Ruth Bader Ginsburg misses Supreme
Court arguments due to illness

Original Article

Posted By: DVC, 11/13/2019 1:42:11 PM

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was absent from oral arguments before the high court Wednesday morning due to an illness. The court said Ginsburg, 86, remained home because of a stomach bug. While not having the opportunity to question attorneys during the arguments, she will be involved in deciding the cases. "Justice Ginsburg is unable to be present today. She is indisposed due to illness, but she will participate in the consideration and decision of the cases on the basis of the briefs and the transcripts or recordings of the oral arguments," Chief Justice John Roberts said from the bench.

Comments:

At her age, any illness is serious. RBG is not going to last forever, no question. SHE is one of the bigger reasons to be all in on re-electing Trump.

Nothing trivial, we hope. Wishing eternal damnation upon ANY human being is an awful thing to do. But one seriously doubts that this beast will be met with a " Welcome, good and faithful servant! Enter into the joy!" encounter. But I suspect the very same greeting for the lousy bum who nominated her to this position, and the same for Every Single Senator who voted to confirm it.

She and her minions (aka, socialist party members) will do their d@mnedest to insure that she can at least stay officially on the court until January. Then it will be an election year and Trump will most likely be stymied by the (unofficial) practice of not nominating a replacement. It will be the left's last, desperate, Hail Beelzebub play to keep SCOTUS somewhat in balance. ( You didn't think I would say Hail Mary when dealing with advocates of infanticide, did you?)

When the impeachment farce started in September, I said the only reason is because Ginsburg is a lot sicker than we know. If she dies (I'm not hoping she does) or resigns (which I hope she does) The GDrats will say President Trump cannot nominate anyone because he's under investigation for corruption (or they'll make up something). Or, they hope she lasts into the New Year and then say Trump can't nominate anyone to replace her because it's an election year.

#10 is exactly right and I’ll add one more reason for this impeachment farce. It is so the left can say that PDT doesn’t deserve to nominate anyone to the SCOTUS because he’s been impeached.

Two of my friends have died of pancreatic cancer within the past year. They each experienced a bad bout of vomiting in the final month of life. At that point they went into hospice care. They were dead within a couple weeks. It could be that RBG has a stomach bug. It could be that her cancer has progressed. We won't know because it will not be reported accurately, but I suspect the latter.

BTW, the rule about not nominating someone in a presidential election year only applies if the president is serving his last term. That’s why McConnell refused to even consider 0bama’s nomination of Garland.

Indeed, the dims trying to create the illusion that an impeached president is considered damaged goods and cannot nominate someone for the SCOTUS is part of the dims operandi. But, the dims prime objective is to continue drowning out AG Barr's efforts to investigate dim collusion with Russia. So far, the impeachment circus is meeting the dim's needs, but, ruh roh, Horowitz and Durham haven't come forward yet with their findings. So, in usual fashion, the dims are attempting to run out the clock and try to install a dim in the WH in November and thus bury the dims' Russia collusion and subsequent coverup for good. Obie was good at this.

And yet Shannon Bream herself told us that RBG was 'present and actively engaged' at the Court yesterday. A person on a Court of 9 persons in a nation of 340,000,000 shouldn't need to be monitored for her health and mere wakefulness. Yet here we are. Spare me the platitudes about RBG's commitment to the law, to democracy etc. She is a cynical dead-ender who mocks the very idea of judicial temperament with her red-in-tooth-and-claw refusal to step down.

#4, that's covered in the Book - James 4 - 13-17. There are no guarantees about tomorrow let alone next year or ten years. I see two possible picks for President Trump with Justice Thomas retiring but he won't until RBG leaves. I also think that RBG will not leave of her own accord until after the election. She may be a lot of things but there is no doubt about her commitment to the Party and her devotion to the woman's "constitutional" rights" of abortion and birth control. It has been (and still is) my wish for a very long time to to see Justice Thomas as Chief Justice. The Case for Closing Public Schools…

For the past year, parents and students across the county, mostly in Democrat-run municipalities, have been experiencing excessive levels of stress due to unending school closures. Red states like Florida, Texas, and South Dakota have been open for months. Meanwhile, the teacher’s unions have a stranglehold on the public schools in Democrat states, refusing to open for a litany of absurd reasons. Part of me sympathizes with the conservative parents who are struggling to cope with working from home and the online curriculum management of their children. (Though that sympathy does not extend to liberal parents who knowingly voted for this lunacy.) But I am struggling to understand why

Recently on FOX News's Hannity show, Ari Fleisher, a self-described member of the establishment GOP, weakly attempted to placate both sides of the fractured Republican Party. He emphatically pleaded the argument that the establishment needs to respect the patriot wing, and the patriot side needs the establishment to know how to pass laws. I am sure I was joined in a collective double-take upon hearing Mr. Fleischer's disconnected reasoning. Since 2008, the Republican Party has been in a political downfall. I’ve made a minor hobby of looking skeptically at immunizations since my case report on atypical measles was published as the centerpiece article in JAMA 45 years ago. That case illustrated at least one unpublicized problem from immunizations. It seems that the original measles vaccine, “a killed measles vaccine” was given to preschool kids beginning in 1962-63 and available until 1968. It did prevent measles for about six years. Thereafter, when these kids were exposed to measles they sometimes developed an inverted and much more serious illness. My case was the first that occurred in a young adult 14 years after immunization.

Make the "United States" plural again. Is that so much to ask? Up until the Civil War, that was the customary grammatical construction. "The United States of America are committed to..." "The United States of America have declared war upon..." "The United States of America stand together..." Ah, there's the rub. These United States of ours do not really stand together anymore on anything, and only the linguistic shrewdness of treating the "United States" as a singular entity provides the fictitious veneer of national unity. In a world filled with fake news, fake markets, and fake elections, ignoring proper grammatical rules

Electric vehicles are being sold, in part, on how much they’ll save people in terms of maintenance costs. That’s a total con. EVs are not no-maintenance or even low-maintenance relative to non-electric cars. They are different maintenance. And they’re not cheaper to maintain. Instead of oil and filter changes, you change the battery pack. That will shortly become clear. An oil/filter change generally costs about $50 ($10 for a filter, $5 per quart of oil times 5 to 6 quarts, plus the labor, if you pay someone else to do it). Most non-electric cars need their oil and filter changed about once every 6,000 miles or so — about twice a year

There’s something unattractive about a mature woman marrying into the British Royal family with one of the world’s most expensive weddings, hanging out with the Queen, living in insane luxury…and then whining non-stop about the horror of her life. There’s something even less appealing when that woman accuses the Royal family of race hatred.
