Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg once said that farming and factory jobs don’t require much gray matter, as opposed to information-era jobs.
In a 2016 talk at Oxford University in England, a clip of which went viral over the weekend, the 2020 Democratic presidential contender belittled both agricultural and industrial jobs as simple and simplistic.
“I could teach anybody, even the people in this room” to be a farmer, he said, calling agriculture “a process.” “You dig a hole, you put a seed in, you put dirt on top, add water, up comes the corn,” he said.
He spoke similarly of factory jobs as mechanical repetition requiring no brain power.

Someone put Mini Mike in one of the new high tech farm equipment and ask to drive it.
Ask him to set up and run a CNC machine.

I'm here to tell you that by his definition IT is a process. Every productive job is based on a process!

Bloomberg is an idiot. I don't know any successful farmer who isn't a soil scientist, a climatologist, an economic wizard, a banker and a fitness freak all in one body. Bloomberg is confusing gardening with farming. I can't believe he is so detached from reality.

Someone should do a remake of that song from Oklahoma!..,
Oh the farmer and the cowman should be friends
Oh the farmer and the cowman should be friends
One man likes to push a plow;
The other likes to milk a cow;
But that's no reason why they can't be friends
Only this time it should be something like :
Oh the farmer and the mayor should be friends;
Oh the farmer and the mayor should be friends;
The farmer likes to pull a plow;
The mayor likes to milk the taxpayers:
And that's the reason why they can't be friends.
....................................................................................
To be a successful farmer these days, you have to be an agronomist, a chemist, a botanist, a meteorologist, a mechanic, a computer technician, a plumber, an electrician and all kinds of other stuff.
A successful farmer has to know a LOT more that any WallStreet hack, a Mayor or a Presidential candidate.
In a survival situation, I'd rather have the worlds least successful farmer at my side than the richest denizen of Wall Street or the top guy in City Hall.

I've been in IT for 25 years managing 50 Million Dollar projects. Some of the dumbest people I have ever been around are in the technology business. There are several vendors that I could point to but won't hear! I always advised my clients against their software when asked! Hey...Stock Brokers are real geniuses! I owned all the technology for a Big 8 Brokerage that our bank finally sold off. I had to install email surveillance to keep these guys in-line. They would sell a stock to a poor schmuck and then send and email bragging about the trash they just dumped to all their buddies in the firm... If you sent an email that said "trust me" it was quarantined by the software we installed. Nice business Bloomberg you moron! Stock Brokers would be selling used cars if they weren't selling stocks!

My brother sent this:
“Uncle Jack told me about the terrible poverty the depression visited on him. He was showing me his old old tractor which he kept parked in a grove of trees. He told me how he had to reline the bearings but could not buy the Babbitt (a lead alloy) so he took some chickens to the junk yard where he traded them for some old junk so that he could remelt it and then recast it in the form of tractor motor bearings.”
Okay, L’il Bloomie; if this “dumb farmer” can do that, let’s see what you can do!

This just four years ago. It's not like Mikey was young and stupid but he's certainly old and stupid now and loses votes every time he opens his mouth. It's a good thing he has money because he has nothing else of value.

NOBODY has a bigger gamble every year than a big farmer. And no successful farmer is anything but really smart. I have a friend who retired wealthy after a lifetime of wheat farming. A VERY smart businessman, and an extremely straight shooter, both figuratively and in reality with guns.

#14, I am old and I have, many years ago, cast and scraped babbit bearings on a old Ford car. Not a heck of a lot of folks these days who even know what that IS, let alone have done it and can do it.
If a stupid person tries to be a farmer, he will soon starve. A brutal, very competitive and very complex business.

Gee, the democrats keep surprising me all the time. I thought Biden, with his "dog-faced pony soldier" comment, was the most stupid and arrogant individual that party could possibly field. Then along came Bloomberg....
