Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday defended a decision by the Justice Department to continue to defend Donald Trump against a lawsuit by a writer who accused him of raping her decades ago and defaming her during his presidency.'I know about the criticism', Garland said in response to a question from Democrat Senator Patrick Leahy during a Senate budget meeting.'The job of the Justice Department in making decisions of law is not to back any administration, previous or present. Our job is to represent the American people,' Garland said during testimony before a U.S. Senate appropriations panel.'Sometimes it means that we have to make a decision about the law that

BS, Merrick, this is not about enforcing the law, this is about getting Trump.

Please allow the iconic lakerman (me) to offer a different perspective.
There are women in fiction - the tall blonde in Sex And The City, Christie in Mom, and others, who are turned on with the extra excitement of risky sex in risky locations.
Could it be that this Carrol woman was writing about a make believe incident with DJT?
And what about rape fantasy?
Those sell books.

There is no defamation case, because the woman is a public figure who wrote a book, had it published, and was going on TV talk shows promoting it. Trump was replying to accusations she made in that book.

Actually, it is the discovery that takes place during a suit or criminal charge that scared the Dems. They would have been exposed as the criminals and frauds that they are and the DNC could not tolerate that.

Sure, the DOJ really climbed out on a limb in this chicken squat case. Really appreciate all the hard efforts of the DOJ to defend Trump.

Interesting at an AG would consider a president a "foe".

Two things
1 The AG introduces is politics with the terms like friend and foe. The AG should be neutral in all cases and could have just said everyone
2 Garland is bidet's "wingman" (like "hold this" was for the zero) and may just be setting a precedent (Tara Reid ?).

This will protect Gaffetron Joe when he goes off script and calls someone a liar or fat or dull. Oh wait, he has already done that. But it will happen again.

The Trump hunt continues despite Trump being out of office. The Marxists are determined to do as much damage to this country as they can in as short a period of time that they have. They know 2022 is coming. They know there was massive fraud in the last election, and that they might not get away with it in 2022. People will be watching this time. If states try and pull that stunt again, it won't be just D.C. that will have a Capitol building problem.

I do not trust ANY liberal judge, and especially one so eager to ''defend'' DJT. I think Garland is the newest camel trying to get his nose under the Trump tent. He has something besides a ham sandwich hidden in those judicial robes.

I trust nothing that is going on in DC. The democRATS want to destroy President Trump to make it impossible for him to hold any public office in the future. Garland is up to something. I don't trust him and never will.

How very even handed of you, Garland. I am not buying this BS of yours for one minute. I know that you just personally signed the rule that proposes banning stabilizing braces for guns. Why not the interim director of ATF?
You are nothing but a gun-grabbing phony. I suspect you just haven't figured a good way to tank this case for Trump yet.

This isn't about defending President Trump. This is preventing further lawsuits against Biden for sexual assaults.

Garland's keeping his hands clean while those prosecutors will be trying to destroy Trump ... probably with a lot of help from the IRS and FBI. It won't matter if the evidence is from 20 ears ago or real or not or blown out of proportion. Just as importantly, they'll avoid presenting evidence that may help Trump.

#5 You said it much better than me. "Discovery" is what they want to avoid or limit as much as possible.

A few years ago there was a demonrat politician who said that women get off on rape fantasies. Was it Xiden? I seem to remember that it was and, of course, he skated. If I’m wrong, would someone please give us the correct name? Thanks.

Shocking. It's a wonder Joey didn't get his way this time. Maybe it was allowed if Garland kept away from sonny boy.
