Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) was chosen to receive the 2021 John F. Kennedy Presidential Library’s Profile in Courage Award for having been the only Republican to vote in favor of convicting former President Donald Trump during his first impeachment trial.“The 2021 Profile in Courage Award goes to Senator Mitt Romney for his vote to convict President Donald J. Trump in 2020, and his consistent and courageous defense of democracy,” the JFK Library said. “As the first Senator to have ever voted to convict a President of his own party, Senator Romney’s courageous stand was historic.

No doubt the Democrats are pleased as punch to give Romney a prize for voting to impeach Trump.

I can pretty much guarantee that had any democrat voted to convict Bill Clinton back in the day, he would not have been nominated for any award for his "courage." He would have been called every name that I call Romney.
Now we'll have to see if he is man enough to accept it or turn it down. My bet is that he will have "other commitments" but will thank the organization for their recognition of his selfless service to humanity.

The JFK Profiles in Courage award lost its luster many years ago. Now, it's a "we really like you, or at least we do this week" award that the left gives to those who agree with them.

Romney, who uses the Republican label, wins an award from the Democrats, for stabbing the Republicans in the back. I personally think the man is going to hell.

There were so many contenders for this award, John McCain, John Kerry, John Kasich, Mikey Bloomberg, Mike Pence, Mitch McConnell, Susan Collins. I wonder what outstanding quality was displayed by Delecto to earn first prize.

Never heard of this award. How apt since JFK's book was authored by someone else, so this award is based on a scam. How fitting that a phony pond scum like Romney was chosen for this meaningless trophy.

And to add to #18s post, when the Senate was about to censure Senator Joe McCarthy, a Kennedy family friend who had hired Bobby Kennedy, JFK went into the hospital for 'elective back surgery' thus avoiding the censure vote.
That act of cowardice, and Ted Sorenson's ghost writing of profiles in courage, gave JFK the Pulitzer Prize.
Profiles in Cowardice would have been a more fitting title to use

Aint that great? An award given to mitt for stabbing America in the back?
AND the award itself......An award created to honor a man for his courage for actions he took after having his small, fast PT boat RUN OVER and cut in half by a big slow and LOUD japanese destroyer. The ONLY time that has ever happened. And HOW did that happen? HOW did that big slow and loud destroyer manage to pull that off? SIMPLE!! The courageous jfk and crew were passed out drunk from drinking torpedo juice, the pure alcohol fuel used to power torpedoes.

A backward burp in backstabbing Pierre Delecto's general direction. The Profile in Courage Award has for a long time been a way for the Kennedys to reward their political allies. No political ally of the Kennedys is worth another thought.

Ohhh....kinda like the liberal Hollywood elite giving each other awards for virtue signaling. The political equivalent of an Oscar,, Emmy or Grammy. To real people, this award means nothing. Liberal Elites rewarding each other for doing what liberal elites do naturally.

Reminds me of when Zero was awarded (I will not say he 'won') that Nobel Peace Prize for doing.....Nothing.
It tells us more about the 'quality' of the people making the award than it does anything else.
I was a little (under 10 years old) kid when JFK was President. All I knew was that he was President.
Later I found out a lot more about him and his administration. Ugh!
Regardless, I think JFK would be run out of today's leftist Democ'RAT party.
I take issue with the comment slamming of JFK and his PT boat crew.
Having spent a fair amount of time on boats at night, I can easily envision the PT patrolling, idling along at a slow speed, everything completely blacked out, the boat's engines likely made enough noise to mask any noise from the Japanese destroyer... being on an open boat I have watched freighters pass by -not very far away- at night, and could not hear any sound they were making. Having read JFK's 'PT109' story many years ago, as well as more recently several books on the PT boats, as well as Captain Hara's well-known book 'Japanese Destroyer Captain', the Japanese destroyers were pretty fast, 30 to 35 knots top speed. The collision was an accident and was a surprise to everyone involved. When, a few seconds before being rammed, Kennedy saw the IJN Amagiri, he turned and throttled up to get out of the way. Likewise, (direct quote of the destroyer captain) "I, Captain Yamashiro ordered 'Hard-A-Port", as he feared damage to his ship if one of the PT's torpedoes exploded.
To me, this trash criticism is similar to the criticism I once read of Navy pilot John McCain that claimed that he was responsible for the USS Forrestal fire, a claim that is completely false (regardless of how worthless he was later as a US Senator.) McCain's jet was parked with the tail out over the edge of the deck, when it was struck by a 'Zuni' missile and caught fire. Nothing McCain could do but get out ASAP!
IMHO, it takes a special kind of scum to sit in their nice safe, comfortable chair and type out trash to criticize the guys who put their life on the line for our country.
