Alright! Matthew McConaughey’s potential run for governor of Texas has dazed Ted Cruz.Cruz said Thursday he is hoping McConaughey doesn’t run for governor in their shared home state – but the Republican senator admitted the Academy Award-winning actor would be a “formidable” candidate.“He’s a very charming, very affable guy – he’s a movie star,” Cruz told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt.“And a good looking, charming, affable movie star can be a really formidable candidate on the ballot,” Cruz added.

I hope those superficial days of electing people based on looks, charm, bullcrap promises, and fakery are over. There's too much at stake; we need solid people who believe in God, the Constitution, and the rule of law, not some pretty boy who speaks with a cutesy twang. Movie star, my. . . spit.

Matthew McConaughey is about as qualified for governor of Texas as my dog. Nope, my dog is a Great Pyrenees, he is more qualified because he would give his life to protect us from coyotes.
But like Cruz says, some people just vote for a pretty face. Dumbassess.

Yes, Matt is charming and has the l[ks. Other than that, he is an unknown entity. He spouts good sounding platitudes but you still have no idea where he stands on things.

Matthew seems well meaning but he would be a disaster in office.
BUT Ted is right. Dumb women will vote for Matthew with his folksy charm, boy back home attitude, former Hollywood glitz, and tumbleweedish drawl. There are a lot of dumb women, even in Texas. I say this as a woman and someone who admires Texas.
Never underestimate, never.

...why not let him PLAY the Governor ( of a "large southern State" ) on a weekly TV show drama ??
....he would make MORE $$$...get tons of publicity...and do no REAL harm...
...and the dems would all think he is the REAL Governor ( see: Martin Sheen - West Wing)
.....sounds like a Win/ Win to me.

Years ago I was in a conversation about Iran with a group which included the most far left person I have ever known. We were talking about how evil Rouhani was and she piped up and said, “But he’s so good looking!” Yes, that is a direct quote. I was floored. I’m sure that she would have voted for him if she could.

He will first have to take out Beta O'Dork whom the press LOVES.
The power of the press and the Masters of the Universe did their best, but the people of Texas did not allow him to win. Then he ran for the socialist nomination and failed to Mumbles O'BiteMe.
Come to find out JoeBama was the least radical choice who is controlled by Bernie and Nobama and the radical socialists puling off a silent coup using voter fraud in some key states.

I don't think Cruz is capable of recognizing charisma.

McConaughey is an actor, a maker of commercials, a celebrity. He has never lead or managed anything. I can’t imagine his “dazing” Ted Cruz, although the notion he might win an election based on his looks, charm and affability might give Cruz pause. He has never won on any of those.

Boys and girls, there is absolutely nothing in Lungariello’s article to support that “dazed” bit that he added. It is pure Lungariello.

#17, I figured I'd get that pointed out when I commented.
Reagan had been a good governor of California, which is definitely not just "some actor". Reagan had, of course, been an actor, but had also been a very successful governor. And Reagan had years of radio commentary that was known which showed his incisive, well educated mind, and clear grasp of the political issues.
I'd still say it's a good rule of thumb. If a person has only been an actor, that is not a good recommendation. Lots of well reasoned writings and prior political experience to judge the politics are a very different basis than reading words written by someone else convincingly.
McConaughey shows his very scatter-brained and shallow thinking whenever he comments on issues, exactly the opposite of Reagan.
