Ruth Bader Ginsburg: The political ramifications
of a political jurist

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg died Friday night after 27 years on the United States Supreme Court. I’m ignoring the Romans warning de mortuis nil nisi bonum (of the dead, say nothing but good). Ginsburg used her seat on the Supreme Court as a political office and, reputedly, her dying wish was political. The politicization of her Supreme Court seat and the political fallout from her death are, therefore, appropriate topics. (snip) That praise -- that she “fought” for “justice and equality” -- sums up everything that was wrong with Ginsburg for it describes a political activist, not a judge.

She is meeting Jesus now.
Wonder what He thinks of her opinion on abortion.
Praying for all the people who chose abortion instead of life.

A shock, Dan? She’s been dying for years. She was hospitalized numerous times in the last year and then lied about being cancer-free. The only shocking thing is that she lasted this long.
I wonder if God will ask her about that wonderful South African constitution and all of the dead white farmers. Or about all of the dead black babies.
Bottom line and should be carved on her tombstone - EVIL.

Folks I hate to pop your balloon, but there is NO WAY DT gets somebody on the Court anytime soon.
However, if he does somehow, I will come on here and mea culpa all the lovelong day.

Her politics, her views, her judicial opinions were all toxic. One can have all sorts of polllyannaish statements about not speaking ill of the dead. But the best thing still is - she can do more harm! Good riddance!

I almost puked with the over the top praise for Ginsburg on Fox from Martha. This little POS was a political hack that had apparently little respect for the Constitution, and was a political hack to the end. She even told her daughter that her replacement should be done by the NEW president. While I hope Trump waits about a week before naming a replacement, the Republicans in the Senate better fall in line behind Trump.

Grimburg did more than anyone to justify the end of the federal judiciary. Unborn babies have a little more reason for hope today.

i will always remember Ruthie for her words spoken during oral arguments, Bush v. Gore, 2000.
"I just don't see a federal issue here."

I'm still wondering what Scalia saw in her where they became more than just cordial with each other, but true friends. I guess opposites do attract even outside of physics.

I'd love to be a fly on the wall when she has her conversation with the Lord. In addition to what above posters have suggested I'd like to hear her explain to Him why she considered pedophilia to be of educational benefit to children and why she thought the age of consent should be lowered to 12. Was Ruthie even aware that this meeting would take place? We will all have a meeting with Him in order to be held accountable for our words, thoughts, and actions. She is not above that law and in this instance it will take only One Vote to send her off to her eternal reward.
Bon Voyage, Ruthie. I'm sure Satan will give you an extremely WARM welcome since you were so faithful in doing his work on earth. He has lots of "rewards" waiting for you so enjoy!!

Ms. Widberg, here's fair notice, I'm going to steal this line from your article about Justice Ginsburg:
That she “fought” for “justice and equality” -- sums up everything that was wrong with Ginsburg, for it describes a political activist, not a judge.

RBG was a despicable person, IMO. entirely uninterested in adhering to what the Constitution said. She had her mind made up in advance on all cases, based on politics, the decision having nothing to do with the law. After her political decision was made, she spent her time writing up some silly nonsense in legalese to try to twist the law into a pretzel to match what her political choice had been.
The country will be better off without her deciding important things.

In the spirit of 'de mortuis nil nisi bonum', I will say this. I loved watching her passed out drunk at Obambi's State of the Union address. Sums up the very best about her. ANd I admire that she had the courage to do what so many would need to do to listen to a Obambi speech, get drunk! I think Trump should follow the Obambi example of nominating a justice for the Supreme court right before an election. If its good enough for Obambi, it should be the model for all presidents from now on.

I’m tired of all the hagiographies in the press about this witch, Fox News included. She was an ACLU hack, as well as a eugenicist and a racist. We’re well rid of her.
Now - get Ms. Barrett on the bench, ASAP.

I am not unhappy she is gone. It was due to her own arrogance and a bit of racism that she refused to retire during the Obama administration. In fact, last night there was a huge amount of fury directed at her from the Left, angry she was such an egotist about retirement during the Obama administration. So this is on her that Trump gets to nominate his own candidate. I sure hope it is Amy, for the hypocrisy will be huge.

In terms of jurisprudence, Ginsburg does not rank high. She was driven more by the outcome than the Constitution or other laws. She didn't author any landmark decisions and is known more for her political views than her legal scholarship. She also gets a little too much credit for being a trailblazer for women. All women of her generation and earlier had the same roadblocks to overcome. She was not the first women Supreme Court justice and her rise to the Supreme Court was after women had pretty much gained equality in the legal world.

From what I saw on TV and the newspaper articles, most of the conservative voices were respectful of Justice Ginsburg’s passing. If I remember correctly, most of the liberal voices were very hateful when they spoke of Justice Scalia’s passing. That’s who they are.
