President Joe Biden took planes, automobiles - but not trains - to Philadelphia to mark Amtrak's 50th anniversary on Friday. The president, who earned the nickname 'Amtrak Joe' during his Senate career, stood in front of a new Acela train outside of 30th Street Station and gushed about his 'family' of train workers while warning cuts to the service 'would be a disaster for our environment and our economy.' 'I want to tell you these guys, women they work like the devil. They really, really, really do. And Amtrak wasn't just a way of getting home, it provided me - and I'm not joking -

I studied the map. I wonder, was there a direct connection between Louisville and Nashville, back when trains WERE the way to go? And it appears, that to travel from Atlanta to Chicago, one has to travel way out of the way---almost to D. C.---by train. I suppose those are the two busiest air travel hubs for passengers. And goods shipped are charged by the mile. Hamhock Joe makes sense from a 'pork' perspective.

I have ridden Amtrak and have enjoyed the rides. However, unless one is on a route, its difficult to use. Its more a part of a vacation than an alternative to driving or flying. I can understand high population areas connected by Amtrak but for most of the country its not a practical alternative for travel.

I used to ride Amtrak from Philadelphia to New York and really liked the Metroliner and always wanted to try the Acela but the prices were too high even back 20 years ago. I cringe to think what they must be today. I don't see how this is going to help the average person at all unless the money is used to lower fares and I don't see any indication that that would be the case.

Trains in the USA are just STUPID. The distances are too long, the tracks too few and in too bad of shape, and the cars are old and battered. Not workable.

I've loved trains all my life, but I have to say it is time to kill AMTRAK. The last time I rode the train (several years ago), the scenery was great, but the equipment was in terrible shape - my shower dripped all night, then quit completely in the middle of my morning shower. The dining car food was inedible. Thank goodness there was a snack bar for coach passengers that stocked microwavable pizza, and burgers, snacks and sodas.

Trains will never be popular in America as long as it is cheaper to fly. It cost twice as much to go from Washington DC to California by train as it does to fly it takes 4 days and you have to buy meals that add to the cost.

President Joe Biden is not as radical as conservatives said he would be. He is much, much worse. The man who was sold to Americans as a “moderate” by First Lady Dr. Jill Biden, and who told voters, “I beat the socialist,” has been the most radical president in U.S. history. Biden has proposed a staggering $6 trillion in spending, most of it unpaid for, and most of it on big government programs. He has also proposed massive tax hikes, in the midst of what he claims is a historic economic crisis. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has called Biden’s first 100 days in office a “bait and switch,”

Our country’s racial past is checkered, to say the least, but because our founders were wise men, if not perfect men, they bequeathed us a form of government we the people, through our representatives, could alter.Over the course of our history, through laws, constitutional amendments, and, sadly, a civil war, our predecessors got us as close to “a more perfect union” than when our country was founded. But in recent years, the American left, using the Democratic Party as its vehicle, has been working overtime to tear down all of the progress we’ve made.

Yet we've been creeping away from those principles for many years. In the last 12 years, that creep has become a sprint. The world's beacon of freedom is dying,
