The suspect accused of snatching a sleeping Dallas boy who was later found dead allegedly tried to kidnap another child just months earlier—but the girl’s grandfather decided not to press charges at the time, authorities said. Darriyn Brown, 18, who is charged with kidnapping 4-year-old Cash Gernon earlier this month, is facing counts of burglary of a habitation and injury to an elderly person in the Feb. 8 incident, according to an arrest warrant affidavit obtained by the KTVT.(Snip) The man managed to get Brown out, but the teen returned and started kicking a door between the home and its garage,

Sen. Rick Scott said Thursday he will block top Homeland Security nominees until President Biden makes a trip to the southern border to get a firsthand look at the situation. Mr. Scott revealed his stance at a confirmation hearing with three nominees, the picks for deputy secretary, general counsel, and undersecretary for strategy, policy and plans. He said it wasn’t anything personal toward the three nominees, but rather a statement about Mr. Biden’s approach to the border. “Until the president goes to the border, I’m going to hold the nominations,” he said. A hold throws procedural hurdles in the path of the picks,

Homeland Security is moving to cut questions about gang affiliation from the application migrants file to get green cards, in a change that one former employee says could mean dangerous criminals will have an easier time getting through the process. Rob Law, a former chief of policy and strategy at U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, revealed the planned changes Thursday, saying it appears to be part of the Biden team’s attempt at erasing the get-tough approach of the previous administration.(Snip)
The Washington Times has reviewed a document that does call for the deletion of Trump additions. Mr. Law said the new Biden team

A government probe last year into the origins of the coronavirus found practically no evidence COVID-19 originated from nature, former State Department official David Asher told Fox News on Thursday.
"We were finding that despite the claims of our scientific community, including the National Institutes of Health and Dr. Fauci's NIAID organization, there was almost no evidence that supported a natural, zoonotic evolution or source of COVID-19," he told "America Reports."(Snip) "That was the epicenter of synthetic biology in the People's Republic of China, and they were up to some very hairy stuff with synthetic biology and so-called gain-of-function techniques," Asher said

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday issued a call for public-private partnerships to create incentives for people to remain in their Central American homelands, teaming with companies who invest in the region.
Twelve companies and groups including Microsoft Corp, Mastercard and Nestle's Nespresso on Thursday will commit to making investments in Central America—a win for Harris as she aims to lower migration from the region into the United States.(Snip) And her move comes amid a significant drop in arrests by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents inside the U.S.

Reporters aren’t tired of dishing out soft-serve ice cream questions for President Biden—and he isn’t tired of answering. The Democrat was greeting with a round of “oh!” and “yeah!” responses Thursday after once again fielding inquiries on his favorite flavors of ice cream. “Mr. President! What did you order?” a reporter exclaimed as Mr. Biden stopped in at Honey Hut Ice Cream in Cleveland. “Chocolate-chocolate chip,” the commander-in-chief responded to his rapt audience.(Snip)Mr. Biden faced similar questioning prior to the 2020 election when reporters pressed him for his favorite flavor of milkshake in North Carolina.(Snip)The then-candidate was ushered away

Casey Anthony is tired of “getting drinks thrown in her face,” according to a police report. Anthony, famously acquitted of murder in the 2008 death of her young daughter, Caylee, informed investigators of the ongoing issue following an incident at a Florida bar called O’Shea’s Irish Pub. The once-accused killer called police to the West Palm Beach watering hole on Sunday after a tense run-in with a former friend, later identified as Thelma Moya, the police report stated. Anthony told responding officers the tiff—started over “an ex-boyfriend they were dating at the same time”—culminated in Moya spilling “water on [Anthony’s] left leg.”

Hillary and Bill Clinton were spotted having dinner with friends on Manhattan's Upper East Side Tuesday evening. Exclusive DailyMail.com photos show the presidential pair arriving separately with a Secret Service detail to posh uptown restaurant Fleming by Le Bilboquet. But Hillary, sipping her favorite white wine, looked glum as her ever-engaging husband was deep in conversation with Sting's wife Trudie Styler, who at one point rested her head on Bill's shoulder for a group selfie. Bill was dressed in a blue suit with a checkered button-down shirt—no tie—while Hillary wore a three-quarter-length striped wool coat as she drank her wine.

Dr. Anthony Fauci admitted that there's no way to know if Chinese scientists at the Wuhan Institute of Virology lied and conducted what are called 'gain of function' experiments on bat coronaviruses using U.S. tax dollars.
'There's no way of guaranteeing that,' Fauci said Wednesday at a Senate Appropriations Committee hearing to Republican Sen. John Kennedy. 'But in our experience with grantees, including Chinese grantees, which we have had interactions with for a very long period of time—they are very competent, trustworthy scientists.' 'Gain of function' experiments are conducted to make viruses more contagious or deadly.

The Chinese consulate in Houston, ordered closed by the Trump administration last year, was a “major hub” for Beijing’s global science and technology collection efforts, according to a new study. Georgetown University’s Center for Security and Emerging Technology examined 642 ‘international technological cooperation opportunities’ between 2015 and 2020 identified by Chinese diplomats and found the Houston post was the key hub for science and technology (S&T) collection globally. U.S. critics say intellectual property theft and piracy have been key to China‘s drive to close the technology gap with the U.S. and the West.(Snip) The Georgetown researchers’ report sheds new light on claims by the Trump
