Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-Ky.) office told Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer's (D-N.Y.) staff on Wednesday that the GOP will not agree to reconvene the Senate before Jan. 19 to allow an impeachment trial while President Trump is still in office. A senior Senate Republican aide confirmed that McConnell's office reached out to Schumer's office to relay the message that Republicans will not agree to a Friday session to enable House Democrats to present an article of impeachment to the Senate while Trump is in office.

While Mitch’s refusal is a good thing, he has had a lot of practice doing nothing so it surely wasn’t much of a strain.

I'm surprised the rat did the right thing. And, Schumer, "this is a time of emergency!". Dems are aways pushing a crisis narrative to try to get their way. If they were TRULY worried about more violence from "Trump supporters", impeaching Trump is the last thing they'd want to do.

Schumer thinks this is an emergency? Naci clutches her pearls and Schumer swoons at the thought of their show trail being thwarted.

Mitch is way too much like Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde to be able to trust him as far as you can throw him.

You folks are missing the entire point of the impeachment efforts and all the frenzied attacks by the Democrats...they keep the Republicans on the defensive and totally shut off any attempts to question or audit any voting fraud before the magic moment on January 20 when they take over everything and have (most importantly) the intelligence agencies, DOJ, and the military at their complete command. They want to eliminate any possibility that Trump will make a move to stop them at the last minute by force while he still is Commander in Chief. This isn't just the usual noise and Democrat goofiness. They are intimidating almost all the Republicans in Congress and controlling almost all legislative action with their aggressive charges and actions.
The Republicans are helpless waifs and have no clue how they're being steamrolled.

I have to believe several Constitutional Experts who say you can not Impeach a PRIVATE CITIZEN! So what in the world are these Idiots trying to do? If they know they have run out of time, they need to forget it! They already look like the Loonies who escaped the Asylum!

#12, their "logic" (and I use the term very loosely since Demon-Rats are mentally incapable of actually applying logic, reason, or facts to anything) is that if they start the impeachment process in the Senate before President Trump leaves office, they honestly believe they are allowed to complete it even after he is out of office.
Yes, it's illogical and illegal. But when they stack the Supreme Court, anything the lie-berals want can then be declared "constitutional". So don't count anything out at this point!!!

As someone posted yesterday, let the Senate hold an impeachment trial after Donald Trump is out of office. The Republicans will then be permitted to hold a trial with witnesses. At the trial, Trump's lawyers will finally be able to present evidence of the massive election fraud. If that happens, then this impeachment farce will bite Nancy in her botoxed hiney.

Do Democrats sincerely believe that Hillary or Obama could have been constitutionally impeached after they left office?

Well #12, how many things have the Democrats, FBI, CIA done and gotten away with that also not Constitutional? Who does anything about it?
Thank you #11.

#14 - the damage is already done. They can review evidence day and night for eternity, it won’t change the fact that Harris is an illegitimate President, and it won’t change the fact that our votes are meaningless both in this last election and then going forward. The Republicans have been complicit in this - they don’t want to break the model, Because it’s too lucrative for all involved. And now, even the Republicans are thrilled if We The People no longer have a voice,

Thanks for nothing, Mitch "No Balls" McConnell. You are now NOT a Republican senator but a member of the Politburo. No doubt, since you are bought and paid for by the CCP, you will rubber stamp the most outrageously unconstitutional "legislation." And if challenged at the SCOTUS, CJ Commissar Roberts will dig deeply into blank sheets of paper in front of him and call it a "tax."
