Police retirements have risen by 45 percent in the past year, with officers opting out of forces across the country amid Black Lives Matter demonstrations that fueled anti-cop rhetoric. The alarming statistic was revealed by the Police Executive Research Forum on Sunday, with the organization also revealing that resignations rose by 18 percent during the same twelve month period. 'It is an evolving crisis,' Chuck Wexler, the organization's executive director, told The New York Times, adding that police forces are also struggling to attract new recruits. Anti-police sentiment was sparked by the murder of George Floyd by white cop Derick Chauvin in Minneapolis on Memorial Day.

Those numbers show that the leftist and socialist Democrat politicians and operatives who backed all the so-called “peaceful protestors” are a danger to the nation. After reading those numbers you would have to be an idiot to vote for a leftist and socialist Democrat politician.

There's only so much you can give to a community that refuses to value you.

I don't know if this is "tinfoil hat" territory, but my fear is that this is a *pre-planned* way to ask the Feds to help and we end up with Stasi-USA.

Why risk your life when the populated Democrat cities and their elected officials tolerate bottles, rocks, etc thrown at law enforcement officials and agree to defund the police?
If you're robbed on the streets call a counselor to fill out a report. A social worker should be in touch within a few weeks.
Defunding the police, what could possibly go wrong?

Just what did these city “leaders” expect? They allowed the mobs to rampage and loot then threw their cops under the bus. I predict that any cop who has the means to leave will do so. Those who have some savings for a move to a small city in a red state. It won’t pay as much but living costs will be fraction of what they are in NYC. Safer and a better place to raise your family. The big cities will have to drop their standards for hiring when they descend into anarchy and vigilante justice and they will get some hires that shouldn’t be wearing a badge and carrying a gun. The left is destroying this country on purpose because I cannot imagine it’s just their stupidity is all that’s behind this.

All part of the plan to make local police work so dangerous and unpalatable that the Feds must step in an federalize policing 'for the good of the country'.
A new and catchy name for this would be Geheime Staatspolizei.

In normal places, things are pretty normal. In insane places where Dems rule, things are pretty insane.
I can't imagine anyone wanting to remain a police officer in any Demonrat controlled hellhole city.

When I have to travel to downtown Atlanta, I'm always carrying, and on high alert. The number of homeless and youth just hanging around downtown has doubled in the last couple of years.

Last week I spent a night in NYC and it was quite a spectacle which I hope never to repeat. Piles of uncollected garbage, gangs of working age men roaming the streets, prostitutes everywhere, and drunks and druggies passed out on the street. The police were conspicuous by their absence. All of this a block from Times Square. There is a lesson in that somewhere but the Dems will miss it and double down on it.

Big city police can retire or quit then get a job in small town America. The town probably loves the idea of a well-trained, experienced cop (and grateful) on its force. The policeman is happy to be in a community that appreciates his efforts and supports him. Maybe he gets less money, but his cost of living is lower. Sounds like a win-win. The big city gets to suffer in the squalor it created - an even bigger win.
