Under sunny skies, hundreds of teachers and supporters of city school students started marching this morning at 11 a.m. to insist that the Philadelphia School District make racial justice changes they believe are long overdue for the district’s 125,000 students. The group, some holding signs supporting Black Lives Matter and better funding for city schools, started their march at City Hall, proceeding north toward the district’s Broad Street headquarters. Organizers came well prepared with water, sunscreen, and snacks. They also encouraged people to get tested for COVID-19. Most in the crowd, including students, were donning masks. The marchers want better treatment

Poor little brain-washed children, led towards destruction "...with water, sunscreen, and snacks" by their stupid, brain-washed Marxist teachers. Public employees should never have been allowed to unionize.

Interesting. Schools were closed to 'protect everyone from the plague' ... But the students and teachers still manage to get together to 'protest'.

Well, at least we know when the next spike in Covid-19 cases are going to happen in Philadelphia!!!
Sort of like clockwork. Have a protest where your cause is more important than practicing virus safety protocols, and two weeks later you have a Covid-19 surge!!!

Until the students and their parent(s) believe that an education is a worthwhile pursuit nothing will change. If you do not participate in your education you will not become educated. And then there is the belief that if you are intelligent, and want to learn and participate then you are simply "acting white". I work in a middle school library. Around Christmas vacation we encourage the students to check out a book or two. I had one student, a young black male, who loved to read. He always had a book in his hands, checking out, looking for just the right book and loved to discuss what he had read. It was one day away from break and I had not seen him. So I sent for him to come to the library during his study hall. I asked him why he hadn't been down? I had been saving some new books for him to look over and possibly check out. He told me that he could not take any books home over vacation. He would be having family visit for Christmas and they would make fun of him, call him whitey, even the family members he lived with harassed him because he liked to read. He said he couildn't deal with it. So you tell me what are we supposed to do? He wanted to go to college and become a lawyer. I hope he makes it. The average black student who graduates from high school reads at an 8th grade level. Either they are not intellegent enough to read at a higher level, or they simply refuse to engage in their education. Which is it? White students sit in the same classes and excell. Student who go into excellerated classes are not chosen. They test in to those classes. No one is stopping a black student from testing into one of those classes. There is so much to offer these students but they won't even meet us halfway. When parents send their children to school for the babysitting and the free food this is what you get.

I guess they want it mandated that you attend school. No running the streets in gangs anymore! Turn the police into truant officers.

Those "students" are too dumb to realize - - that it's those very same "teachers" who are suppressing them and guaranteeing their failure.
Good - - let them wallow in failure together.

Why is this allowed? Since when are teachers allowed to promote their political views with students? I can't ever or even imagine this going on when I was in school. The closest to any political view I ever saw from teachers was the day when John F. Kennedy was shot. Several teachers I noticed were crying or had cried.

In response to #3 -- I doubt whether there will be a spike as the result of this march. Because the dangers of this "plague" are now no worse than an ordinary flu. The mindless left has been marching en masse in NYC for one month, and today we had zero deaths for the first time since March. "Cases" aren't spiking either.
There is a "spike" in "confirmed cases" in certain states, e.g. Florida and Texas. But this too is Democrat nonsense. There is NO spike, or even increase in deaths in those states. What's happening is that young people are experiencing spring fever, escaping the lockdown, and hitting the beach, resulting in non-symptomatic or mild cases are being "confirmed."
Some thousands more people may die of Covid -- 30,000-80,000 Americans die from better-known and more conventional flues every year. This is sad. It is also no excuse for continued catastrophic lockdown of the economy.
Here's the truth -- If the Democrats could win the presidential election tomorrow, Dr. Fauci would give us the all clear signal the next day.

In my many years living in the Northeast and having a few roots in Philadelphia, I cannot recall the last time Philly had a Republican mayor, so who is to blame for the school problems? Just ask’in!

They better have their little behinds physically in school in August. Teachers too! Always asking for more money while failing students left and right. We spend the most money ever just to have the dumbest population ever, and it's all done on purpose.

#13, my guess would be Frank Rizzo. Philadelphia is in no position to lecture anyone about anything. It is a city of corruption and protected lawlessness.

Have any more doubts about what children are taught in schools anymore? To get out and protest is no doubt a requirement for HS graduation.

The lefty dem's control over the American students' education system has obliterated the once exemplary public education system and replaced it with decades of socialist lies and propaganda. The once great universities have been churning out cookie-cutter lefty teachers controlled by their NEA tool, with marching orders delivered through their central planning Governmental Dept. Of Education. The result is uneducated, politically manipulated student pawns. Time to reclaim America's educational system and return to actually teaching the facts, not the politically leftist pap conjured by America's enemies.

Why not fire all the white teachers, administrators, staff, and outside consultants? The 95% or so of them who are devout Marxists surely would take no issue with such a modest first step.
