Cancel culture is here to stay, at least for the foreseeable future, which means that the name for Washington D.C.’s NFL franchise – the Washington Redskins – is pretty likely to go. I fail to understand how a name like "redskins" can be thought of as disrespectful of a feared opponent as the American Indians were considered during the early years of our nation. Some teams have names of dangerous animals because its members hope the name will convey the same consideration. Are we to also change the names of some of our towns, cities, states, lakes, rivers, etc. because they were also names used by Native Americans?

Let's not whitewash the whole thing just to pretend our country didn't conquer the Indians in our fulfillment of 'manifest destiny'. Every country has come about via conquest -- whether wholesale or incremental. If you want to unravel that in some misguided pursuit of justice, then nobody on this world right now has a home, except the Indians. But even in THEIR history, tribal conflicts caused territories to be gained and lost, too (and the taking of slaves, omg). So even they would have to be cancelled and go somewhere else. I know, let all who can't live with the thought that somebody was deprived of their land just commit suicide, instead of trying to get the whole world to kill itself.

If there’s one thing Democrats have taught us about AR-15s, it’s that they are the most powerful, deadly weapons of war ever created, assembled by the devil himself. Of course, anyone that knows anything about the platform and the round it shoots knows that’s nonsense, but still, when someone of a leftward persuasion shoots one, hilarity often ensues. That’s what was on tap when Kevin McCallum, writing for Seven Days in Vermont, decided to share his experience shooting an AR-15 at an indoor gun range. To hear him tell it, he basically had an out-of-body experience due to the massive, bone-rattling recoil.

The canonical repertoire—the product of a centuries-long tradition of musical expression—is allegedly a function of white supremacy. Other supposed guardians of Western civilization, whether museum directors, humanities professors, or scientists, have gone AWOL in the face of similar claims, lest they themselves be denounced as racist.
