James Comey is a threat to your civil liberty. Writing in the Washington Post on Tuesday, the former FBI director described the Department of Justice as “separate and apart” from the authority of the president and maligned Attorney General William Barr for allegedly “intervening” in the Roger Stone case.
Comey’s claims are as perverse as they are unmoored from reality. Here’s how.
According to Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution, “The executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.” This means the president is the chief law enforcement officer of the United States.

The AG works directly for the President. As such, the President can legally, constitutionally and rightfully direct the AG to do anything WITHIN THE LAW.
The problem is that The Zero's AGs (Horrible Holder, and Lousy Lynch) both broke the laws repeatedly. Holder's most obvious was the shipping of military style rifles illegally to the cartels in Mexico, and trying to use it as a setup for a gun grab, hoping to provoke a lot of violence and publicity. Lynch was running things when the whole Trump criminal election interference/FISA abuse/coup went down.
If Trump wanted to direct AG Barr to do some specific thing, that is very much within his normal, constitutional purview, regardless of how many obnoxious Swamp Critters, current or former, say otherwise.

I make it a point not to read anything, ever, with James Comey's byline. I can't believe anyone still publishes the blather of this lying, self-righteous hypocrite, although the Washington Post does have a ridiculously LOW editorial bar.

Comey is a proven liar, anything he says should be questioned.

I think Comey must think that he is living in the chaotic post-apocalyptic times of "Judge Dredd' where he believes: "I am the Law." He needs some serious face time in their maximum security prison if this were true.

Comey epitomizes what my old boss used to call "well educated idiots." There are a lot of them and D.C. is not exempt. Just look at the harmful and unnecessary economic and international disasters that have marked the last fifty years or so.

#5, to call Comey an idiot is to excuse his planned, plotted and intended criminal behavior as some sort of incompetence by a well meaning fool. Comey is NOT well meaning. Comey has said that he is a Communist, and it is easy to see that his goals were/are to destroy any person who might interfere with the leftist take over of our government., regardless of the laws he might need to break.

But Comey knows exactly how ignorant our media is. They lap up anything he says as gospel.

"elevating Department of Justice attorneys to impartial arbiters of objective truth corrupts our adversarial justice system"
This is one example of the disease of working for the Federal government, you think you are superior to everyone else. Unfortunately, power accrues to the Federal government so even though they have no legitimate claim to being "arbiters of objective truth", they have power to pretend to be and to intimidate others into accepting it. THAT is why the swamp needs to be drained and power returned to the people.
A secondary issue for the collection of bureaucrats in Washington is that they are WRONG about so much. For example, the economic advances that Trump has made were deemed impossible, not only by dems but by Republicans as well because that is what the elite told them was true. That is also why they treated Trump like the class clown. Everyone else was telling them he was crazy and doing what he proposed would ruin the economy. Well, the elite were all wrong and the Republicans that believed what they were told were wrong and look a bit stupid. Trump has been gracious enough not to rub their noses in it unless they have been obnoxious about it.
We are left needing a new knowledge class with far more flexible and innovative thinking, hopefully removed from the corruption of politics. A bunch of the elite, like NeverTrumpers, refuse to accept that they don't know what they are taking about and have beclowned themselves in their resistance. Hopefully there are some who at least know they were wrong and have started to open their minds. They don't have to be right ALL the time but it would be nice if they got it right more often than wrong.
People like Comey are a lost cause.

Is anyone *really* surprised at this? Anyone? No one should be, nor does anyone have a legitimate excuse. Is there truly *anyone* with a 3-digit I.Q. who thinks this is an aberration that began with Obumble or the Clinton cabal? Really, anyone?
This is a pattern that was old when the phrase "Byzantine intrigue" was first considered. Probably similar phrases in ancient China, Egypt, Persia, and certainly in Rome.
This sort of thing has *ALWAYS* occurred, and always will occur, so long as these powerful, secretive, self-important and self-serving agencies and bureau's (and bureaucrats and agents) exist at all. Where, pray tell, is there the slightest hint in our Constitution AS WRITTEN the enables the very existence of virtually all of these agencies in any way? The position of AG, sure. FISA? No. The F.B.I.? Again, no. D.E.A., A.T.F., etc ad infinitum, ad nauseum? Again, no.
We may, Lord willing, survive the current wave. The next will be worse, by far.
ABOLISH virtually all of these feral operations and banish the apparatchiks from this once-free land. Long overdue.

I stopped reading when you stated the chief law enforcement officer of the USA is the President. I was under the impression the FBI is the chief law enforcement officer of the USA. The chief prosecutor is the AG. Maybe you quoted the Constitution, but you got the meaning wrong.
