We have never had a better opportunity to create an alternative to the crumbling, corrupt public school system. Conservatives must decide how to act and then act quickly.
Throughout parts of the United States, children have not been in school for a year. Instead, they are expected to daily attend zoom classes. What that means in practical terms is that many kids sit somewhere at home, log in to class, turn off the camera, and go back to bed or play games on their phone throughout the “school” day. One young man I know is one of only two students in his entire middle school class whose face appears

I’m surprised that the left didn’t catch this major flaw in their diabolical, Covid scheme to get rid of President Trump. It is essential to the left to capture the youth by indoctrination, and many feel that this is where we must focus our energy, if we are to break their iron grip on our culture. The fact that whoever masterminded this entire fiasco didn’t consider losing their main method of propaganda gives me great hope. It is a gaping hole in their armor, and one that cannot be repaired quickly, as they are bound tightly to the teachers’ unions. It was a stupid move on the part of the left, and one they will come to regret. I agree with the author that now is the time to take advantage of this situation. When God closes a door...

Problem with this theory is School Boards need to approve Home Schooling. I suspect it is going to get harder and harder!

First , ban unions. Second, teachers need a note from their doctor in order to be paid for absence over and above that of the private sector ( real workers).
There! That was easy.

We can create all the "public school alternatives" we want to - - but we still have to pay for the socialist "public" schools - - and all the corruption that comes with them.
I'm still waiting for someone to challenge the Constitutionality of any government owning, operating, or subsidizing schools. It's a gross conflict of interest - - if not an illegal act. No gutless Pubbie will ever take this up.

In PA, there are public charter schools. It's great. Less nonsense. However, the students need to self-discipline to get the work done.

"The school district cannot force children to turn the camera on."
Is it any wonder why kids are not attending, tuning out, and getting behind in their work? The top issues schools face in public school virtual instruction is attendance and engagement. That means a huge number of parents are also not engaged. Per the California school board members who all had to resign, parents are too used to them babysitting their kids. In defense of these parents, they got used to what was provided for them; schools sought to take over and act as sub-parents, and many parents let them. Too late to complain about it now, school people. Bad things happen when you allow too much power into the hands of a few. You discover those in power really don't care after all is said and done, and you discover just how much damage they've caused all around.

Revoke truancy laws, refund property taxes, let parents chose schools (or not; their choice), demolish wind turbines and solar panels thereby getting a twofer - building reliable power systems and ending kickbacks to school districts. Schools will be fewer (and likely smaller) but much better in quality. Almost forgot, end sports primacy which leads to large kiddie warehouses to feed college sports programs.

Where are the education reformers and entrepreneurs? This is a golden time for them to re-create schools, and to put the traditional "public schools" with teachers' unions in their place. But, then we have to stop fixating on saving public schools...they're not worth saving.

IMO, people who commit their children to the government school system condemn the child to a life of ignorance and slavery. They will be conditioned to believe that government is a benevolent protector and provider. They will not know history, and will not learn critical thinking. They will be ruled by tyrants.

My grand daughters are in Charter School here in Florida and I GLADLY help foot the bill. We sent both of our daughters to private schools it took some sacrifices but it was worth every penny.
