Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom said that medical doctors should be able to prescribe housing in the same way they prescribe medication to sick people Wednesday during his 2020 State of the State Address.
“Health care and housing can no longer be divorced. After all, what’s more fundamental to a person’s well-being than a roof over their head?” Newsom asked during the address. “Doctors should be able to write prescriptions for housing the same way they do for insulin and antibiotics.” The crowd erupted in applause.

That’s just plain dumb. Stupid. Doctor writes a script for a house, then what, Gavin? Idiot.

Yep, prescribe a crazy junkie a house and watch him burn it down while making meth. Great idea there Gavin.
Taxpayers get stuck with the bill for this folly.

If a Republican said that, they would become the subject of ridicule for weeks. When a liberal nitwit says it, then it's time to reflect and contemplate this new ingenious solution to the problem he created.

The house/apartment/condo pharmacy bins would have to be pretty big. And drive-thru definitely would not work.

What would generic housing look like and how many refills would you get? I think this is a brilliant idea, but I'm not sure I'd like the copay.

For centuries, the formula has been for people to build or buy their own home and perform productive work to maintain it. Only an idiot like Newsom would attempt to "fix" that. Our current "homeless" problem was created by corrupt, low information democrats and only exists in liberal hives of stupidity known as blue cities where drugs and crime are tolerated. That is not a coincidence.

Good thing. My doctor just wrote me a prescription for Gavin Newsom's house. Yo, Gavin...I'd like you to be out of there in 24 hours so my condition doesn't worsen while I'm waiting.

Open up the governor's mansion, and put it on the list of the spaces the docs prescribe. Why DO governors have to have a mansion anyway? Why can't they live in their own homes? That mansion Gavin lives in could be put to better use by housing the homeless and those on welfare. Eat that!

OK, so homeless mentally ill, alcoholic, drug addicted man or woman gets a house. In less than a week chances are the house will be trashed or burned down.

Here’s a little something that no Democrat seems to have learned. Healthcare and housing are not the responsibility of government!!! I’ve read the constitution and the federlist papers and can’t find it anywhere. It is a Democrat dream to be able to control people. Healthcare and housing are a privilege to be earned. Not a right granted by government.

Anything you get for free has no value to the recipient. Look at any housing project. Within a few years of being constructed, the whole area looks like WW III happened there last Tuesday. AnD how many of these homes that come into the possession of the homeless will be turned over to the junkies dealer for a week's supply of the drug of their choice?
If Government is to do anything, it should help people break the cycle of bad choices, rather than subsidize them.
These "Prescriptions" should be written for free room and board at a Mental Institution or Detox.

And governors should be allowed to develop and propose to state legislatures programs to address a state's homeless, mental illness, and drug addiction problems. Oh, wait .....

Luckily, after years of experience, many of us are now wise to the antics and trick moves of the so-called "Progressive Left". At face value, this sounds stupid ... until you realize old Gavin is laying the groundwork for the basis for a Federal law suit!
Some nut job Cali-forn-if-ication doctor (not hard to find) gives a prescription for an apartment to some 65 year old junkie/drunk. The rent bill goes to Medicare and the housing authority must move him/her up the waiting list ... doctor's orders don't you see! If you don't do it and pay for it, you're violating the bum's rights.
Of course the hidden agenda is also that a landlord can't deny a prescription any more than a hospital or pharmacy can. You have a building with 10 apartments? Good for you! When the social worker shows up with the drunk in tow and hand's you the prescription to "give the patient a room" for you to turn him down leads to a fine at minimum and lawsuit at max. Soon ... they will just seize your open apartments under martial law. Wait for it.

It is a short distance between prescriptions for housing and housing covered by Medicare for all. Newsom, who has already said he wants extend MediCal to illegals, plainly knows this.

People should buy or build their own homes, as # 8 says. And most folks who "build their own home", consult with a builder and write some checks. At least most people pay for their own homes these days, but Newsom would "fix that problem".
My wife and I built our vacation home with our own four hands, with the help of some friends and family with the heavy work of raising the exterior walls and setting the roof trusses - no cranes, just hands and some brainpower. The only work hired was the foundation concrete pour and the sheetrock work. I can do sheetrock but I am slow, and I truly hate it. Watching a good sheetrock crew hang it and mud it is amazing.
Expecting your home to just be provided by OPM, via a scribble on a piece of paper is truly insane. Economically impossible.
And if it somehow happened, this gutter trash would ruin these home in a few weeks.
