HAVANA — Raul Castro said Friday he is resigning as head of Cuba’s Communist Party, ending an era of formal leadership by he and his brother Fidel Castro that began with the 1959 revolution. The 89-year-old Castro made the announcement Friday in a speech at the opening of the Eighth congress of the ruling party, the only one allowed on the island. He said he was retiring with the sense of having “fulfilled his mission and confident in the future of the fatherland.”

That's a rare one for a crusty old, evil communist. Maybe they'll ask ovomit to come and take over.

Who will take over Cuba at our backdoor now that the Castro's are gone? My guess is China. They will be within ninety miles from us in a perfect position to assist the crazies in the destruction of America. Don't count out anything happening with Biden and the cackler in the White House.
When are they going to rename the White House to the Crazy House ?

Looks like an opening in Cuba that Obama could fill.

Clock is ticking Raul. If you don't change your ways, you may end up being your brother's roommate.

I don’t see this change being any better for the Cubans. Expect to see the Chinese move in. They need a base on this continent and a nice place with good beaches close to their mortal enemy may be just what they want. They know they can move around and do anything they want with impunity since O’Biden is pretending to run this country.
I can see them setting up shop in Cuba. It would be the perfect location to make sure Biden stays bought when Xi Jinping decides to invade Taiwan.

Need to check with my Cuban friends in Miami to see if the Wicked Witch is really dead. My guess is no. Would be a great opportunity to usher in a free society, but the people in control in Washington are not interested in Free societies, Democracy, or individual liberty.

I would assume that the Chinese are there already. The entire world seems to be one step ahead of our sham administration. A base within spitting distance of US territory, all of that oil in the Gulf that Obama saved for them, monitoring stations for all of our communications. Yep, they are there.

China at our border...sounds like the Cuban missile crisis is heading our way... this time china... not Russia...and the ole commie retires in luxury while his people starve...his visit coming soon should be interesting as he negotiates with God about his life of death and destruction...

So, let's go float a fleet in the Black Sea and reinforce Poland...while the US, Leader of the Free World, is staring at an opportunity in its backyard. As the article notes, a younger generation has been pushing an economic opening without touching Cuba’s one-party system. Let's look at other Communist countries who have met their future in a global economy. Where follow the Soviet Union? It may be a dictatatorship; it is far from communist. Poland...Czech Republic...Bulgaria...Romania...Vietnam...anyone see the Communists retaining actual power? Vietnam has a freer economy than the US. NoKor is the sole exception, and it borders China for the benefit of one family, like Cuba.
The US should step in quickly in these new "special times". The people of Cuba get it. They're not all ardent Communists. Most remain in poverty looking for a better life, just as they did before The Revolution. The US and Cuban exile community can do that. But, if you'd rather antagonize Putin or Xi...

You are, of course, correct, #15. Cuba would be the opportunity of a lifetime right now and it will be ignored by the Biden administration until some other country siezes the opportunity first and the odds are it will not be a US-friendly country. For a while, it would be a situation similar to what we have with Puerto Rico but it won't take the Cubans seventy years to get on their feet. They are an entirely different sort of people.

Whoever comes along after the Castro's is likely to be worse. Its hard to imagine, but it will happen. Nobody is minding the store in the USA. The opportunity is too good to pass up for our enemies. Have to imagine Raul is taking calls from China, Russia, Iran, and others. they will only be too happy to help set Cuba's foreign policy.

The Castro brothers were purely evil, killed huge numbers. But I fear that the 'vaccine' will make all previous Communist genocides seem like nothing at all.

If you go to Cuba, you would think Batista was overthrown last week. Like the high school quarterback that still talks about the state championship 20 years later, they’ve done nothing worthwhile since.
The new leaders are desperate, with the Russian and Venezuelan colonizers too broke to continue. China is the only country with the cash to keep this failed state running.

Lo and behold! The USA outlasts the Communist evil... again!
Cuba will always be a corrupt and despicable social pariah, just as they were before La Révolution!
Drugs, prostitution, crime... such a legacy.

Are Biden and his HO communists?
They love Castro, Stalin and Lenin.
Soon, the Democrats will transform our America into a Communist Cuban Dictatorship?
Obama never talked about the Cuban Gulags.
I have seen them and they are horrible.
My NOBLEWOMAN Russian Grandmother was named Sophia for the Greek Goddess of Wisdom.
She was kind, beautiful and very religious.
The Lenin CHEKA goons accused her of 'being a enemy of the working people".
The CHEKA bums arrested her and her young daughter Natalia, and shipped them to a horrible communist Gulag.
Shall I tell you more?
