Adversaries to the US are capable of shutting down the nation’s electrical grid, Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm admitted Sunday, saying that such cybersecurity attacks are “happening all the time.” Granholm warned of the system’s vulnerabilities—amid an uptick of ransomware sieges—on CNN’s “State of the Union.” “Yeah, they do,” Granholm told host Jake Tapper when asked if foreign actors have the ability to make the power grid go dark. “There are very malign actors who are trying, even as we speak,” she explained. “There are thousands of attacks on all aspects of the energy sector and the private sector generally.”

Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm
WHAT?! a GIRL is in charge of energy!
funny.. NONE of this ever happened under Trump!

Granholm got her appoitment because of her sex..... certainly not for her knowledge of the US power grid. She probably believes electricity comes out of the wall.

Well it appears that the China flu bullschiff is finally starting to wane.
Is this a warning shot across the bow about what may be coming down the pike in order to control us?

Doesn't make Green Energy very attractive now, does it. There's a simple answer though: have highly trained 'kill' teams ready to go out at a moments notice and annihilate anyone you trace these randomware or similar attacks, even across international borders.
After all, if a country permits it and argues about it, they've committed an act of war, anyway.
Kill... them...

We've been hearing this for years. Yet, when we had a President familiar with construction, it was much more important to impeach him twice, investigate him for 4 years instead of acting on behalf of WTP.
The Swamp needs to be drained and never again replicated! Eliminate all 3-5 letter agencies!

#1 Thinking the same thing. In the next few weeks you'll have election fraud being announced, Fauci on the hot seat, more news about Hunter, Durham ready to unleash, more border problems, Trump gaining speed and the only thing to stop all of that will be some sort of cyber assault on our grid system. The CIA is probably behind the pipeline and the meat packing plant. Covid is coming out to be a unnecessary pandemic so they can't still use that.

#20, How do you get the gas from the gas pumps? Don’t they work on electricity?
#17, You know these people, don’t you? Of course, something big is going to have to come along to detract or prevent the revelation of massive fraud by the present illegitimate administration. What a perfect distraction. It probably will not impact all of the country but enough so we will have to mount a massive rescue in parts of the country. Read the book, One Second After by William R. Forstchen. It will give you insight into what happens after the power grid fails. Not pretty. This would have a devastating result and I pray nothing like this ever happens. We really should have dealt with the issue long ago. Of course, the reprobates in Washington were too busy lining their pockets and working toward the great reset.

Wow, that sounds pretty bad. But I thought our biggest threat was white supremacists? Are they going to attack the grid? Perhaps we should have been defending the grid focusing on outside threats with our national resources rather than using them as political tools to defend the coup against constitutional thought.

Now let’s see. Biden says he is for jobs and infrastructure, but the first thing he does upon taking office is to kill the Keystone XL pipeline. That was 11,000 jobs eliminated and the safest and most efficient infrastructure for moving fuels is killed. The Democrats cheer. The Colonial pipeline is shut down by hackers and the Democrat declare this an infrastructure sabotage attack against our country.
Both pipeline shutdowns sabotaged our infrastructure. Both hurt our economy. The current administration is irrational.

These shut downs don't make sense. Pipelines can be operated with a guy at each pumping station answering a phone and taking instructions from home base about which valves to turn. I think the shutdown was more about the billing department and keeping track of who owes what. And that is mostly because they have forgotten how to enter data into a ledger with a pencil.
The beef shutdown is probably the same thing.
The electric grid is highly automated but can be unautomated quickly and easily.
This is like the 2K fears that the water was going to be off.

Great. Now I have to worry about losing power because somebody in east bumfrack got a computer. I'm still trying to figure why my power goes out on a bright sunny day with no wind, but the power stays on through 60 to 70 mph winds, pouring rain, and enough lighting strikes to power the planet for a decade.

Does anybody remember the Northeast Blackout in 1966 or 67? It was discovered that a switch was changed in the Niagara Falls area, that caused the whole Northeastern states to be without power, just one grid caused havoc to our Country.
I remember it well, for I, as an OR nurse, was stuck in an elevator with a patient who was to have emergency surgery. We finally got out safely and proceeded to do the surgery by flashlights.

This article is only concerned about cyber-attacks, but the far bigger threat is kinetic attacks on electrical transmission infrastructure: 20 guys with AKs could knock out the entire US grid for 9 to 12 months, and could do it in about 15 minutes...at least according the FERC study following the actual attack on the Metcalf substation in San Jose, in 2013.
Just think about it...no electricity for 9 to 12 months, across virtually the entire USA...the FERC study projected that about 90% of Americans would starve to death.
Has the US grid been hardened since 2013? If it has, they've been very quiet about it.

Adversaries do not have to destroy our electrical grid, Biden is already doing that by overloading it with electric vehicles, No fuel oil for heat, and shutting down power plants.

No, not Joe "Green New Deal" Biden removing our usable sources of energy, but malign foreign actors. Except that the feds years ago spent a fortune hardening Our Vulnerable Electric Grid against terrorist attacks after 9/11. You know, the same feds who rebuilt Our Crumbling Infrastructure recently under King Putt (which never happened, because it's still crumbling), and who secured airplanes against terrorists (yet some crazy woman keeps sneaking on jets, and inspectors routinely sneak fake weapons and bombs past security), and who also secured the internet against hackers (yet they're making noises about this again, despite being powerless to stop endless fraud phone calls selling car warrantees and mortgages).
