What happens when a school district needs to collect $20,000 in unpaid lunch fees from parents? In Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, they, um … repossess your kids. A letter from the director of federal programs at the Wyoming Valley West School District warns delinquent parents that the district will force their kids into foster care if they don’t pay up.

They are more likely to make all school lunches “free” then separate school kids from their parents, as they will be better off monetarily sucking up their losses, then paying to completely financially support a whole bunch of poor school children. As it probably costs a couple of dollars each school day for each individual school lunch, rather than about a hundred dollars a day seven days a week, for would be parenting, housing, three daily meals, and all incidentals for each affected school kid.

So much for the Dems' argument that child separation is a bad thing!

Don't kids bring their own lunches any more. The only thing my parents had to pay for when I was real young in 1936 was the pint of milk that was five cents back then. I always brought my own lunch till I graduated in 1950.

I could REALLY go for a PBJ right now. Costs pennies, too. Shame on the school district for threatening parents like this.

I don't understand why parents who receive welfare can't manage to buy simple, cheap ingredients and prepare lunches for their kids. What really frosts me are the school breakfast and summer lunch programs that enable parents to further abdicate their responsibilities.

It's only a matter of time before Nora O'Donell asks the dem candidates "How many of you believe that ALL school children should get FREE breakfast, lunch and dinner at their local school"? And whoosh all hands go up. Not to worry, maybe Bernie can get a few government bread trucks to set up in the school parking lot. After all we do not want parents to actually be responsible for their children, do we?

You folks are so old fashioned. It's not just lunch anymore. The state wards receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner now in many districts. Three hots cost money, you know. PopTarts are darn expensive these days.
Sixty-five thousand clicks for poster #4. You win the post of the decade!

As far as I know, since the only school age children I'm familiar with are junior high grandkids, all children in my South Louisiana Parish receive free breakfast and lunch. They also have a minimal summer meal program. I always find it strange that the same 'poor' folks that need free meals for their kids, drop them off and pick them up in high dollar cars. I'd go to a school board meeting and say something about my tax dollars, but I don't want to be branded a racist.

Sorry #6, some kid in the school district has a peanut allergy, therefore, PB not allowed. Diabetes is a huge (pun intended) problem, so no jelly and someone has celiac disease so gluten/bread is out. Maybe a glass of tap water would suffice? Gosh, who knew being a food Nazi could be so much fun?

Being a substitute teacher, I can attest how full of themselves the educrats can be. On the other hand, about certain types of kids I encountered, I would expect some parents to say, “go ahead and take my kids to save me the aggravation.”

I wonder how many of the lowlife parents who haven’t had the decency and integrity to pay for their kids’ lunches would just shrug and say “OK…keep them…"

Those who read the HotAir “article” will find that it is a brief wrapper for a longer article here.
https://www.pahomepage.com/top-stories/county-officials-upset-with-wyoming-valley-west-school-districts-letter/
Best to read it before jumping. It winds up:
And that is exactly what is happening. The Wyoming Valley West School District says it will send out a second, softer letter to parents who are delinquent in paying their children’s lunch bills.
We’re told parents face legal action from the district, including a complaint in district court and having liens filed against their personal property.
This is why most of us don’t post from HotAir…. junque news.

I read the local article and it makes more sense. A School District had determined that your children really DO belong to the State and needed to be repossessed because they weren't being well paid.
So we have now established the School District considers the children State property and no one can stand in their way. Well except for the rest of the county that is not ready to declare war ...yet.

Come and get them; the little buggers are eating us out of house and home. We send money each day, but the illegal aliens beat them up at the bus and take their money.

Maybe the lefties of Luzerne County can find someone to push a School Lunch Debt Forgiveness program... and reparations for those students that paid for their lunches. Yes, free lunch for all!
