Show Low in my Cessna years ago, but never have been there by car.

#7's post is why I no longer partake in any two-wheeled fun - have done both bicycle and motorcycle. Enjoyed both immensely, for a long time. But to quote the renowned poet, Jim Morrison, People are Strange. I now swim laps in a salt pool and walk my dogs away from humans, and yet strange people are there to wreck my zen.

There, generations of Catholic monks copy and preserve the fragments of texts from earlier civilization that they themselves don’t comprehend. It’s a really bad sign when the military force we rely on to protect our nation focuses less on being an effective warfighting organization and more on being another woke group that focuses on mainstream political messaging. It gets even worse when you compare it to the way our enemies are viewing their own military as the former and not the latter. Case in point, the left in America has infiltrated and introduced its rot to the U.S. military, and you can now see the infection in its recruitment ads.

Over the past few months, as conspiracy theories have circulated regarding the election results and President Joe Biden’s inauguration, social platforms have struggled to keep up with the onslaught of misinformation. Much of these false narratives have been driven by believers of the QAnon conspiracy theory, the baseless idea that President Trump is lying in wait to expose a secret cabal of Democrats engaged in a child sex-trafficking ring. Inauguration Day was supposed to mark the “storm,” or the day of reckoning when Trump would arrest all of his enemies and send them to Guantanamo Bay; when the storm never arrived, many QAnon believers were left angry and confused.

CNN’s Don Lemon wore his thoughts on his sleeve in Sunday’s Washington Post Magazine feature on him (published online last Tuesday). In more than one instance he vented to reporter Eric Easter about just how racist America and white people were, while at the same time unironically lamenting about how we didn’t show enough grace to other people. At one point he even suggested that America may not even see blacks as “fully human” at all.The headline for the interview clearly laid out where they wanted to take things with a quote from Lemon suggesting: “We’re living in two different realities as Black and White people.”

Disney has been accused of pricing out loyal customers by targeting affluent families with $800 hotel rooms and $100 sandwiches at its theme parks, despite having scaled back its 'magic' since the pandemic began. A family vacation to Disneyland - once the pinnacle of summertime for middle-class American families - will today set a family of four back more than $6,000. With the average annual income now standing at $5,725 a month, this means a visit to the so-called 'happiest place on earth' is increasingly out of reach to the average American family.
