New Jersey—After an outcry at a raucous public meeting over a previous decision to rename Columbus Day as Indigenous Peoples Day, the board of education at a New Jersey school district decided to strip all holiday names off of the school calendar. So holidays like Thanksgiving will not be on the calendar and will simply be called "day off". Jewish holidays of Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur were also stripped off the calendar by the move.
"If we don't have anything on the calendar, we don't have to have anyone be hurt feelings or anything like that," board member Dorene Roche said.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez's angry tweet about her grandmother's damaged home in Puerto Rico and accusations about 'blocked' Hurricane Maria aid sparked a new storm–with one right-wing commentator starting a GoFundMe page that raised $104,000 to help her 'abuela'. But the fiery congresswoman might not have the unequivocal support of one member of her family for her online outburst.(Snip) Yet she did not pin that on Trump, adding: 'It's a problem here in Puerto Rico with the administration and the distribution of help. It is not a problem with Washington. We had the assistance and it didn't get to the people.'

President Trump gave an unprecedented voice to victims of crimes committed by illegal immigrants, creating an office in ICE to highlight their plight.
The Biden administration on Friday announced a new policy to expand the office’s purview in a way that victims say drowns out their voice. What Mr. Trump dubbed the Victims of Immigration Crime Engagement Office (VOICE) is now being changed to the Victims Engagement and Services Line, and it will handle calls from anyone who claims to be a victim, no matter what their immigration status or the status of the perpetrator. And it will specialize in helping illegal immigrants who say

A Virginia mom who grew up under Chairman Mao’s brutal Communist regime has angrily ripped critical race theory as “the American version of the Chinese Cultural Revolution.” “Critical race theory has its roots in cultural Marxism—it should have no place in our schools,” Xi Van Fleet said to cheers and applause at a Tuesday meeting of the progressive Loudoun County School Board. “You are now teaching, training our children, to be social justice warriors and to loathe our country and our history,” she told the meeting of the district already bitterly divided for pushing the policy that critics accuse of itself being racist.

Washington—D.C. police were still searching Thursday for the two women and a man who stabbed and beat a transgender woman in a Northeast laundromat on Sunday, while screaming anti-gay slurs. The 31-year-old victim, Nysia Armstead, spent days in the hospital, but has finally been released.
"I got stabbed in my head, where I have 18 stitches right here," Armstead said in an exclusive interview in her Southeast, D.C. apartment. "And I have like 40 stitches in my right arm." Armstead is furious that the three people who attacked her with their fists and a large pocket knife are still at large.

A 14-year-old in Virginia is speaking out about what she says is a sexist move by Loudoun County Public Schools (LCPS) to allow "boys into girls' locker rooms." As President Biden visits foreign leaders in Europe, Vice President Kamala Harris cannot escape the pressure to visit the southern border amid the historic surge of illegal immigration under her watch as border czar.
In an interview with Univision on Thursday, Harris offered a tense response after being pressed by anchor Ilia Calderón on when she would finally visit the crossing amid the worsening migrant crisis. “I’ve said I’m going to the border,” the vice president replied. “And I –“ “When are you going to the border, Vice President?” Calderón interrupted her to ask. “I’m not finished,” Harris replied with an uncomfortable laugh, raising her finger at the host.
